Need help getting Command and Conquer to run

I have the origianl DOS version and I can't get it to work. Everytime I run the setup or install file it just turns my screen black for a second and then goes back to where it was.

Any help would be great.
 
You're better off trying to find the C&C95 version that ran on windows 95, or better yet getting C&C the first decade for windows versions of every C&C to date. The original DOS version wont run unless, well.. you boot into DOS (IE: no windows whatsoever), which most people don't have access to easily nowadays with Windows XP.
 
Yeah, I was planning on getting C&C Decade but I am low on money it will be quite a while till I can get it. That is why I was hoping that I could get C&C to work, so I can play that until I can buy the decade.
