LEGO Deals

Just wanted to thank everyone who posted about the Walmart clearance. I was able to get the Troll Warship and MX-81 for $30 each. They also had a number of the Bionicle set. I had hoped to get the Indiana Jones set, but alas it was not there.

Yeah, same deal with the one near me ... all the sets were there, ample supply ... no discount ... guess it's a wait and see thing, they have to drop eventually right ... right ...

I'm way jealous of all you lucky enough to find these sets marked down. I've checked four local Wal-Marts and at all of them they were still full price. I hate how W's clearance is hit and miss...

Don't worry two hours later she was driving me to the hospital and wasted 4 hours there to tell me what isn't wrong with me. The doctor was also a socialist and a male nurse was checking me out. :)

"The doctor was also a socialist" I don't see why this would come up. I don't tend to discuss economic philosophy with my doctors.
Surprise, surprise! I actually found 4 of the Troll Warships for $30 a piece at my local Wal-Mart!

The only other Lego I saw on clearance was this Bionicle vehicle for $30: http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?p=8943&cn=541&d=351

Republic Gunship and Akator Temple were not on clearance.
I found the Bionicle vehicle at Wal-mart in Port Orange, fl, they had a few left if anyone is interested, as of last night that is. It was showing marked at 76.00 still, checked it and it was 30.00 so lucked out, thanks.

I went to 2 walmarts yesterday, and neither had any castle sets at all, uness there was some hidden clearance section...

I love Star Wars Legos and even I think the Twilight is an ugly pile of bricks...although at $50 I might have picked it up last week when I was at the store. I did buy the Space Skulls after all.

For those of you who can't get the Walmart Legos on clearance there is a way to do it. I really wanted that Star Wars Republic Gunship but my store sold its last one at $99 months ago. There's no way I could let xycury get one and not me.

So I drove to my usual goldmine store which is 50 miles away and picked up the Crystal Skull set and Troll ship set at the $30 price as they weren't even marked as on clearance. On the entire Lego shelf there was only one of those little "check me out" sticking out shelf tags...of course it said Star Wars Legos $35, and of course the freakin shelf was empty.

Didn't give up though. I went to a store that did not have the Gunship on clearance and bought it for $118. Then I took it to my store where it was $35 and went to customer service and asked for a price adjustment because it was cheaper now. All four of the ladies couldn't believe that the price had dropped that much that fast!?!? They gave me back the difference and I ran outta there.

You can check to see which stores have the sets cheap by printing the barcodes and scanning them at the price checkers in the stores. That's how I found out about the price drops last week. If they refuse to refund you the difference just return the whole set (unopened) and you can come back and buy it later when they put it back one the shelf.

Hope this helps some of you who have stores with different prices and stock.

Doctors...hospitals...if you die can I have your Legos?

We were making fun of the health care system in this country and he said "We all need to move to Canada". The Republicans will go after him for being an evil Nazi socialist commie. :)

And you have to check several places in Walmart. I have gone to Walmarts where they have had 3-4 section for LEGO clearance.

No.

haha well congrats for getting that cheap SW set.

Yeah Walmart shouldn't be too bad about it, their clearence should be nation wide but it isn't, which is stupid because there are like 3 within a 30 min radius of me.

I could eaisily do that, which is legal.

So If you have a Barcode, scan it, see if they dropped it, and go pick it up somewhere else.

The barcode is nation wide, and they honor price drops as long as you don't already buy them at clearance. Once they are on clearance, I dont' think WM will honor it anymore.

I wish I could have known who was the person or persons that picked up the rest of the SW sets... a SD/FW bastid or what because they had 5 ... I picked up 1 and they had sold in 5 hours.

Lol, says the guy who bought out the stock of Troll Warships ;-)

Well that's different, I'm keeping them, I'm sure the one person that bought them is aiming to resell them.

And how do you know that?
And how do you know that?
Guessing, but there were 4 left, within 5 hours of them dropping, I really doubt there were SW Lego fans out here... it's a teeny town.... all the sets gone?....

Just guessing.

My Walmart JUST dropped the Troll Warship to $60 (the sticker said 3/6/09). And it was buried on the other side of the store in a CLEARANCE aisle. Everything else is still full price (scan checked.)

I don't think I'd pick up The Twilight for more than $20--that was easily last year's WORST SET EVER.

Anyone know if some Walmarts are a week or two behind on clearance sales? None of the Walmarts around here have dropped the cost of their sets yet and all have a pretty good supply (Nor Cal). I'm just wondering if it's typical to see drops shortly after or if it means there will be no drops for these stores in the near future.

A friend of mine from Long Island emailed me with this info...

Agents silver car 50 buck set for......$19 I also bought 3 Police Helicopters for $3 each! I too saw the Troll ship for $30 but didn't think too much of the set itself or the parts (except for the Green Troll).

Not all Walmarts are on clearance, it's almost never nation wide.

Where does one have to go to buy older lego sets? I want to get some of the sets from the Ninja series, but being discontinued like 6+ years ago they're not in any store that I know of. Just for kicks I hit up the local TRU, Target, and Wal-mart today and only found modern sets.

Am I forced to scrounge fleaBay? Or Bricklink?

Ruahrc

^ Yep.

I loved the Ninjas when I was younger, but I think I only bought one set, very sad. Stores used to be able to carry a few year older sets. Like they would have the 2009, 2008, and 2007 sets for the most part. However that changed a few years ago and it's buy it while you can. Kids today suck and LEGO needs to move with them. No store would carry 10 year old sets through. haha

You could try Craigslist....

You can buy "a" ninja in the Lego Store classic figures set from the Lego store ... but that's about the last remnant of ninja's I've seen. If you're looking at stores, your best bet is to find small stores that carried Lego in the past ... or Salvation Army / Good Will type stores. It's a total crapshoot but you aren't going to find them new anywhere else. LEGOs disappear fast ...

Nice finds, I kinda feel like exo-force and speed racer sets are never going to be worth anything tho? Are these worth picking up for the build, the exo-force one looks kinda cool and I've seen the speed racer sets on clearance but I guess i've gotten used to thinking of them as the black sheep of the lego series that have come out lately. Anyone have any hands on experience with these 2 sets?

I think the Exo-force could have been better if it was built better. They tried to marry brick with bionicle and it just didn't look the the greatest and was a bit hard to play with. Anime and giant robots, good idea but came out a bit clumsy. I'm sure Lego may reinvent the series later, it has some quailty to it, some of the non-robot vehicles are great. I think the Golden Guardian from the last of the series was one of the best, it looked like a Gundam. I think the rest of the series need a bit more blocks to cover the look more.

I do enjoy them because they do offer quite a bit of unique with general purpose blocks.

I'm debating on the Striking Venom one because of the extra figures it comes with. It's just not as easy to play with I suppose. It looks wonderful though.

As for the other set, the Speed Racer movie bombed and this was a short lived license. If the set was a bit better, and maybe at 35, but I think it's too much, could always pair it up with this years racer parts.

The first year Exo-Force sold great. It was the second year with less pieces and badly designed sets that killed the theme. Last year's sets were nice but LEGO already ditched the theme because of 2007.

And yeah the Speed Racer set should be $35. I think $335 would be a good price for three big cars, the parts and the minifigures.

Target has impulse sets in their Easter candy section of the store along with some other Easter basket toys. I saw the Fireman, Policeman with dog, and the two pirate impulse sets...all $3.49 They also had two Star Wars minifigs...the V-Torrent and General Grievous ship for $3.99 each.

Damnit I was just at a target too :( didn't even bother to look at what they had for easter.

Mini ships, they aren't figures. ;)

mini ships are neat, I'll have to pick up some for the nehpews, maybe more minifigs for me!

I went back to the original store I went to that had all those clearance sets, but they were all gone. They still had the large IJ and SW sets at full price, so I picked them up. I was able to get the price adjustment for the IJ (thanks 180husher!) but I haven't found a WM with the gunship for $30 yet. I can also now return the IJ set I paid $64 for. Great deals!

I can't wait till those Easter impulse sets go on clearance. Last time I managed to get two copies of the Troll impulse sets for like $.75 each!

How the hell are impulse sets go on clearence, they are the cheapest bestest lego ever!

Who the hell is Target thinking of ordering that much to have extra go on clearence....

Target doesn't have Impulse sets that often, so when they get them they think they are a holiday toy. So instead of just moving it to the toy area they have it for 90% off like the easter stuff.

And who orders that much? EVERYONE! Why do you think we are in the mess we are in? :)

Ah crap, I didn't even think about these legos going on clearance since they are easter stuff...I paid full price for those suckers. Oh well, I'll just get some extras if they do. The V-19 Torrent is actually fairly cool with all 3 wings/tails folding and probably close to scale with the republic cruiser that is coming out this year.

I don't know, maybe I am the only guy from the NW here, or maybe I am the only one who goes to Fred Meyer, but all Lego sets are 20% off this week there.

:whee::whee::whee:

My quest to find any sort of clearance legos has finally ended. The Lexington, VA Wal-Mart had the Indiana Jones Jungle Cutter for $15. Not my absolute first choice but I'm happy enough. There are all kinds of random bugs and stuff with the thing. I never knew there was a Lego frog until yesterday.

The cutter set comes with a frog? Awesome! I only have one frog... and no banana because they stopped making that IJ set for no reason!!!
My medieval market village is supposed to arrive today. Woo.
Oh yeah, well mine will be here in a month and a half, so there.

Indy & the Lost Tomb is on clearance at some Targets for $13.98 (probably only smaller Targets, not the SuperTargets that have more shelf space). Seems like a decent deal, considering it has 277 pieces, Marion, and a lot of snakes.

Just found it for half off ($9.97) at a SuperTarget, so you should be able to find this deal at most Targets.

Ha, my son asked for that set this Monday and I said no because it wasn't on sale, which is really my answer for anything I don't want to buy him. If he sees that red clearance sticker, he won't fall for it again.

I wonder why Target does this. They have their xmas clearance, their summer clearance, and then they sprinkle in random sets here and there like the Batman penguin sub set about six months ago, the AT-ST about a year ago, and now this solitary IJ set. Guess I'll be scanning a bunch of sets tomorrow...hope my store jumped straight to 50% off.
Deal of the year!

Great product review:
"you can use for anything, you can even put it on your keys."

Imagine that...putting keys on a keychain. Wish I had thought of that.

I thought there was only one $20 IJ set but I forgot about the River Chase set which is the one my Target has in stock. The only IJ set they don't have is the one Bingo said is on clearance! Guess I'll have to check a couple of other stores later this week.
