My PS3 controller keeps freezing up

My PS3 controller freezes up sometimes when I exit the store and when I cancel out of a message. When I exit out of basically anything my PS3 controllers buttons stop working and to fix it I have to turn off the controller. I doubt its my controllers fault because this happens to all of the controllers i've have. If anyone knows what is wrong with my PS3 please tell me.

Btw its an 80Gb fat (backwards compatible).
