Last read not working right for anyone else?

A couple weeks ago the forums stopped recognizing read threads correctly. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to it. Is anyone else experience this? Also, how does the site track that, in a cookie or internally?

Firefox 2.0.0.3/Ubuntu 7.0.3
 
I've noticed that if my post were the last in a thread, it sometimes will 'disappear' until I actually go back INTO that thread.

I don't know what's wrong, but it may have something to do with the early time switch in the US, where they started/ended daylight savings time early. I noticed the same 1 hour or so difference on Gamefaqs too.
