just get them for free by signing up somewhere when you can, then call OXM tell them you bought a subscription to them from a third party want to add the demo disc to your subscription. They will add the demo discs to your subscription for $1 a issue.

Yes, I ordered OXM for $2.99 and Game Informer for $4.99 from shoppervalues.com about a year ago and it has worked out great. If you don't get Game Informer now, I highly recommend you get it at that price.
I'm having a problem ordering a new magazine from them, though. The site keeps telling me to set my browser to accept cookies so I can order the magazine. How do I do that? Thanks for any help. Please PM if you don't want to "contaminate" this forum with off topic content.

If you're using IE, go to Tools, Internet Options. Under the Privacy tab, set your slider to Medium. If that doesn't work, keep on going lower until it does.

We moved about 2.5 years ago to an entirely new area 3+ hours away from where we had previously lived.

I signed up at a local 3 store chain video store. They misheard me and for a while my name at the store was John (its actually Josh). I never really cared but shortly after I signed up with them Adam & Eve cards started coming to "John _____" Now I never had my name as John come on anything before that and I know for a fact that the video store was the only one who had my wrong name.

You would be surprised as to who sells your name. If I were ever to experiment and give out phony names to see what junk mail came. It woul dbe very interesting to track that stuff.

Like those kids who signed up for free ice cream back in the 70s with fake names. One of the fake names ended up getting drafted to the marines.
 
How about magazineisland.com? Are they legit? Their website kinda lokks rinky-dink & I'm not sure about doing business with them. Anyone use these guys yet?
 
I've used it before and they're very reliable, but they don't have the best deals. Maxim for $15 a year? 4 mag subscriptions for $30? Try shoppervalues.com first.
 
I got my OPM too, first and second issue, but with the first it said that I only had 4 issues left, anyone else get that card? I'm not gonna resubscribe, I don't care that much, I'm getting so many mags right now I don't have all the time to read them. But I think it's lame that I signed up for the Xbox mag and they never sent me one and now they're trying to cut me off after 5 magazines? What kind of periodical has a 5 month subscription? Lame.

I got one of those Adam & Eve cards recently too. Shortly before that I got some catalog for a mail order adult video company (I can't remember the name at the moment). There was a number to call if you wanted your name off the list so I called it and got my name removed. I still have to mail back the Adam & Eve card though - I checked the box saying I wished to recieve nothing further from them.

Small price to pay for free mags I guess.

Btw, I have subscriptions to Maxim, Stuff, Details, Forbes, EGM, OPM, Playboy, and FHM.
 
Well i recieved PC mag, sync, computer shopper and SI so far, very cool.

But one thing...i have gotten some invoices(bills) for te mags...whats the deal do i just not send them in?

Has anyone seen any free magazine subscriptions to Video/Audio Magazines ( I prefer "Sound and Vision")

Also, I'm still on the lookout for free newspaper subscriptions. Detroit Free press, USA today, etc.
 
CE Lifestyles is in the old thread, it's not as good most likely as Sound & Vision, but it does have new products and some decent articles and it's a quality thick glossy cover.

Does anyone know if they start to send you a bill after the free subscription time is up? You know how some magazines start automatically send you a bill after the free trial if you do not cancel.
 
We had that happened once before. It was for Fitness magazine that my wife got a free sub for a few months. After that was over, they wanted us to pay for some additional issues that came after the trial even though we did not 'renew."

They were very adamant about us paying for them so that was a hassle.

I have done a bunch of these free magazines and haven't had to pay for anything. The only thing is before the year is up you get the standard renewal offers in the mail, but that is standard with any subscription.

Never sign up for anything that asks for a credit card, and use a yahoo or hotmail email address that you don't care about so your primary email address doesn't get spammed.

That is definitely true. The one I use to sign up for them usually gets about triple the amount of emails than what my regular email account. So spam ahoy when signing up for those.
 
Has anyone's Ziff Davis mags suddenly stopped coming? A few months ago my EGM and CGW stopped coming, and I was subscribed well into 2007.
 
Actually my EGM stopped coming. They said it had turned into a digital description. I called customer service and had them change it over...I'll see if this worked with my next issue...
 
I've noticed that my EGM has also stopped coming about a month or two ago. I guess I should give them a call.

Anyone have any more info on why this seems to be happening to a lot of people?
