Same. I read carefully and you have to confirm it when they email you. The thing is, they don't email me. They only email me for The Insider which I cancelled now.

Not sure if this is the right place for this but here we go!!! Cleaning up I found a stash of Ultra GamePlayers Magazine spanning most of 1997 and 2 issues into 1998. I wonder if there is a market for this kind of stuff (ebay etc.) I kind of had fun re-reading some of the old articles and stuff (pictures) but I have a ton of more up to date magz and I need to get rid of some of the older stuff. You guys think I can get a dollar or two for all of them or should I be "strong" and recycle them. (I just hate to throw away stuff) Please advise !!!

i clicked on many mags from this site and have gotten over 20 bills and 4 letters for a collection place saying that the link you click on was a comission based link where the person gets paid for every link that is sent in. That you are agreeeing to pay for the mag after so many months. They said its on the webpage but must been on the page before the link they book marked. when i told them im not paying 3 dropped it but one has sent me a letter saying if i dont pay by Aug 31 2005 i will be sued (LOL SUED FOR 9.95)

No I have never gotten a bill. After my free sub was over they always send out a renewal form asking me to renew. Are you completely positive it's a bill. I know some people try to make the renewal form look like a bill i.e. psm stuff etc.

Well, hopefully these new links (under the VU games registration) will be sent print. I had them sent under a different name to test it. Electronic magazines are an idiotic concept anyway. Why would I want to download a 20+ MB file for use with their stupid software when I can go to Gamespot etc. I get magazines so I can read them on the can!

I'd say the best you can do is get a OXM sub for $5/year and add the discs by calling the number in the mag (for another $12/year).

I don't think OXM as been a free mag (at least not for a long while) and even if you got it free, it wouldn't have the discs.

AFAIK, there a no free print versions right now. There are digital versions however.

and switch it to print. You may have to email one of those sites if it doesn't appear after about a month. It hasn't worked for me yet but I hear some people have gotten it to work.

Im new to this free magazine thing and I want to get an OPM. Do I just fill out that registration even if I don't have the game, and if so is it illegal?

It could be argued that it's unethical, since technically Vivendi or whomever is 'buying' the sub on the behalf of people who bought their games, as a thank you.
In the fine print of all these offers you'll see "we reserve the right to limit quantities", "while supplies last", or "subscription approval not guaranteed" or something to that effect, which means even if you fill the form out, they can decline/refuse to send you the sub.
On these, and the Freebizmag ones, the way I look at it, I'm helping the magazine, by upping their subscription numbers, thus allowing them to charge more for ad space. Of course, the people who are buying me the magazine, I'm not really helping them at all.
So, illegal--no. Unethical, perhaps.
