My 2 year old laptop is dying on me and I'm thinking that if it ends up being too much to repair, I may just buy a new one. I'm considering even just getting a netbook as pretty much all I ever use my comp for is the internet and word processing. I'm considering this:

But also curious what the downside of spending the same amount of money on a laptop is, as they have a CD drive (which I'd miss otherwise on a netbook). Dell has a $300 laptop here: http://www.dell.com/us/en/home/note...545&s=dhs&cs=19&~oid=us~en~29~ubuntu_anav_1~~
With any luck, I'll be able to fix my laptop for under $100, but if not, what cheapass machines would people recommend instead?
