Is it just me, or have the Deals been über-slow lately?

Maybe it's just the huge influx of bullshit YMMV deals that have been flooding the boards, but it seems there hasn't been a decent deal drop in a month.

Am I wrong? What have you guys been cashing in on?
 
it hasn't been too bad for me ... here's my recent pick ups

perfect dark zero: ce - $8.xx
Xbox live messenger kit - $10.xx
Nyko charge station 360 (black) - $10.xx
GUN (360) - traded for 3 original xbox games i got in a woot bag of crap
PGR 4 - $9.xx
Ace Combat 6 - $9.xx
Bionicle - $8.xx


now granted these arent all deals anyone could just walk into a store and get but they are all deals that i have ran into lately
 
I'm in the same boat as you. I used to check this site every hour, on the hour, and find something to go out and buy. From Xmas until today, I haven't found a deal that is "great" to me. Either I have the game already, the price is still too steep. or I just plain don't want the game even if it costs $1.00.

I'm hoping that there are some major deals ahead for us in the coming months, so I'm holding fast.

deals have been bad. Anyone notice TRU didnt do their Xmas sale this year (just 50% off the junk no1 wanted all year)

I say Summer 2009 you will see massive sales on PS2 stuff since the PS3 will then be in everyones price range 199 to 299 and they will need the room.

I think deals have been fairly dry since Best Buy's big clearance about a year ago (even that wasn't as good as past celarances). Everything since has been on a smaller scale and uneventful. And no, I don't consider CC's $8.96 a big deal since most, if not all, of those games had already been marked down and were long gone before hitting $9.

Don't get me wrong, there have been some great deals just not the large clearances like in previous years. I am wondering if it may be due to the console cycle. With the GC, Xbox, and PS2 slowly dying off there are less games to clearance. And the newer systems don't seem to need the clearances to move games. Hopefully things will change.
 
I haven't really been in on a major deal since the CC 5 dollar crazy-blow out extravaganza like 3 years ago that was just amazing because FYE would give 20 dollars credit for a 5 dollar game
 
The only decent deal lately was the $8.96 CC clearance but even that was bad compared to past CC clearances. I was able to pick up NBA Street and Def Jam for PS3 which I thought were great prices.

Other than that it seems like there haven't been any huge blowouts. Last year when Costco had all Tony Hawk Project 8's for $9.97 each, that was amazing but it was only 1 game (well 2 if you count Downhill Jam as well)

We need something like a clearance of last gen and current gen games all for under $5 or $10 at a B&M retailer. BB is long overdue for one.
 
I picked up Cooking Mama (DS) for $10 on that CC glitch. (Should have been 2 for $30 ,but a lot of stuff was 2 for $20.)

The Darnkess (360) for $13 from gamefly's sale.

3 used 360 games - Prey, Call of Duty 2, and Kameo - for $23 total on EB/GS's B2G1 free thing.

[All 360 games here] Call of Duty 4 for $40; Saints Row for $20; Oblivion for $20; All Pro Football 2K8 for $10 all from Best Buy weekly ads.

I think that's it for me in the past month. Pretty much all of these deals fall into the category of getting them for about what they go for on eBay (shipped) so nothing earth shattering. Helped that I bought a 360 in this time frame so pretty much any 360 deal was open for me.
 
I picked up at least 4 games from that CC glitch too, amazon always has good prices, they had excellent prices before christmas on stuff that I would have bought anyways (like games for 9.99 when they retail for 29.99). There are always deals to find..

Probably the retail site. I picked up Halo 3 and Mass Effect for $9.xx each as well. I love the retail site :)
 
i was thinking the same exact thing. the CC sale is the best one right now but i doubt that theres anything left. deals have been dry..
 
deals have been high and dry since the last week before christmas. Only thing I've managed to pick up was Final Fantasy V and Custom Robo Arena at the CC $8.96 sale.
 
I've noticed them being pretty dry too. Though, I'm kind of glad since I spent a lot in December. Odin Sphere for $15, Okami for $23, Grim Grimgroire $20, Ikaruga $40, and Mass Effect LE for full price. I really can't afford any more deals.
 
I was just thinking the same thing about the lack of deals. There have been a ton of almost deals like the Walmart and Best Buy mistakes, but as for actual deals...not so much. I do love this $40 off $200 at Circuit City though =D

I still get PS2 and last gen stuff fairly cheap, you just have to look. As for the PS3 being in 'my price range' @ $199-299, it'd ONLY be there IF they add back in the backwards compatability, so I don't have to keep my PS1 and PS2 hooked up to play my old games how they were INTENDED to be played.

Although, I've seen Silent Hill on a PS3 and it looked atrocious, so the BC is horrid, since I remember the game looking at least a LITTLE better on a PS1. But still, for the price, I'd rather BC than wireless online or flash card ports.

Either way, there haven't been many deals this past year or so far this current year(all 17 days of it thus far) that stick out in my mind. But, assuming my local Sears has the one game that briansraregames mentioned getting $19 and change for marked down to $4, I may start flipping copies of it en masse until the Transworld 45% promo ends.

Hopefully, I can flip enough of them to grab a PS3 or 360 out of the deal, though with the one local FYE eliminating their games, that means one less place for me to trade.

I do concur with everyone else thus far though, that the deals seem to be trickling out slowly nowadays.
 
I got in on the $19 Heroes and $8.96 Elite Beat Agents and Condemned deals. Aside from that, it really has been slim pickins lately.

I've already taken advantage of lots of deals - the $8.96 Circuit City clearance, I used the B1G1 EB coupon for used Xbox games, I got Stuntman and Bigs for the PS3 at Target both 75% off, and of course the usual Gamerush flipping which has allowed me to pick up new $60 value 360 games for about $20-$25 in "real" money. I've also gotten numerous $5 games at TRU like FF XII, Scarface, Hitman blood money, Lemmings PSP, and others than I haven't opened yet.

I'd say the last month or so has been INCREDIBLE for deals.

My deals as of late have been kinda slow, but I found a replacement Wiimote/Nunchuck shell for 13.50 shipped which isn't bad, then a... "film" I was looking for on DVD for about 21 shipped where I couldn't find it under 25 before shipping elsewhere. Overall nothing too big has stuck out to me in the recent real deals though. I figure summer/spring it'll kick in hard.

Even though.. some B-movies get pretty damn close to softcore... well, softcore has better acting but... and well, probably better effects... Hrm.. some of these movies I get really are just bad quality.

I understand where you are coming from, but I'd have to agree with most others - deals have been very weak all Fall/Winter. I don't have a GR to spend that credit at (and most other people don't have access to them either). And besides, GR flipping is not so much a "deal" as an ongoing thing ;). My TRU's never had a single one of those alleged $5 games. So, yeah, I got Stuntman for $15 from Target, but I will probably return it. Other than that it has been the somewhat meh deals at CC and the Fred Meyer clearance (local NW thing mostly) that have been the best for me the last few months. Before that, of course, Kmart was the best deal location for most of the year. Without Kmart and a couple of trade-in deals (trade 2 Wii games get 1 new at EB/GS and the 50% bonus credit at Gamecrazy) the whole year would have been pretty weak in terms of deals.

Spending break is kinda nice i've spent $25 total this year on games and dvds. $15 of that was on Advance Wars DS here in the trading forums and the other $10 was a private website deal. I've not spent a dime in a retail or online store this year besides groceries and around the house stuff. It's kinda nice actually playing your backlog rather than adding to it.

EDIT: Damn I forgot about the Contra 4 DS game I bought at Gamerush for $25 credit. That cost me maybe $10 cash out of my pocket last year to flip into $25. I've still got a GS & GR credit wad for whenever new games start coming out. :D
 
I haven't gotten a really good deal in a long time, on the other hand I barely noticed. I still have a ton of games and movies to mess with from previous deals
