Mass Effect 3 Discussion Thread

Hehe, sorry to bring that up. I don't wanna rain on anyone else's parade. Enjoy and all that. At this point I'm just more interested in the MP DLC.

Hahahaha, no worries. I just like to see how long it takes for the endings to inevitably come up. I'm not even in the business of defending or hating on them anymore.

I'm with you on the MP DLC. I haven't been on for quite some time, but I like to swing back in every now and then to try out the new stuff. Did the Turian Havoc/Ghost ever get nerfed? Those guys were world-destroyers.
Again if you're in the business of content/price then you're not gonna have a good time.
I fail to see how expecting a reasonable amount of content for a steep price, forbids me from having a good time.

Also, NO ONE knows if they're going to have a good time at this point. No one even knows if this last DLC is good. It could be a steaming pile of crap.

Just because I'm hoping it will be good, doesn't mean it will be.

I am very excited about this and I don't see any reason to doubt that it will be a lot of fun. Personally, with the exception of Firewalker, I have enjoyed every bit of dlc for this franchise. Even though the quality varies, each piece has some unique experiences to add to the ME-verse.

And chilling with Wrex and my crew in a casino? Totally worth $15.

Yeah that's about right. I didn't like Firewalker and I haven't bought pinnacle station, Omega, or played through Leviathan (which I did get on BF) but every other DLC has been very enjoyable.

Small nerf to stim packs but still op classes.

I'm more than talking about this DLC, I'm talking about gamers all over the internet that complain they don't get enough hours played for the money they put in. Seriously it's all about the experience now and people want endless hours of play for their money.

Seriously it's all about the experience now and people want endless hours of play for their money.
Since I've gotten 110+ hours out of each ME game I've purchased as well as the DLC (save Omega for ME3, purchased everything else), I would say I've certainly gotten more than my money's worth out of each ME game I've purchased on two SP playthroughs per game.

I've had enough regulars in this thread, whose opinions I certainly listen to, mention that it would be better to wait for Omega to go on-sale before purchasing it for full price. Doesn't affect me in any way complain about ME3 being a lesser value than the money I put into it.

I don't know....Omega wasn't the best ME dlc, but it was far from a bad experience. Its a two or three nights of gameplay, the new character introduced is bittersweet. She was the best new character since Motrin, IMO, but they could have done so much more with her. I think its worth the $15 from the ME faithful like most of us 'round here. It was worth it just for Aria's mid combat cussing alone! I'm glad I didn't wait to pick it up.

This. I have nearly 400 hours into ME3 alone. I've more than got my moneys worth. Ill pay the $15 and buy a couple packs in MP cuz I appreciate the work Bioware has put into their games. You can tell the passion the team has for this dlc. I'm confident this will be something special. Plus, keep in mind that they haven't shown all of their cards. There are elements of the citadel dlc that they haven't talked about yet.

I'm in the "Omega isn't worth full price" camp. To me it's like another Arrival-- it's not terrible or anything, but it's just a shooting-gallery sidequest that fails to distinguish itself in the areas of storytelling or character interaction. It may as well be any other random ME3 sidequest, which isn't a bad thing but is a tough sell for $15 IMO.

That said, I am in full-on hype train mode for Citadel.

I totally agree, I've gotten way way many hours out of my ME gaming runs. Never had I played multiple times for a set of games but then again I've never played a series that's interconnected that your decisions from one is felt in the next.

Mark me down on the other side of the debate table for Arrival. I don't know I liked how vastly different it was and found it heart pounding, you're so vulnerable in this one, in the end. Being just you I also felt a more personal story, esp the nemesis that's been going for just me, Shepard.

Speaking of Arrival, it had the hardest achievement for me to get, where you have to survive the 5 or 6 waves of Cerberus-like enemies. Had to watch the cut-scene of Arrival's big reveal / twist so many times.

Yeah when I learned there was one spot in that part you could cover in and overall be ok I was like ohhhhhhhh, was able to get it a lot easier then.

Shrike, buddy, well said. That was a bear of a sequence in an otherwise tame mission. Felt good after that achievement popped.

I think spamming Singularity with my Adept made parts of that easier to deal with, though often random spawning enemies tended to make things a bit cheap. Spamming Charge with my Vanguard seemed to be easier to deal with it as a whole.

If you are looking to save up credits for the DLC Tuesday I would suggest checking this out.

Speedrun Tutorial

A few buddies of mine teamed up with the guy making the video to give tutorials. They are also teaching on BSN, just look for the Team AreleX speedrun tutorial thread if interested.

It just unlocks a pack in MP. Nothing exciting, just some gear. I don't think you get any weapons or characters even. Hope you enjoy the movie! I liked it better than the DA movie from last year.

I don't know why my post never went up but I basically said wow that's a beast of a speed run. If only I knew spawning was related to where you look!

Anyone else just watch that livestream of the new Reckoning DLC? Hoo boy. Wish I had saved up my credits like theredworm did.

Edit: had to come back and put in what I caught. I missed the beginning. I caught the Krogan with the hammer (works on a charge base for power, but his heavy melee is still the animation), an equip pack to add the Batarian melee to classes (yes, they used a volus as an example), the Alliance Infiltration Unit (EDI basically), Geth Juggernaut (missed most of that, did see some nice shield and drone powers), what I think was a batarian (right when I came in, it was the "archer class", much like the ballistic blades, but like a crossbow), and they danced around what the adept would be the entire stream. Right at the very very end, they snuck over to it.....looks like a Collector.

Forgot to mention the Turian female too. Had a charge-through attack like a Vanguard, but she phases through and damages enemies. Also a poison blade attack.

Anyone think this should be spoiler tagged?

Wanna see the Adept? Edit 2:

Ah, missed it. Loving the screenshots of the new characters though. Might have to blow the dust off.

I'm pretty impressed by this last bit of MP DLC. So many great things. From the Geth Juggernaut with those crazy shields and health, to the Batarian melee gear (volus w/ melee what???), to the omni crossbow, new challenges and banners, etc. The new adept has me scratching my head, though. I'm not too hung up on what would work in canon and what would not, but that just strikes me as odd. Why not a straight-up Prothean? That's like having a husk be like "hey dudes, don't shoot, I've had a change of heart. I'm not a good aim with an assault rifle, but I can lob some grenades or something." It's just odd. I wonder if it has something to do with the Citadel DLC?

Also, it's a crying shame we never got our throwback ME1 maps. Ilos and Virmire would've been badass. Same for no Omega MP maps. Those were screaming for multiplayer. Oh well. I'm perfectly content with what we're getting.

Hey, I'd love a husk kit where my heavy melee was some frantic arm flailing followed by leaping into a trooper's arms...

Wow...that sounds....weird...
I'm guessing the new Awakened Collector is a Leviathan thrall.
Ooh now that's good. I'm a sucker for the leviathan alpha race and what it/they could mean for the future of the franchise.

Has anyone posted a list of all the new weapons included in the DLC? I saw the kits a couple pages back. I have about 2.5 mil saved up and I don't know whether to buy reserves packs or arsenal packs. I have dreadful luck with unlocks so probably won't be getting them all with my credits (still don't have the N7 Fury!)

I invited Wombat to the thread b/c apparently he didn't know there were so many CAG's that played the ME 3 MP regularly.

I guess it may be time for me to get back on the horse also.

- This game has one of the best Horde modes (maybe *the* best so far).

- All of the DLC for multiplayer has been free. Each includes new characters, which keeps things fresh (vs. Gears where each match feels the same).

- Matches only last 15-30 minutes; great for casual friends who don't have as much gaming time. You can also marathon several in a row if you want to earn some serious XP or in-game credits.

- The base game is only $14 right now on newegg. Because all the MP DLC has been free, it's been easy to get friends on parity and in the game with everything, cheaply.

This has been a great experiment and I've had a ton of fun with it. I'm kinda sad it's probably lightning in a bottle and that the next attempt will monetize it too much, or screw up something else...
