I just bought a new PC and I'm curious how I go about moving my iTunes library to store all the metadata. I believe under the USERS account there is a LIBRARY file that is pretty big. Although, all my music is stored on my M: drive.

What I was thinking is installing a fresh copy of iTunes on the new PC, launch it once and then copy the existing library file to the new PC. Would that work?

As far as I know, that should work. However, the files in your library need to be in the exact same location, otherwise it'll be a huge mess to link the files to iTunes. You'll have a ton of not found items.

Thanks, I plan on putting my music on an External USB 3.0 drive this time. I'll just be sure to make it the same drive letter as now.
