Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

You can basically friend any of our members, or any moderator, and you will be able to request to join the community under "Communities friends are in" tab, and a mod will approve your request.

You can also leave your PSN ID in the thread, saying you want to join, and we can invite you directly as well.

Didn't preorder SKEV and now I kinda want to grab it today. Best Buy only shows a few stores in the area (Houston) having it available for in store pickup today (as of now). I'm hoping a closer store will have it in stock.

My Aegis just shipped today with a delivery date of today. Yeah right. My Senran shipped on Friday the 11th and is due to get to me tomorrow.

I think they just throw numbers at a wall and see what sticks.

No idea. Aksys published games can be very hit or miss, depending on your tastes. I haven't heard anything particularly bad about it and the developer is Acquire so it should at least be decent enough to try at some point.

EDIT: PS Store has also updated. I'll be posting the free stuff for Neptunia and Senran Kagura later. Want to make sure that it's fully updated, so it probably won't be for another 3-4 hours.

When a game without a discount gets updated with the prime discount of only 20%, thats when I'll believe it doesnt work anymore. You people saying it doesn't work don't actually have any proof it doesn't work anymore because it hasnt happened yet. Its a schrodingers cat, we wont know if it works anymore until it actually happens.

Edit: Oh wait my shiren the wanderer got updated with only a 20% discount. fuck

I will still believe!

Oh man, so excited. Also, it's interesting that instead of showing the original Saber/Caster/Archer setup, this time they show Caster/Saber/Saber. I'm sure there will be more characters, but I'm just a bit curious why they did it this way. (Or I'm just overthinking it)

Plus, I'm guessing Saber class characters fit this Musou-like gameplay better.

I'm about 97.23% certain a placeholder just like Sen 1. That said, judging by Xseed's little updates I think they've conquered the Kiseki curse quite nicely. And WOAH, I missed all the fun on Trails 5th anniversary last Friday - Trails the 3rd in 2017! So we do get that arc completed after all!

Come on Xseed, you've pulled off several miracles; time to pull off Ao and Zero! :pray:

It's a placeholder. XSeed never sets release dates this far out from when a game is projected to be released. You can always consider their placeholder dates a tentative release date, but they are notorious for small delays past their placeholder dates.
 
My Estival Versus came too from Best Buy. It was just the game with a shipping label on it.

Just kidding. It was well packed in a box and came in perfect condition

Here is what Tom from Xseed Games had to say about this:

We do typically sell our LE components separately in our online store when we can, though not usually until the game's been out for a little while. So I wouldn't count on being able to buy extra packs off of us right away, but I think it's fair to say we'll try our best to make this happen as soon as we can -- and we'll try to sell the packs individually rather than randomly, so you guys can specifically collect the sets you're missing.

Please don't quote me on this, though, as we can't guarantee anything since our online store is designed to sell overstock -- which also means that everything will be on a "while supplies last" basis if and when this does happen.

Sorry I can't give a firmer answer, but you're asking questions relating to stuff that hasn't been officially signed off on and is dependent on numerous additional factors. But if you look at our past history with this kind of thing, I think you'll find that we usually come through for the fans in the end, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Even if the double preorder does work its a waste of time when it will be on sale prior to release just like cold steel 1 was. Besides you all know you'll want the le or whatever they release of it.

I have both versions of Senran Kagura coming in the mail today, but knowing my luck the cards inside will be the same...

Anyways, I'll find out later today.

 
I got the hanzo academy cards, but my game came in a bubble mailer and has a nice size crease on one side of the box. The front still looks okay though so I'll probably just keep it.

I got mine in something of a cardboard box along with Goodnight Punpun Vol.1 and it's also creased on the side (left), so it may just be Amazon's shipment was damaged...Though they may be willing to refund some money if you complain,

The more I read about the SK cards the more I feel that they were unofficially retailer based. Amazon is Hanzo, Best Buy seems to be Hebijo and I've been hearing that Crimson is common so it's likely Gamestop. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
