I predict there's going to be ALOT of toes stepped on and hurt feelings as people make their own levels. But as long as the system to report/remove them isn't biased and keeps certain ones while deleting those with the same kind of content, then we'll be ok.

I can only imagine how many copies of other popular shows people are going to make levels based on(Simpsons, South Park, etc, etc).

Mind you, I'd like to make one or two spoofing historical figures, but I'm sure the ones I'm thinking of would be removed post haste.

Of course, I also predict there's going to be a million '360 RROD' levels before long as well. It's a given.

I look forward to seeing what original content people make. I already made some character designs and plan on designing a whole world with the retail version, but I'm going to set aside a ton of time just for that.

They said they'll have a patch Day 1, but Sony said it wasn't good enough for those who didn't have an internet connection.

My Opinion: REALLY? For those who have a PS3, who doesn't have a quality internet connection? And if you didn't have one, why would you buy LBP?

My level plans: I plan on trying to make Super Metroid, or at least a part of it. I'd call it Super Sacktroid.
 
i'd imagine they'll provide a *bundled supplement disc rather than trash all those copies.
Maybe throw a sticker on the package saying requires update etc.

Would make more since economically at least.

Not everyone can get high speed internet, be it here in the US or abroad.
Also, last time I checked, there is single player and local multiplayer.
 
I just spent 2 hours playing this with my wife. Fun times had by all! Totally the killer app for the PS3, if you ask me. It feels more real than any other game I've ever played. I can't wait to design some levels.
 
This is my first post, but I just have to tell someone about this.


I was in the PS3 aisle at Blockbuster earlier this evening, when much to my surprise, I see a copy of LBP. I took it up to the front counter and kind of played stupid, and...long story short...I HAVE LITTLEBIGPLANET!

My gf and I have been playing 2 player co-op for about 3 hours now. It is beyond addictive.

The only problem I'm having is when the game starts up it says there's an error connecting to the LBP network. I checked my connection and it's fine. I'm assuming the network just isn't up yet.

Anyway, if you guys have any questions about it, ask and i'll let you know!
 
I am so jealous of the people that have LBP. I was seriously gonna take the day off school to get it, but now I gotta wait a week, and I think I have some important experiments that need done then for my research :( Ah well, it's not like I don't have a backlog to keep me occupied.

I totally didn't expect to get the game today. I was just hoping for it next week some time. I got the game for about $37 after live.com cashback AND I get it 3 weeks earlier than streetdate? How fucking lucky is that?

The new street date is 10/27..
 
Local game store had it early, but all their remaining copies were pre-orders :cry:. They will supposedly get another shipment next week, but I highly doubt that will happen.

The shipment will come next week, they'll just be dated for the 27th, although considering the delay situation Sony probably wont be able to stop smaller stores from breaking the new street date.

And remember you can make highly offensive levels and just not publish them globally. You can still share them with your friends though as far as I understand.

I think that what he is saying, which I will confirm, is that there is almost no reason to buy this game if you don't have online capability. Single-player mode and co-op are ok, but the replayability of this game will come from the online levels that people make. If you aren't in on that, let me save you some money and tell you: "don't buy it!".

Personally I loved the beta and hopefully my amazon order will make it here the day it comes out(doubtful). But if I didn't have online capability there is no way I'm touching this game with a 10 foot pole.
 
Supposedly the developer-made levels are very good and there are quite a lot. Also remember, anyone with no internet doesn't have it for any other game either, so this will still probably be one of the better experiences you could have. I still expect them to release fairly cheap discs with highly rated downloadable levels for people with no internet access, and maybe pay some of the creators a bit.

Sweet. Thanks for the heads up. They offered to hold me a copy for a fiver but I declined thinking the delay would affect the shipping dates. Guess I'm off to the store :D.

They've always removed offensive content, even from the beta.
That level with pictures of porn didn't last long.
 
Ay fellas, I have my LBP (friend is a manager at Gamestop). I only play Shooters (COD4, Halo 3, Gears, GTA4, MGS4) and LBP is all it is cracked up to be. I cant play online or anything but the few 1 player levels are great. Beautiful and different than anything that has been made previously. In all honesty, I probably wont play it much after a week or so, or until people make crazy stuff. Good game, worth the 60 bones I spent on it. It's nice to have something that you can chill, play, and not worry about losing. And yes some of you will be happy to hear his Gamespot is not shipping all the LBP they recieved the first shipment.

What a complete joke. I guess Sony had no choice really, otherwise there would be riots in the streets and people getting killed/heads getting chopped off. Aren't there bigger things to get worked up about? How did they even find out about the song? Was it in the beta or something?
 
Ya totally failed at getting LBP today (Sunday). Went everywhere; gamestop manager said he doubts I can get it on Tuesday anywhere, because I said, "Bad idea not selling it till the 28th, Gamestop will lose a lot of sales...." cause Best Buy and GS are the only ones honoring it.

I'll be picking it up at Circuit City tuesday.

I just saw a commercial on Adult Swim for it. HOLY COW! They made a level SPECIFICALLY FOR THE COMMERCIAL! Why can't we, the consumer play these jaw dropping promotional levels?

I used to work there and it was a pile of crap, when I was hired (I didn't do much before getting the job there, worked at Best Buy and EB ect.) I was basically head of the games section, in charge of redoing it and got in charge of warehouse. I quit in 2 weeks, cause they were making me work 56 hours a week and overnighters and I didn't get my first paycheck for like 4 weeks and eventually threatened to sue and they sent me a check in the mail, but than I got the my check from them, and another check so I got like 4 checks for working 3-4 weeks = 1,300 bucks.

Nice chunk of change, yet the worst job I have ever had... ugh it annoyed me to that they were always so rude, I worked two nights in a row and the second night I wanted to leave a little early (5am) cause I was done with my work and my manager said to me, "...you do? Look at jim here, he has around 60 hours this week and hes working all day today to, I hope one day you'll be as useful..." ugh, I just said, "ok bye". They wanted me to come in that day at like 11am to... fuck! I just wanted a shitty sub-job to help pay for my PS3! God... (guaranteed all the crap they made me do was illegal, lol)

The bigger/nicer CC's will probably release it 28th.

This is not fair, how come japan gets it now but we don't? Of course there's not much of a point in having it if the server is down. The whole reason i'm buying LBP is because i want to play it online and make levels with my online friends. Not to mention i want to post my dangling hairy sack(boy) level.:drool:

I'm hoping Blockbuster throws it out for rent tomorrow morning because i'd really like to play it and it'll be free thanks to my game pass. I'm gonna wait for a deal/GS coupon for a used copy because of all the huge releases coming in the next few weeks.

Any publicity is good publicity.

They're doing a great job of promoting in the UK apparantly, with Ricky Gervais and Jonathan Ross playing the game together on his interview show.

Making levels with online friends is not even in the game at launch
 
I cancelled my preorder at Amazon. I'll be getting the game for sure at some point. Fallout 3 and Fable II will eat all the time I have for the next few weeks.

I'm currently working on Victorian Steampunk themed level, complete with steerable dirigible airship, movable and firing cannons that have a reload time, and a bomb bay.

$62 shipped. Just before the recall news hit retailers and prices skyrocketed.
 
Just got an email from Best Buy saying the pre-order was pushed back to 12/30/2008. This HAS to be a mistake...thanks, BB for your top-notch QC process!
 
Eh, was just at BBV today and I saw them "preparing" LBP for rental tommorow. The package had a nice "Do not sell or Rent before 10/21" on it, so it was definetly it. And confirmed when the clerk told his manager he'd get the rest of the copies of LBP ready >_> Of course, YMMV I suppose, but doesnt hurt to check.

I found 6 copies today at target and they would not sell them to me. I will be back there tomorrow morning to grab one.

Edit: I should clarify. I tried to buy a copy but their system flagged it as not being out till tomorrow. So I shall be there in the morning!
 
I just want to say thanks to all the people who are posting where they have seen or gotten a copy. God knows I will try! Hopefully I will spot one and be able to contribute. I am going to try at Toys R Us, Blockbuster, Target, Walmart, and Kmart.

Here is hoping for some good news!

Edit - Already got turned down at Walmart. Old man went and asked for this kid because he did not speak english well. Kid comes out and I ask if they have Little Big Planet and he immediately informs me about the recall.
