Looking For A Cable Modem / Wireless Router Combo Deal

Once upon a time I had cable internet, and i hated it...the connection would drop constantly. Then I got DSL and it was fine for years. Recently I switched back to cable internet...and I have discovered that it wasn't that cable is unreliable, its that my model of wireless router does not like cable internet. And apparently this is not an uncommon problem in other models.

Does anyone know of some good deals on a cable modem / wireless router combo unit?

Alternately, does anyone know of a decent model wireless router that does cooperate with being hooked up to a separate cable modem?

Hmm what kind of router do you have? Did you try updating the firmware?

I suggest Belkin/Linksys

I am too in the market for a decent cable modem

I have a Netgear. I've found and read numerous numerous forum threads about this particular model and related models, going back for years, and it seems there is no clear fix.

Find a wireless router that supports a 3rd party firmware like dd-wrt or tomato. I use a Buffalo Tech, Whr-54g or something like that, with tomato. Easy to use and really customizeable.

WRT54G or WRT54GS both work amazing on my cable modem.
