Katamari Forever PS3 $20.51 q/FSSS

gamerdogbert

CAGiversary!
Katamari Forever has at long last dropped to $21.61 on Amazon, sold by Hubbagames & fulfilled by Amazon, qualifies for Free Super Saver Shipping or Amazon Prime. And if Hubbagames's allocation sells out, it is also listed for $22.07 sold by NYC Electronics & fulfilled by Amazon, too.

EDIT: Currently $20.51 from both sellers.

Wow, good deal! I kind of forgot I wanted this game after the Xbox version flopped, and/or people told me that you needed DLC or something to play it, but I had always wanted an HD Katamari.

I guess I just sort of forgot about it while the price went down, but I imagine it won't get much lower than this, I might as well start putting another amazon order together (need to get at least something else to get the free shipping :p , anyone have any other good deals from there lately? My Alan Wake CE is already on it's way so can't do that :p ).

As usual I would wonder about the sudden price drop, is it possible a new Katamari announcement is on the Horizon? Considering this is a compilation anyway that is the one thing that would stop me from jumping on this.

I know the creator left Namco, and he's working on something else entirely. The MSRP for the game dropped to $29.99, so I'd assume it's just people burning off inventory.

The MSRP has been $29.99 for over 3 months now. This is just Amazon finally opening up their overstock to the 3rd-party sellers to clear out some stagnant inventory. Might I suggest picking up a copy of Clive Barker's Jericho for $4.99 to round out your free shipping ;)

Yeah, I seriously doubt that there will ever be another Katamari game, and this is the definitive one to have.

If you wait until tomorrow, the price may drop by one more dollar (that's what happened with Eternal Sonata the day before this) but it could just as easily sell out, too. Gamble at your own risk, depending how important that extra buck is to you.

Thanks for the heads up! I may grab that Katamari; I've been hunting for it lately, but I think it's been in high demand and out of stock at many spots, even for used copies, and that has kept the price higher. This is a good price for it.

i jumped on it because of this reason. Hard to find used or even new in stores, and it appears to only be harder to find. I haven't played it yet, but i love katamari

Game still costs about $28 used at gamestop, even with MSRP being $29.99 now. I managed to pick up a copy from ebay for $20 shipped about a month ago. Definitely a game worth the price, I have yet to look back on it.

Kinda sad that there will be no more katamari games, at least not from the mind of the original creator.

In for 1, thanks op.

I was going to buy through Hubbagames since they were the cheapest ($20.52) but I forgot they charge tax in FL. Instead I went with that NYC company which was $20.72, no tax, and still prime eligible.

It's now $20.51 through both Hubba and NYCE, both w/ FSSS. I snapped it up w/ Prime. Thanks!!!

(I'm a fan of the series and have a 1.5yr/old kid, so this is total gravy.)
Hope it drop down $15 or less :)
or it will backfire like the xbox 360 version which is worth more now

Is this new or remixed Katamari content? Is there much new to see if you've already got the original, We Love Katamari, and Beautiful Katamari?

Its, for the most part, remixed content from the older games. I guess it just really depends on how much you like Katamari, and if having it in HD is appealing or not. I was a little underwhelmed by the game.

Thanks, picked one up. I have a feeling that we won't see it drop much more than this before it disappears altogether. Namco games can have a funny way of doing that.

Thanks OP. Finally picked this up. I was waiting for it to appear in one of Gamefly's deals, but I've been itching for some more Katamari and the price is right.

The levels are a mix of (mostly) old and some new. The story and music are new. New visual look. Same multiplayer, but it's local only; it lost online play (no big loss. I didn't care for it.) Some new game modes are added (like one where there's no time limit, you can just leasurely roll around). New features like the prince can jump or turn the katmari into a vacum.

I love Katamari games, so this is worth it to me.

BTW, I wish they'd make a Katamari that had online play and let you and a friend play the regular campaign levels, each with their own Katamari, just playing as normal. Just play w/ the usual timelimit. That would be super relaxing.

Aaaand, I bought one. :)

I added in a copy of The Club for $8.49 to get myself free shipping.

Grabbed a copy of Katamari Forever from Warehouse Deals last night for $18.99 w/ free Prime shipping. Gotta stop looking at the Warehouse, spent way too much moola these last few weeks.
Perfect timing on the price drop as I've been feenin' for some katamari action again. In for one!

Thanks, OP!

Yea was waiting out for a price drop on this too. Thanks op.

Considering this game is now 13 months old, basically a whole year, I'm kind'a hoping it would be lower.

I got Beautiful Katamari on the 360 for $7 at Target over a year ago.

I also have Katamari for the old PS2, and both that and the 360 games are basically similar, so I'll just stick to playing them.

Thanks though.

I was deliberating whether to get this since I already own several other Katamari and it look similar from trailers.
I bought it anyway since there is some interesting levels and who know what happen tomorrow. I can't find this in store here either.
In any case, this about the same price I bought the PS2 version way back when so I don't see why not. Hard for me to pass on opportunities for offline co-op actions.
Thanks OP and those who posts comments about the game!

i got this in a couple of days ago (at the $24 price point) and i though the game was spectacular...
until one of my homies came over and was hella disappointed. most of the levels just lifted from the older games that he owns. so if you are an old katamari fan, you'll be disappointed. since i've never played katamari for more than 5 min. while chillin at a friend's house, i thought this game was sick. it is a lengthy game too! but even that is dependent on whether you played all these rehashed levels before lol

Thankfully, I knew that going in. I basically see this game as an HD remake with some cool filters added.

I bought the original and then barely played it (I got enough watching friends play it to death).
I figure an HD version for the same price as the game I bought years ago...worth a shot.

How is hubbagames and NYC electronics? I usually don't buy from 3rd party vendors, and I see Amazon still has it in stock, but at $29.99.

Considering they have a 98% positive rating with around 50,000 ratings each, I would say they're pretty reliable. Especially since this game is still fulfilled by Amazon.

My experience with 3rd party vendors that have their product fulfilled by Amazon has been very good so far.

Well I decided to bite, I doubt the game will drop much more than this considering it's scarcity. I had some Amazon credit to drop the price to $15, which is pretty decent.

Any time that a game is "Fulfilled by Amazon" that means it will actually be shipped to you by Amazon itself, the 3rd-party vendor has nothing to do with it. If you order other items from Amazon at the same time, they will all come in one package because it is a guy at Amazon packing it up just like normal.

The only difference with the 3rd-party sellers is that you don't get Amazon's return policies, can't contact Amazon's customer service about it, have to pay sales tax if the 3rd-party seller is in your state, and you usually can't apply any existing Amazon credit to the purchase.

Are you talking about 3rd-party sellers in general without fulfillment? I believe Amazon fulfilled items by 3rd party sellers are almost like buying the item from Amazon itself since Amazon handles all customer service and returns. It's the fulfillment policy that allows me to even consider buying from a 3rd party in the first place.

You're right, I just looked it up. That's something new since the last time I had read up on it. They must've changed that policy sometime in the last 2 years. Cool.

If I see something from a 3rd party seller but fulfilled by Amazon, I have total trust in it. I know it's Prime eligible and will ship quickly in their packaging.

Basically an HD with graphics upgrade version of Katamari Damacy for the old PS2 which I got at Circuit City for $5.

I don't know if the 4 new levels are worth spending another $20+ though...

Tempting to pick up, but I'll pass.
