Modern Warfare 3 Sold on Ebay for $1725!

CAGiversary!
So apparently Kmart released this game early, and this dude buys up a bunch of copies to resell on Ebay. The game sold for $1725. At best, the buyer MIGHT be able to play the game a day early.

Why are people such freaking idiots? $1725 for one day ahead of everyone else? That's is pure insanity. The servers would be dead anyways. Even more crazy, the seller has another copy on Ebay going for over $170 bucks, and he is trying to sell a 3rd copy for $250.

wut.

Why would....

I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

So sad. Odds are if you've got that much cheddar to blow on a video game there's a solid chance you probably won't have the necessary spare time to play it. Or actually survive long enough to open the case assuming you're in a serious relationship or married to begin with.

Unless you're a filthy rich... then you can get away with just about anything.

In that case... nevermind. Seller is getting trolled hard at the moment.

The seller is not going to get paid. Newly registered user. He will have to file a non paying bidder claim after a week and still be out his listing fees. Plus the game will be available on Tuesday and the demand will dry up. If he wanted to really sell this he should have listed it with a buy it now and required iimmediate payment. Say something like 119.99 or maybe push with 139.99. He would have got paid enough to pay off the game and a 2 nd copy.

How do we know the seller actually got paid for the item?

Even if the buyer pays they can file a dispute for any reason if they regret the purchase, since ebay always rules in favor of the buyer, they get the game earlier than everyone else and they can possibly get a refund on the purchase price.

No, people just made new accounts to bid it up and not pay, this way the seller won't be able to sell before street date, wasting his money.

Yep. He's getting trolled. Right now, he's looking at something like 13.25% of $1,725 in ebay seller fees, or $229.

I'm actually happy this guy is getting trolled so hard. Buying up the entire stock of games and trying to resell them for outrageous prices a week before they hit shelves makes him a douche.
