Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

Our CAG Japanese Niche Games Thread also has a community on PS4, where you can interact and game with other members of the thread.

Our moderators are: Draekon, Las_Hole, and Waffleswanton

You can basically friend any of our members, or any moderator, and you will be able to request to join the community under "Communities friends are in" tab, and a mod will approve your request.

You can also leave your PSN ID in the thread, saying you want to join, and we can invite you directly as well.

I really do question why they don't have that as an option as well. Hell they can pocket the shipping for all I care if I pick the option.

Then you might as well as just go to gamestop. I mean amazon warehouse is about 8 hrs drive for me, Best Buy is Ohio. It would benefit so few people.

And thats why I still preorder at GS. Mine was the only preorder so the box had to accommodate it in shipping, which resulted in perfect condition :/

I just was looking and noticed that you can't pre-order Langrisser re:Incarnation Tensei 3ds through Gamestop at all.. What gives ? This game is set to be released on the 19th..
 
Well, apparently I didn't get the pre-order costume DLC for Bravely Second on Amazon. Messaged them and they're offering me $35 in credit instead. I think I'll happily take that since I probably wasn't going to use the costumes anyways. Didn't think it'd be quite that large of an amount.

 
Lucky you. I just keep getting transferred to the wrong departments and being told to wait for promotions to check into my issue (Which they told me on Friday, then told me to contact them for live support in an email today)

Damn... I'd take that $35 in a fuckin' heartbeat!

Initially, I didn't get my DLC code from Best Buy, but I messaged them and they emailed it to me. Last time this happened, they ended up sending me a second code months later. If I get another code for the costumes, I'll give it to you.

Just wanted to say that my heart and prayers go out to those affected by the recent earthquakes in Japan. I know a few people in this thread live there, not sure the specific city or region, but stay safe and take care.

I usually just send an email through their support. I'm not in a rush and it's quicker than tieing myself up on my phone. I keep it short and to the point and very rarely ever have an issue. Still quite surprised at how much they offered me. I wonder if it's due to how much I actually order from Amazon directly.

Honestly, it's not a big deal. I rarely ever actually use alternative costumes. You're more than welcome to sell the second code or give it to someone else. Especially since I'll likely have the game beaten and shelved within a month. I appreciate the offer though.

Not really a first. I've been waiting for Haunting Ground to actually be released on PSN (in US anyways).

No, Nash is part of the original line up roster (and plays very differently then he did before, but in a good way), but not Guile.

(Im curious to see how differently Guile plays in this game...his SF4 version plays so similarly to....pretty much every version he has ever appeared in....most character have significant changes in SFV so yeah.....add some spice to Guile, plz)

Glad someone mentioned this, I wanted to chat about it but didn't want to start up a new thread. This would be an appropriate place.

I'm tempted to pre-order this one. On the one hand, I don't think it includes all of the Corpse Party content. By that, I mean that it doesn't include all of the content from the second and third installments. It will definitely include everything from the original release, as well as bonus content and re-drawn higher-resolution graphics. And as a collector, I definitely appreciate that there is actually going to be a physical release.

But if I do get this, it will be because I'm a collector. I already have the PSP releases on PSN, and have started playing through them. And the impending Steam release sounds like it will also be a great way to play the original game, and will be considerably cheaper for those looking to spare their wallets. So we'll see on this one. The collector in me might cave.

Yes this doesn't have content from the sequels. I believe the PC version will have a Book of Shadows chapter, but the 3DS version has extra chapters unique to it (this would likely be my choice). Honestly you may want to wait and see if the game drops in price after release like the most recent Vita version in the series did. I'm playing the waiting game for now.

Yeah, I kind of just threw everything up there to see what stuck. I do think Song of the Deep looks good, and the Twilight Zone thing could be cool, but probably won't be. Lol. I can just cut those when I edit it or add something later. :)

I'll wait until a little closer to release, but I may just pre-order this eventually. I like it when XSeed releases obscure stuff, and I don't mind giving them full retail for some of the more esoteric offerings. I'll probably try to play through my PSN copy. If I like it enough I'll pony up for this physical release. It is the first time the game has gotten a physical copy in the US, after all.

Update on BB Bravely Second CE missing the mini figurine, they called me this morning and asked if it would be ok to refund me $10 since sending a gift card would take two weeks (for whatever reason). I mentioned again that the dlc code had not come and was told it would be another 24 hours :\
