Hi guys, I am looking for a good gaming laptop that's under $400 and available in retail (like best buy).

You're really looking at a $350 + tax laptop to keep your $400 budget. I really doubt you'll be able to find a good gaming laptop for that price.

That one is even on the low-scale because the 310 came out a while ago, and that's priced at $750.

I spent $1k on my gaming laptop, and it was a mid/high-range gaming laptop at the time.

Yeah, you're not getting anything that will compete on newer games for that pricerange. I just spent $1616.00 on my ASUS G74SX-A1, and it's still not top of the line. I mean, I can run just about anything at the highest settings with good framerate and will continue to do so for a couple years, but you're not looking at anything with performance. Your budget is more suited for a netbook/web-browsing computer.

I paid $950 or so for an Asus a month or two ago and it's been fantastic.

If you're looking for a good gaming laptop anywhere near the $400 range, your search is over before it begins.
