You have to buy this special Monster branded optical adapter to get it to optical. It's really stupid.

I've no idea, I haven't used mine yet, as my current VGA monitor is old and the cable is 1 ended, the end of which is male, and while male on male may be cool in california, it doesn't fly in PA. I'll be picking up my new monitor this weekend, would have it now, but mother nature has delivered a square kick to the balls. I bought them because they are cheaper than the MS brand ones.

As for the in store only thing, I'll update the topic to say that.

I can't even find a place that sells the adapter seperately? The adapter is included if you buy their Xbox 360 Optical Cable though ... -_-
