Steam has shut down this group and other groups related to trading and good deals. A dick move on their part.
Wow.. what a dick move. I guess the competition is hurting them...lol so they try to silence competition in the hopes people just buy off steam.

I guess they think people aren't capable of going online, idiots.

Just saw a topic about it on SteamGifts http://www.steamgifts.com/forum/nG1jT/steam-groups-disabled-tradersguild-cheap-ass-gamer

All they've accomplished by doing this is making me want to buy from other sites. A majority of the games added to my Steam library last year didn't even come from Steam itself - mostly Amazon, Humble Bundles, and Indie Gala.

EDIT: Response from Steam Support: http://forums.steamgames.com/forums/showpost.php?p=33804738&postcount=22

I apologize for the confusion, but the investigation has been conculded.

The lock on the group is not going to be removed because advertising and sales groups are not permitted on steam.

This is covered in the SSA and the Rules of conduct.

This is really lame. The focus of the group wasn't even to provide information for the best deals around. Not a very smart move on Steam's part, since it accomplished nothing but to piss people off.
invite sent... oh wait....
Wow... Read this earlier today and didn't see it but setup the URL when I got home and just quick posted... Figures.

That truly is a dumb decision by Valve. Taking down these groups makes me less informed about what games are on sale, decreasing the amount of money I'm gonna be spending on Steam.

Is anyone working on getting the group back? Did Valve say anything on why the group was disabled in the first place?

Where is the person responsible for the group?

This may be bad timing, but i have $40.00 on my steam account and would be willing to unload this for $30.00 paypal. i know i can't transfer steam credit to another account, but i can purchase items as gifts in exchange. pm if interested, thanks for reading.
