Looking for 1TB external harddrive

From the description, they're selling two hard drives....a 1TB 3.5" external and a 500GB 2.5" external. At least, I'd assume that's what they're doing.

Any new deals around???

also that 1tb from target seems its internal doesnt it? 1tb "desktop hard drive" and the 500gb says "external"

hmm

Now, I could be mistaken, but External means it can run off usb power, while Desktop requires an ac adapter (or something similar) to power it, making it a lot less portable. Besides, I don't think target sells internal HD's....or at least I've never seen 'em.

Hmmm I'm also looking for an external HDD 1TB, looking to spend $80 and under, hopefully Newegg or Tigerdirect gets some deals, maybe I can catch target but i'll be working that day.

The wording in the add is a little misleading. It says that the 500GB drive is portable, which means that you'll need two USB ports, one for data and one for power. For the 1TB, it says "desktop" which sounds to me like an internal, 3.5" drive, but it could also be an external drive that requires an AC adaptor.

If I had to guess, I'd say these are going to be the two HD's on sale. Also of note: the 500gb one doesn't need two usb drives, but rather just derives power from the one it's attached to, essentially making it a giant flash drive (albeit a tad slower).

Don't buy an off brand and say away from MyBooks. I've had several of those die on me...bad reviews on Amazon as well. Western Digital used to be known for quality. These days, I like the Seagate external drives.

Personally im going for this Fantom 2TB from newegg

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822204094

$160
-$20 MIR = $140
-$16 Bing cashback = $124

s/h is kind of disheartening at 9.70, but still, $134ish if you can wait for the rebates
(Edit: I just put my order through and shipping now is telling me 1.99 for 3-day...sweet!)

OR -$10 additional for new cashback users if you sign up today only (http://www.discoverbing.com/cashbackpaypalpromo/)

I wouldn't recommend creating new cashback accounts as you might get EVERYTHING canceled. If you havent used cashback before though you can get it for $124 shipped.

i've been in the market for a 1tb+ drive (External/internal - external preferred) i'm patient enough to wait for a deal to come around but I have been limiting my movie downloads as of late.

also the fantom drive is showing 9.70 for shipping, how'd you get it to show 2.00? :(
