Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust (360) -- $19.99 @ GameStop

I really don't care how terrible this game is...as long as it's funny and dirty. The last LSL game was hilarious. Does it even matter if the game is any good? In Magna Cum Laude, one of the mini games was guiding sperm to the "finish line". What more could you possibly want from gaming?

It could be they are getting them today in their shipments. The same thing happened with Destroy All Humans: Path of the Furons. I had to wait until the UPS truck came to get my game. The Frys near me is going to have the game at around Noon so I think everyone is waiting for their trucks to come in.

Agreed, I like Magna Cum Laude. Its funny I was actually going to wait for this to drop to around 20 or under to pick it up. Guess didn't have to wait long LOL.

im going to keep an eye on this, when it its less than $10 ill grab it.
anything more, no thanks
thanks for the heads up though op

doesn't look like you'll have to wait too long.
Is this the very first budget priced 360 release? I don't recall any other game coming out at $19.99.
Good question. If that's the case I hope there is a trend brewing. I know that Sonic Genesis collection came out at a lower price than most other titles, so who knows?

Another thing weird about this game is that there have been no reviews. A little odd. I will bite for 20. Even though this game may turn out to be a turd, I have too many fond memories of Larry and all the other Sierra greats.

Well the official price at release is $29.99. Everyone else is still selling at that price. Gamestop just tends to be a couple weeks ahead of price drops and in this case perhaps even farther ahead.

Bad sign whenever this happens for games or movies as usually it is an embargo of some sort not allowing reviewers to release reviews for the opening day/weekend.

That said I did run across one review:
http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/leisure-suit-larry-box-office-bust/review/

I also looked it up on IGN, & although they hadn't reviewed it yet, they did have 1 other press rating listed. And that was a 4/10, lol. I'll think about this one.

Thanks for that. Looks like I won't be biting at $20. I imagine it will be pretty easy to find it used quite quickly, so I might get it during a B2G1.

Seems pretty lame from what I've read about it and the quick drop probably reflects that, but it's a half decent price, so i think i'll grab one.

Did anyone check out with it? When I went to the final screen to pay for it, it said my cart is empty. Added in again and same thing.

Anyone else?

The GameStop site currently says "Not Available Online". So there's Gamestop.com earning their worst online retailer award. I don't know what this means for the game in stores, as my GS said it would be in today. Can anyone here confirm that yes they have seen the game on shelves or bought it? And was it $20?
This has gotta be a pricing error
Not likely. They had the MSRP at $30 and did the price drop to $20. They have done this many times in the past before games are released and sometimes they are still $10 cheaper several months after release. I suspect they just use their clout with distributors and publishers to get a better rate on games they know aren't very good and then try to corner the market on whatever trickle of sales they can get off a mediocre game like this.

The thing you have to like about this is whether it's a poorly made game or not, at least they have the decency to recognize it and price it accordingly. How many piece of crap games have we seen thumb their nose at the gaming public and have the audacity to charge $59.99? (Too Human, Turning Point, F4: RotSS, Eragon, etc.) Say what you want about the quality here, but at least you're not getting ripped off.

Just for anyone seriously considering this, the controls are bad and the camera is really bad too. I'd say even $20 is too much for this game.

This. I played it yesterday and after around 30 minutes I was done. The camera is the worst part.

Same here, Magna Cum Laude was hilarious on the pc.
I might pick one up and flip on Goozex for 1000 points.
This. Maybe, just maybe my wife will want to play it .

I found it a Fry's for 27.99 but they price matched it down to 19.99 with a printout of the Gamestop web page.

Well, I got my Leisure Suit on today. I played for about an hour, and so far, it doesn't seem as bad as advertised, but it's not as good as Magna Cum Laude either.

What I like: GREAT cast. Starting with the ladies: Carmen Electra, Shannon Elizabeth, and Nikki Cox (and Jane Lynch..but meh). Then we've got Jay Mohr, Dave Attell, Tom Arnold, Artie Lange, Jeffrey Tambor, and Peter Graves. Best of all, the story is written by Allen Covert.

What I don't like: In an hour of gameplay, I found not nearly as much to interact with as in the last game. There's a perfectly good laptop next to Larry's bed that provides no funny moments, and a TV playing scrambled porn that evokes no witty remarks from Larry. In Magna Cum Laude, you could even interact with things like the radio, telephone, etc. in Larry's dorm.

My only other minor complaint thus far is that the controls feel loose. Nowhere near broken, but loose. Steering the vehicles is usually a swerve fest, and using the right stick to rotate the camera usually results in a mildly dizzying whipping sensation. In my opinion, the humor makes up for it though. You just don't get this kind of subject matter in any other game. It's great for a laugh, especially for anyone who enjoys comedies of the Sandler/Apatow persuasion.

Well, gamestop.com shipped my order yesterday, but unlike when i confirmed and got my e-mail confirmation, instead of being charged $20 each, they charged me $30 each. So needless to say, I am pretty pissed right now. Working on giving them a call and hell. Just another notch in the shitty customer service Gamestop continues to provide

I loved Magna Cum Laude but this one doesn't seem as funny and has awful controls and camera angles. I love when I'm doing something like walking a tight rope or wall jumping and decides to do something crazy with the camera and F me up. I bought it mainly for the story but don't find it that funny yet. Only like 90 minutes into it.

Same thing happened to me. I just called and they said they are shipping me a $10.00 gift card instead of refunding my money. After a few minutes of arguing they were not going to budge since the gift card was already sent. I'll have to figure out a way to make this work in my favor....

Wow, thats not cool at all. You authorized them to charge your Credit card $20.00+shipping and if that what you saw on your final confirmation screen then thats what should be charged.

It is illegal to tell someone you are going to take $20, then after agreement actually take $30 and after complaint say you wont give the money back. Doesn't matter if they offer a gift card, that card isn't as valuable as cash.

Assuming you used a credit card and not a debit card:
I would call again and ask for the money back and threaten a chargeback. If they still wont budge I don't think the credit card company would have any problem going through with the chargeback, and gamestop might get in trouble by visa or mastercard or whatever card you used and be more careful about this in the future.

For those who don't know what a chargeback is:

I would call your credit card company immediately. They will do the chargeback and chances are you will get to keep both the game and the gift card. This is straight up fraud and Gamestop is rolling into some very dangerous territory here.
I don't think this game is even out yet, even though it says in stock it doesn't show any within a 100 mile radius
I was at a Gamestop yesterday and they had it. It is out.

How big of a part does Artie Lange have in this? I heard them talking about it on the air on Stern once, but Artie seemed pretty clueless about it, other than the fact that he got paid $20K or $10k for very little work.

No Gamestop stores within 100 miles of me has this in stock. Either the $20 pricepoint made it extremely hard to come across, or they haven't gotten shipments in yet. I find it hard to believe that it's sold out everywhere within 100 miles unless each store only got one.

That's pretty much the only reason I liked Magna Cum Laude.

my Gamestop had like...2 in-stock

He's got a decent sized part. At least, he's very prominent in the beginning of the game. His character runs the mail room, which is where Larry starts out. You begin by running a bunch of errands for him. And he calls you things like a "fucking tard"...which is always nice.

No offense Scorch, but you know this from calling...or from sitting on your ass and checking the stock locator online? Because the stock locator doesn't work for any city I tested (at least it didn't last night). Just for good measure, I tried 10112 (NYC) and it said the same thing. Yet, my store right down the street had it. Best of all, they gave me one that that WASN'T gutted. It's definitely worth looking into though.

Well by the time I got home, Gamestop credited only $10 instead of $20 as I bought 2 games. So I had to call and get into a long arguement that I ordered 2 copies and there is no way that would all add up to $60. The girl put me on hold, and I guess after finally doing the math, she realized I was right. So I have a second $10 credit coming to my account.

Sucks the other guy has only a gift card sent to him, I made sure I got it back to my account.
