Blech, I just shot Amazon an email about it and got this response:

"Hello,

I'm sorry, but I am unable to apply this promotional offer toward the purchase of other products from Amazon.com.

I checked our records and verified that this promotional certificate can only be applied towards the purchase of Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds; and not for Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds: Special Edition."

If someone else has some luck with getting it to work I might try sending them one more email to see if I get lucky, I have in the past. Seems to depend on which customer service person you get to help you at times.
 
Just got my confirmation. They switched my order and reapplied the 50% off but it seems that the person helping me out isn't good at math.

Got charged $40.99 instead of $34.99 ($35 if rounded). Sent another email for the additional discount.

I went through their contact us page and selected my order, chose "change order" and "other", then I chose the email option and I said something along the lines of this:

Hi,

I would like to change my order to Special Edition that was just added on your site:

http://---link here--------

Also, I had a 50% off promo applied to this order due to the Dead Rising 2 Avatar issue that you guys had a while back, and I would like to know if the 50% discount would apply to the Special Edition too?

K, I decided to send them one more email. Hoping I get lucky this time if not I will probably just get the SE for myself with some Amazon credit I have and give my discounted version away as a cheap birthday gift for someone.
 
If they really wont let us use the codes on the special edition, they're losing my money, and I probably won't even buy the game until it's $20...
 
I tried to purchase the SE, but the code could not be applied. Sent an email, so here's hoping. If it doesn't, I'll order the regular version and try to upgrade like LP did.
 
Sent off an e-mail, was sure to mention I knew someone (linkin!) who had the code applied via upgrade just in case that helps. Seriously, Amazon, I am trying to give you more money!

It seems like they think you were asking about the $10 game credit for pre-ordering the regular version of the game, not transferring your 50% discount to the SE. Might want to double check about that.

I understand the topic is for the 360 version, but has anyone successfully been able to have the discount transferred to the PS3 version with the discount? (in the attempt of having the discount applied to the special edition?) The thought of the 360 thumbpad and MvC3 is giving me a headache just thinking about it.

That is why you should get an arcade stick for the 360, or a Hori Fighting Pad EX 2. Walmart has Street Fighter IV with Madcatz SE stick for $30 right now. Check it out:

They told me using it on the PS3 version was not possible.
 
I sent an e-mail to Amazon and they changed my order to the Special Edition and said they will be applying the 50% off soon.
I'll update if it goes successfully. Also I had already ordered the Standard Edition with the 50% code applied.
 
So if I had ordered 3 copies of the normal edition with the coupon on a single order, I wonder if they'd change them into Special Editions too.
 
Hey guys if you use live chat you can probably get them to apply the promo to your special edition order. I was about to but I was denied because the promo code didn't come from my account

I would say give it a try again. Honestly I have had to contact Amazon two or three times sometimes to get a CS person who is nice enough to accommodate me. Just be polite and explain your situation. That was how I eventually got them to transfer the credit from the 360 version of the game to PS3, they said no the first time but I replied back and explained why I wanted it on PS3 and had no use for the game on 360 and they changed it for me. Now I am just hoping they can shift it to the SE so I can leave them alone :lol:

i spoke with someone over the phone she told me that If i try to checkout out with the collectors edition it should work. But when I tryed it did not work ill call back shortly to see whats up.

I couldn't use the 50% off promo code without also using my $20 credit from Black Ops. So I got the normal version for $9.99 then just sent an email asking for a switch to the special version. Should be $14.99; a steal.

I'll probably wait till closer to the release date, but if you can order multiples I'd be willing to help any CAGs that wanted the SE.
 
Yes!! I just got them to switch my discount over to Marvel vs Capcom 3 Special Edition for PS3 after they responded to my second email. They only transfered the $30 off instead of a full 50% off but considering all the exceptions they made for me and the fact it's only $39.99 for the special edition now, I am not complaining about the $5 extra. Amazon rocks!
 
Can someone who emailed and got them to switch their order to the Special Edition please post what you said to them?
