Save yourself and your dad some money. The game is essentially the same as 09. So, in short, you should definitely be able to find a good deal for 09 on your own.
 
I would get it for him on the PS3 if you had one. The rosters on this are very outdated now, and were then when the season began. No roster updates, no online whatsoever.
