After 30 years spent drilling through a four-kilometer-thick ice crust, researchers have finally broken through to a unique subglacial lake. Scientists are set to reveal its 20-million-year-old secrets, and imitate a quest to discover ET life.

They won't be able to take a sample until late 2012. Ancient lake near Australia? Isn't this how they woke up Cthulhu?
 
Something about Russians disturbing a pristine water source doesn't fill me with confidence, especially when you consider their disregard for other areas like lake Baikal.
 
Well... at least we know EXACTLY who to blame when we're all enslaved or eradicated by a hostile alien race. Good money here is on a Locust invasion.
 
heres to hoping they release some evil super smart dinos from the past......or maybe aliens whod be forced to the bottom of the lake for their misdeeds.
