hey, i need to get rid of my maxim and blender subscriptions...let me know if anyone wants them, or has a link to cancel subscriptions. Thanks!
 
Did anyone following this thread get a followup on their cancelled GMR subscription? (EB Games ill-fated magazine)

I had just done a one-year sub ($14.95) by trading in a non-POX game (I did Legaia 2) . . . only got one or two of those issues before they pulled the plug.

Anyway after months of waiting, I finally got a postcard from them (6 weeks ago) saying the sub was converting to Sync mag . . . blah, and I already have 2 years free on it.

So I sent a letter to the address on the postcard requesting a refund and yesterday a check for $16.64.

Pretty good deal actually . . . I got a few issues of the mag and $16.64 in cash for a $5 CC game.
 
I had only 4-5 issues left of GMR so don't mind so much having it switched to SYNC (although it's really just pure garbage) but my XBN subscription ran 'til May '08 and not a peep from Ziff-Davis about it.

Can't even contact them except through automated email's that never get a response. The old 800 # for XBN just gets a busy signal 24/7 as well.

Any other former XBN subscribers hear anything yet?

I called them a few months ago about it. The sub either moved to Sync or one of the other mags(if you have a sub to OPM, CGW or EGM) in April. But I called back at the end of April saying that I wasn't happy with Sync and to move the remaining issues to my OPM subscription, which they did.

So if you don't want Sync, call up one of the other mag's customer service number(which they're all using the same company) and ask to move your subscription to another mag(if you have one).

They moved the remaining issues to my EGM subscription, although I wish they would've moved them to my OPM.

I just signed up for a ton of these free subscriptions because I like getting mail. It makes me feel important. ;)

They don't ever charge you, do they? I think the bill would be a little pricey for OPM, EGM, CGM, Giant, Muscle Car, Sporting News, Blender, FHM, Tips and Tricks, HGM, etc...
 
With these deals, no.
Even with 'Try 2 Issues Free!" what they usually do is send you the two issues, then send an invoice. Write "Cancel" on it and send it back, and you're good. Done it lots of times. Just try to avoid giving a credit card number upfront.

They will of course send you a [paid] renewal request toward the end of your sub. Just toss 'em.

That's a good question. I just resubscribed to PC Gamer, and I had the choice of paying the renewal rate of $30 and get one or two bonuses, or pay $20 for the new subscriber rate and get more bonus stuff. :roll:
 
Yay, I got my august issue of EGM.

even though I missed the July one.. o well, I'm getting the mags for free.
 
I went into GS the other day and I saw Hardcore Gamer in there. I was shocked that anyone would actually carry it being this new. I took a look at it and it's like the Sporting Game News, very similar in layout to the SN.
