Today I get online to see two emails in regards to ebay auctions I recently sold.

One was for the LOTR deluxe gift set. Buyer pays with an e-check. Clears after the 15th. I ship on the 16th. They wanna know where its at cause its not there yet.

The other one-buyer got a dvd set. Claims that its been watched and re-wrapped cause of some logo thats not on the shrink wrap. I had to make a run up to austin today and I went to 1 best buy, 2 circuit citys, and 2 wal-marts. They had the set in question and this logo the buyer is complaining about being on the shrink wrap wasnt on ANY of them there.

People expect delivery to happen within 3 - 4 days it seems regardless of the fact that it is taking much longer than normal to deliver stuff. Items sent 1st class are taking up to 9 and 10 days to be delivered for items I sent out in the past 1 - 2 weeks. That first buyer sounds very unreasonable.

The 2nd buyer sounds like they are one of those idiots who has no idea what they are talking about or are trying to scam you into getting some money back or a refund

The 2nd buyer aint getting anything from me. Im not gonna hide my pay pal money but Im gonna fight this all the way. I read what they were complaining about on the box set. It does mention a bit about some stamping of sorts but when I bought them at walmart, and went to 4+ diff retail outlets and none of those have it either, I dont see it as my issue.

I agree it's not your problem

Something else could be that the set is manufactured in different factories. When I bought 2 copies of LOTR for GCN from BestBuy.com, 1 copy had thin shrinkwrap with the EA logo printed on the actual shrinkwrap all over and another copy had the thick folded shrinkwrap without any EA logos but both were factory sealed.

For the first email, that doesn't sound too bad. It could be just an inexperienced online shopper who doesn't understand the time delays involved with shipping and e-checks. You don't mention them being rude, so I'm assuming they're just ignorant. For the second email, that sounds more annoying. I guess all you can really do is tell them about how you checked other retail stores and have no idea what they are talking about :\

I've said it before and I'll say it again... I've never had any problems on eBay with selling, everyone of my customers have been happy.

I make SURE they know what to expect, provide tons of pictures, and detail on everything. You have be pretty anal about your auctions so that dipsh*t buyers don't hold blame on you.

That's true you have to be very specific, even if I am selling a sealed game and there is the tiniest rip in the shrinkwrap at the bottom of the case, I mention it in the description. Even a Gameboy game that has a crease in the box that you wouldn't even be able to see without looking for it, I mention it just to be safe.

No doubt. The description said they were brand new factory sealed as if you went out and got it at a retail outlet yourself. I just didnt say exactly where I got it from.
They said they wanted me to give me a shot to reply before they took further action. Which means after my reply to them stating I checked Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Target, Circuit City etc etc...none of the sets there had any "logo shrink wrap" and that I could back up where I purchased the sets from cause I have the reciepts still.

I got a buyer bitching about a 360 hard drive. I sent it out the day after payment which wa slast wednesday and it hasn't got there and they are made. They have the tracking number too and I have gotten like 5 emails. I'm like damn I can't deliver it.

I had somebody pay for my item and they picked media mail shipping because it was cheaper and then they put in the paypal notes I hope you ship this priority because it is a christmas present. Then they email me like 4 days after saying they are getting worried it might not make it by christmas

Gee. I wonder where people got that idea? Stupid Ebay. When I told my local postmaster what Ebay is saying, he flipped out, "Who the hell does Ebay think they are? WE decide how long packages will take... especially at this time of year. We're working overtime to get gifts out to the cyustomer on time & still running behind. Ebay can take their 1 to 3 days estimate and shove it......"

Well, I think you get the point. My postmaster is stressed out, but I agree with him in principle. Ebay has NO business giving delivery estimates...especially ones that are so blatantly unrealistic. Even amazon.com has a disclaimer, "We make no guarantees about delivery times."

Just tell him, "No it's not rewrapped. I just verified with Wal-mart & Circuit City and they have no logos. I'm selling exactly the same set they are selling."

"And if you are a collector, and are concerned about having Logos on all your sealed collectibles, then you should have asked *before* bidding, not after. AS REQUIRED by your user agreement."

BTW, I probably would not have wasted my ~$5.00 gasoline driving to stores & verifying. I would have just told him, "Sorry, but no, I did not rewrap this item. I'm an honest seller."

Why add that last bit in your e-mail? Gains nothing other than possibly cheesing off the buyer.

Because it's true? A bidder *is* supposed to ask before bidding. Am I wrong?

I'm happy to say I contributed to a non-paying buyer getting NARU'd. Strike #1 was issued back in September. I issued Strike #2. Another seller issued Strike #3. And then she was gone. Stupid idiot. Why bid on stuff if you're not going to pay??? You're just wasting sellers' money.

Media Mail is the scourge of satan. From Illinois to Florida it took a month for me to get a DVD. In that time period I could have rode a bike to Illinois, picked my DVD up, and rode back to Florida.

This is most likely simply a case of the buyer not realizing the set came in any other way other than with a logo on the shrinkwrap. If I got one of the new PS2 games that were shipped without a seal under the wrap (and didn't know that some games have been made that way) I might very well contact the seller asking WTF is up and if the game was a reseal job. I'd be satisfied by a reply that it was bought at retail and impressed that the seller double-checked to make sure it's like that at other stores as well. (Personally I'd probably do the legwork and check to see if that's how the set looked at stores around me BEFORE contacting the seller, but people are lazy.)

(Or yoshi's hunch is right and the guy is just fishing for a hand-out over nothing.)

Perhaps. It depends on the tone of the message. If the buyer's like you, with calm reasonable tones, then I'll answer in a friendly manner.

But if the buyer wrote something like, "This sealed set has no logo. You're trying to rip me off!", I would not reply in a friendly manner. Like the time I was working in Penney's and a customer accused me of being racist. I immediately called my manager, told him what she said, and he had her escorted out the door. Just because you're a seller does NOT mean you have to tolerate being insulted.

Hence the reason I would have said to this RUDE person: "If you are a collector, and are concerned about having Logos on all your sealed collectibles, then you should have asked *before* bidding, not after. As required in your user agreement." Let him know I'm not going to be bullied/intimidated into giving him a free movie set.

Ebay is supposed to be an EQUAL relationship, not a "buyer yells; seller falls to the ground & kisses the buyer's feet" situation. I'm not going to cower in a hole and whimper just because of some rude buyer. BOTTOM LINE - If you want good customer service from me, use friendly tones, not threats. I'll mirror whatever you give me.

There is no problem here except for your frustratableness.

The first buyer obviously doesn't understand e-checks take a few days to clear; it's likely he has never received one. So just explain it, and then he'll know.

The second one felt cheated because he made an assumption that wasn't true. It's easy to see how it would make a person angry; all you have to do is explain it isn't true.

Why do you let this kind of stuff get to you?

If someone tries to tack on a fee that wasnt mentioned in the auction, he's SOL and should be reported to ebay.

It wasnt just this lol. Its a combo of things related and unrealted to ebay. Holiday stress etc etc blah blah blah. This stuff just topped it off.

[quote name='masha']My ebay sales related quote of the day. I got it today : "I am in need of little help. I am having a hard time in this game, I can play it good, but I want to get better. Simple.

F that, the guy wants him to pay an extra $6.50 that wasn't agreed upon beforehand. ET is in the right.

However if he agreed to the $4 shipping charge, then that's a done deal.

The only time I disagree with shipping is when it's obviously excessive (IE $25 shipping on a game worth $5 in order to make it look like a deal)

I love people like that. Those who want the item right after payment. I sold an item on a sunday. The person paid a few hours later then asked me if I would ship it same day.

I would of took pics of the other item with no sticker or whatever it is. Then email them to the buyer. Say look this is inside a walmart. Better yet ask an employee to hold the boxset and point. Then photoshop out their face and tip the walmart employee a couple of bucks they make nothing trust me I worked their once.
