I use this tv for gaming and its really good. A lot better then some tv's that cost a few hundred bucks more. It's not as good as any top or close to top of the line tv's from samsung/lg but great for the price. I bought it because a cheap 32" tv I bought had terrible input lag. This tv does not have any noticeable input lag.
Personally, I would first seek a Sony, Samsung or Panasonic. The next best are Sharp, LG, Toshiba and Vizio in which you can get a bigger size for the same amount of money compared to the previous three. There's some good choices among all of the aforementioned brands within $350 - $450 available at Amazon, Best Buy, etc. and you can price match. If you're willing to wait, the 2015 models are starting to rollout and there will definitely be some good clearance deals on the 2014 models at Best Buy.
I currently have a samsung 22'' UNH5000 series TV which i use for my console and also as a monitor for my laptop, was planning for a larger one after seeing some in my friend's house where they use them to play console games.
