Thanks for the change age link, changed to 1994 and found skittles and slim jim immediately
I changed my age and only found the Slim Jim ad. I really want that Skittles prop!

BTW I think someone had mentioned the Slim Jim shirt was male only. It's not. I'm female and got it.

To keep people updated, I changed my age to 18 and I did get both the skittles and slim jim ad on the very first try. I did not change my location though. Before, I was logged in as a 26yo, male gamer in OK USA. So it should only be the age you need to change.. Maybe gender?

This upsets me a great deal as I spent hours upon days trying to get these ads to appear, to then find out that I was too old by their standards to be included. I'm only 26. I'm not ancient by any means. And I very much wanted the stuff from skittles and slim jim. Especially the skittles prop. I don't know if it was microsoft or the companies advertising on microsoft that decided to exclude me, but it was some pretty outright stupid marketing. Even if microsoft didn't decide to do it, they allowed someone to do it. I'm now sick of both of those companies. Hopefully the rest of the people who advertise on microsoft learn from their mistakes. Don't exclude people. Unless you think anyone over 18 shouldn't be buying your products that is. I know I sure won't be for a while. :p And money talks.

PS. Thank you greatly Discus for posting how to get those. I wouldn't have at all without you. :)

Sigh, all marketers target their advertisements to key demographics. Ever wonder why there are so many laundry detergent and toy commercials during children's programing? They are targeting the kids and the home makers (presumably) watching with them.

Skittles and slim jims are far more likely to sell to a 18-22 or so age group. Those brands, in deciding how much marketing to pay for, decided to focus on those demographics and paid for it. It isn't that Microsoft or Skittles thinks you wouldn't want a free avatar prop, it's that Skittles wants to spend their money in a way they think will maximize their return.

No need to be so condescending (yet again...)

I am a female yet I see ads for AXE spray, a lot of them too, this is obviously a product that I would not use as a 30 year old female so I think they are off a bit in their marketing.

I seem to get the WoW ad to show up every time I start up to the dash though.
How are people getting the WoW ad on the dashboard beta? I've seen a few people mention they found it on the beta. I'm in the US.
read the previous posts dude

If you change your gae to 18 can you change it back to your original age? I'm 22 and have yet to get the skittle ad even after countless attempts
I'm asking because I know there are limitations to being 18 or under (parental guidance and whatnot) and I don't want those.

See no reason you couldn't change your age right back with the same link. Although I can't say for sure. I just left mine as is.

I agree with you 100% BudzMcGee, and I know you're right. I knew demographics were behind this the whole time. It doesn't change the fact that they cut me out though. They've lost my money. For now at least. I do love their products.. But the marketing plan they used proved faulty. All the people here can attest to that. I know they likely won't; but I posted my opinions of their tactics in hopes that they may see them and not do it again. (And don't worry, I didn't read your comment as condescending. lol)

I am using the Beta Dashboard and changed my age. Using the search to find Game Marketplace method, I have gotten the WOW and Skittle ads now. Still looking for the Slim Jim and Verizon (want that hoverboard).

Haha, but don't you see? It did work! You're already a customer, so they don't need to advertise to you, and you admit you're going back to them sooner or later.

Finally tried the age thing on a junk silver account. Got the skittles ad right away using the two controller trick. Haven't seen the Slim Jim one yet.

I don't see an app, is there a link?
I don't see an app, is there a link?
Don't think there is an app, think it's that Live player they use for the events like this. Guessing the day of it will be on the dash, select from there.

I hope I manage to get that free Halo 4 outfit. Ugh, I hope I don't have to watch each debate in their entirety to get it.

19 here, and I still haven't seen the Slim Jim ad. Wasn't it supposed to focus on players aged 18 to 22?

I think I had to download the Live Event Player from the app store in order to watch both the Republican & Democratic National Conventions, but can't recall for sure. I heard elsewhere that the Live Event Player only shows up in the app marketplace when there is an event about to happen. If that is the case, then it should show up by the 3rd.

If you are a member of X-Box live rewards and you have a US gold account, you now can get rewards and 1 or 2% back in money (probably MS Points) for your purchases depending on your gamerscore (achievements).

Enjoy!

You have to watch 3 of 4 debates for at least 30 minutes each.

Well, if anyone wants 14 day gold trial you can get them free now. If you download the Monster Hunter demo on the jp dashboard and do the generate code, its either glitched or XBL is actually giving away 14 day trials. Also I don't know if this affects it, but I've only entered the codes on Xbox.com and then went on Xbox and it said 14 day gold trial.

Well THAT explains lots now. LoL!!!

If I had known it was 14 days, I would have not have used two on my sons account 2 days after the 1st one.

Oh well. Live and learn.

Just make some more silver accounts (you don't even need to use a real email lol) and get the 14 day gold instead of the 48 hours while they last.
jp as in Japanese?
yeah, this has been out a while, aparently code only works for jap accounts so in your settings just change your location and it should work, then change it back, although it may now be universal codes. or First make sure you are logged into Xbox.com and then go to http://xbox360.mh-frontier.jp/contents/48h_play/
Press the big red arrow button. Then press the white box that says Xbox on it.
The first code is the 48-hour Xbox Live Gold code and the second code is the region locked game code.
The game code is just for a trial/demo of the game.
For those wondering, the rewards program birthday gift is 20 ms points. Don't spend em all in one place.
hahaha cheers for the update, my birthday in 16 days so 20 points for me, 380 to go till the walking dead episode 2

Or just download the demo file, drop it into Horizon on your USB, put your USB into your Xbox, load the demo with all your account (any region) get the code, put it into Xbox.com, and get a free 15 day gold trial :bouncy:

For the debate, there is an a app called "Live Event Player". You can also watch it with the nbc app, but I would use the event player just to make sure it counts.

i tried but i cannot find where to go to after you click the red arrow
how do you get the free code? im lost on the page
If the site is too confusing, I'll tell you what worked for me: Create a Japanese Silver account (or change your location if that's possible) and search for "Monster Hunter" in games. Download the demo (figuring out how to do so shouldn't be too hard if you're familiar with the dashboard, even if it is all in Japanese). As soon as you open the demo, it will give you two codes. Use the one that says "XBOX 48" by it.

I finally got the Skittles prop!

It might be a new ad. I thought I remember people mentioning that that it was just a picture to click into. This was a full ad video with extras such a a Skittles game to download to your phone.

I finally found the skittles ad! I almost skipped passed it while going to netflix... I didn't have to make a new account. I am 30 and I see the slim jim ads a ton.
