Since Ibotta has been regularly having Best Buy and Microsoftstore.com offers I've restructured this thread a bit. I have also added an FAQ below.

Current "CAG Friendly" offers:

- Best Buy (in store and/or online):

$5 for spending $100 (can be multiple purchases)* - Expires "02/10/15 at 12:59 am",

*On occasion some users get different offers so it may vary - you won't know until you open the app.

- MicrosoftStore.com (online only):

$10 for spending $100 (can be multiple purchases) - Expires but has been ongoing regularly

- New users can also get a $2 bonus (read below).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ibotta is basically an instant rebate app for smart phones that allows you to get money back for certain items (typically grocery). The money can be deposited into your paypal or used for some gift cards.  It is an app actually worth checking out anyway but these deals are certainly bound to speak to some CAG folk.

You can download the app through their site (or read below if you'd like to thank me for sharing this offer with you): https://ibotta.com/. There is no bonus to using my referral link in my signature but if you'd like to as a thank you for posting this I certainly won't argue - your rebate will go through all the same but yes, I get a bonus too.  To do so correctly make sure to register at the below link and then sign in with those same credentials once you install the app.

New Ibotta user you can earn an additional $2 bonus for redeeming your first offer. Simply redeem your first offer (this offer or any other) within 10 days of signing up. Once you redeem your first offer (again, you must do so within 10 days of signing up not just installing the app) you will get a bonus $2 welcome reward.

General Ibotta FAQ

Q: How do I unlock a rebate?

A: Each rebate has a couple of task that must be completed before it is "unlocked" and you can redeem it. Most of these task consist of a poll or "learning a fact" but on occasion they include posting to Twitter or Facebook.

Q: How long can I submit a receipt?

A: Receipts can be submitted for up to one week from the purchase date. I.e. a receipt from the 1st can be submitted up through the 7th. Offers do expire though, and an offer may expire before a week's time preventing you from submitting it.

Q: How do I complete an online offer such as BestBuy.com?

A: Once you've competed the "task" to unlock the offer there will be an option to click a button to "shop." You will then have the option to send yourself a referral link to use later or to shop directly from within an in-app browser. Online purchases tend to show up in your account in 2-3 days.

Q: I bought something three days ago and a new rebate has been added for that same item! Can I still submit my receipt?
A: Yes, you can submit any receipt less than a week old, even if the offer didn't exist when you originally purchased the item. For example, if you spent $100 at Best Buy on the 1st and an offer for $10 back when you spend $100 was added on the 3rd, you could submit the receipt from the 1st.

Q: How long do rebates take?

A: They can vary a bit, and receipt photos that are hard to read seem to take longer (most likely are manually reviewed) but often times rebates post to your account within an hour.

Q: How can I get the money I've earned?

A: Once you've reached a minimum of $10 you can "cash out" a number of ways including sending the cash directly to your Paypal or even gift cards such as Best Buy and Starbucks (among others).

Q: How come some people have a $10 for spending $100 and others have $5 for $100 or $20 for $100? Why don't I have the same offer as someone else?

A: Ibotta does seem to periodically offer different offers to different users. This appears to be from a combination of different reasons, everything from geographical location, how long you'e been a user or even if you redeemed a previous offer for the same store.

Q: If I pay with a gift card will it still count? Can I use other coupons and still qualify for an Ibotta rebate?

A: Ibotta really doesn't care about the form of payment or other coupons used (with one exception). So long as you bought the item and it is on your receipt it will qualify. It is possible to buy a grocery item that is on sale for $2, use a $1 off coupon and get $1.50 back in Ibotta rebate. The exception to this is the "Spend $$$ to get $$$" offers. Since the final total paid is what matters. If you lower the total with coupons/sales/reward certificates (for Best Buy) will result in less money being counted as "spent."

Q: How do "Team Bonuses" work?

A: Teams are fairly new and still a little unclear but the primary way they work is that everyone you invite to Ibotta and joins through your link winds up on your "team." Once your team has received a certain dollar amount in rebates and you've also redeemed a certain amount you qualify for a bonus. For example, a hypothetical Team Bonus might require that your team redeems $20 in rebates total and you redeem $10 in rebates personally. Once both conditions are met you'll receive the bonus for that month. This will typically unlock a "level 2" where you can gain another bonus when the next levels are met. So far there have not been more than 3 "levels" of Team Bonuses.  It may be possible to add others to your team through Facebook.

Q: Can multiple accounts on different devices send to the same Paypal account?

A: Short answer, yes. Ibotta does appear to have realized that some households may have multiple phones but maybe only one Paypal account so you could, for example, have yourself and your spouse both cash out to the same Paypal. Having more than one account per person is almost certainly against the terms however so do so at your own risk.

No need to use the referral link to get the extra $2. You get it once you complete your first offer with 10 days of registering.
If that is true, I apologize for saying otherwise. Ibotta's wording made it sound like the $2 bonus was for people being referred not just new members.

I looked into this further and you're right! The email I got just said "Each friend you refer who redeems their first offer within 10 days of registration will immediately earn a $2 Welcome Aboard Bonus." and thought that it was part of being referred. I've updated the OP and previous post to reflect that.

I tried to submit a store pick up receipt last night, considering that phone's account still has it pending from yesterday and the receipt I submitted and a friend that signed up submitted their receipt an hour ago and it already went through I'd say the store pick up receipts either don't work or require a person to verify them and take longer. I will update if it is ultimately accepted or denied.

Store pick up receipts officially don't work. Mine got rejected for not having a "purchase date" that they could read (probably because it didn't have the UPC I'm guessing). Just a heads up.

I do not currently have a smart phone (iPhone / Android).  Is there still a way for me to take  advantage of this Ibotta offer?

Thanks for the heads up, wish I could do this multiple times.
This is the 2nd time Best Buy has done an offer like this. About a month ago they did this and it seems that if you took advantage of the first offer (which was $10 for $100) this time you got a $5 for $50 offer (and new users got $10 for $100). I'm sure the offer will pop back up eventually, Ibotta adds new offers (and it seems new business partners - there was nothing outside of grocery like 3 months ago now there are movie theaters, restaurants, Best Buy, etc.) pretty much every week.

i was wondering why i only see the $10 for $100 offer

yeah, last time was the first time they offered it so there were no differences. This is the 2nd time and they clearly based it on if you had redeemed the offer last time or not. Who knows what they'll have next time (or what other offers will sneak in). They had one buy buying Taladega Nights on DVD like two weeks ago, so talk about random.

Hmmm a couple people I know who tried to submit a receipt this morning kept getting a "couldn't read the receipt" error, seems like Ibotta is having issues this morning, just an FYI if anyone tried this morning and had the same issue.

Seems to be working now.

haha, I might have a $1 receipt I can send you later. Can't guarantee it though. The rare situation where it is too bad there was no tax!

Just a reminder everyone, today is the last day to get the $2 bonus for being a new user (though the offer runs rough 2/3 otherwise)!

Tomorrow is technically the last day for this but I really recommend submitting your receipt by today if you are going to. Ibotta's expiration dates are sometimes a little weird (for example, it says 2/3 but the way it is written it may end at 1am tonight.

I just wanted to add my $0.02 and also thank BudzMcGee for sharing this deal.

I managed to get $12 back on a TV purchase from Best Buy ($10 off $100+ + $2 referral bonus).  No issues at all and the process was very prompt.

Bump for another offer! Yay free money!
I take it that means it's back? Missed out the first time around. Kind of sucks that I spent like $2000 there recently. Oh well, more excuse to pick up a couple things I was on the fence about.

Edit- Got the $10 off $100 as well.

must be a receipt within one week of the printed receipt date, so none before 3/11/14 today, 3/12/14 tomorrow and so on
I could kiss you. My Dark Souls CE receipts are 3/11! :D

Question: It says excludes gift card purchases.  Does that mean I can't buy GCs to get the $10 back or that if I bought something with GCs it doesn't count?

If you use a gift card to make your purchase, i.e. pay with gift cards, you can still redeem the offer.

The terms means that if you go buy a $100 gift card you won't get $10 back. You could always try it of course, say if you had two $50 gift cards and went into the store and combined them... I can't say it would work though (and it clearly isn't supposed to)

Related note, last time this offer came around I got so many referrals that Ibotta froze my account while they investigated how I had so many. I had to show them this thread.

I think this was covered before...can you use this app with iPhones?
They have an iPhone app as well.

Wow so you got $5 for each referral? Nice!

It really is a pretty sweet deal and an awesome perk for telling people about this (the first time there was a Best Buy offer there wasn't any bonus for referrals and I still told people because it is just a nice bonus deal anyway). I don't get upset if people chose not to sign up through the link, but all around it is pretty great: they get $12 back on their purchase (assuming they are new) I get $5 for telling them about how they could get $12 basically.

There is also a promo for "cashing out" where if you set up a Venmo account to send your money there you get an extra $5. Have never used Venmo but if anyone decided to give that a try post and let us know how that worked. Far as I can tell Venmo is a Paypal alternative...

Well I had enough still good receipts that I was able to do it as was my brother and mother.  Hopefully they won't have an issue with the receipts and trying to capture these 18 inch receipts in the little box.

You don't need the whole receipt, just the part from the subtotal up.

Yeah, that was like 18 inches on two of them. Had like six items on each and then a couple of them had multiple discounts.
Someone feels the need to brag about their 18 inches...

Seriously though, I hear you, Best Buy's receipts get crazy long sometimes; especially if paying with multiple gift cards and so on.

You should have seen the receipt from when I bought $1000 in Kindle cards.

Edit- Looks like they already verified my first receipt.

No Problem :D

Perfect for today, went to get final fantasy and found a bravely default collectors edition and bought both along with an xbox one headset adaptor. Receipt was just approved!

Well it looks like the already accepted my stuff. :)

HOW exactly do i upload receipt? I can find any upload button on my android app
Once you unlock the rebate you go back to the main menu then go to redeem and select the BBY rebate and it will let you take a picture and upload it.

I submitted a receipt where I bought a gift card using gift cards and it was accepted. As you said, though its not supposed to work it does. Whether its smart or not to do this is anyone's guess.

And thanks for the heads up on this. Not only for the Best Buy offers, but I've been using it to get some cheap food and shampoo/conditioner. Its pretty common to stack the ibotta offer with a coupon or store sale.

Okay.  I currently do not own a smart phone (iPhone or Android), but it seems like this is a pretty fantastic app and deal.  What would be the cheapest way for me to start doing this?  I just recently bought a 2 Year Gamer's Club Unlocked subscription from Best Buy during the Titanfall sale, and being able to earn anywhere from $5 - $10 for doing something I would do anyways is highly enticing.  Thank you in advance.  :)

You need a smartphone or tablet that runs iOS or android. There's also 1 kindle fire model that apparently works. Here's the official word on devices from ibotta:

You need to fix that. Even if you don't want an actual phone there's frequent sales for $10-20 on pre-paid ones that you don't have to add any time to. They won't be great but having one around to use on wi-fi is well worth it for things like this that require a smartphone.

Thanks for the information! I was planning on eventually picking up a Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 or iPod Touch 4th Generation +, and this certainly would eventually help in paying the cost of the device off. Now it's time for me to go check Amazon and eBay. :)

Thanks for the reply, EldritchOnRye. Where would you recommend buying one of the cheap prepaid smartphones? Amazon? eBay?

Well you just missed some really good deals this past week. If you have a Radioshack with them in stock near you they still have the Kyocera Event on sale for $20 it looks like which isn't too bad just to have around for this sort of stuff and you can root it and do other things with it too. Just tell them you don't need any time and don't want to activate it if you're not going to use it as a phone. Best that I know of that's still going on.
