Or any of your recommendation. Max I want to spend is like $600

I play video games once in a while on the pc, but nothing crazy like I do on the consoles, or even relatively new games for that matter. I think my newest game is Company of Hero's, but yet again, if I had a better laptop I could play new games (or at least I think). Basically, we had a little earthquake last night, laptop was resting on the corner of my night stand, and then smashed onto the ground. Barely functions haha. I like the idea of being able to go down to bestbuy tomorrow to buy one, but who knows, thats why im asking you guys!! Thanks.

stay awayyyy from dell, just a hint. I'm all asus because they are reliable, at least to me, most of my computer parts are from them and they make the best netbooks and laptops, again, my opinion

That's what she said.

On topic, I'd wait, and watch woot.com. They have a nice deal on a 17" HP laptop that has kick-ass specs, and a built-in Blu-Ray player. It's around $600 when it goes up. I know that when I get my laptop, I'm going to go for that. It's refurbished, but I've never had a real problem with stuff like that.

Ive been recommended that I should look into the second one thats posted there by some other people on different forums. Any idea why? Could it handle games like L4D2, FO3, and Company of Heroes

It's currently up in the woot-off. www.woot.com

Both of the ones from Best Buy will be crap for gaming. You'll need a discrete graphics card for gaming, and both of those have integrated graphics. The second one is slightly better than the 1st but still terrible for gaming.

Official Asus laptops when bought through a direct reseller (i.e. NOT Best Buy, because they sell 'Built By Asus') such as amazon.com or xoticpc.com (where I got mine, great folks, laptop's had no problems for 3.5 years running!) come with a 2 year standard manufacturer's warranty, the first year of which covers accidental damage, so long as you register it within 60 days of purchase. Most models are great for gaming, and rock solid, I can't say enough nice things about them. Here's how they rank-

However, Asus laptops do tend be above your 600 mark, so I also suggest Lenovo. Again, very good build quality, good service, the advantage with Lenovo is their great pricing on service plans direct on lenovo.com- on most of their laptops in your price range, $119 will get you IN HOME accidental damage warranty, and $189 will get you 3 years in home accidental damage warranty. Meaning they will come to you to fix it. That is hard to beat, and everyone who I know who has owned lenovo loves theirs. Here's their rank, same site- http://www.laptopmag.com/mobile-life/lenovo-brand-rating.aspx

While Lenovo is more geared towards business (no cool designs in your mentioned range, all very spartan looking models), the models with dedicated graphics solutions, specifically the Nvidia mobile 210 GT and ATI Radeon 4200 HD mobile cards, should be able to handle gaming, and I believe all the titles you listed, though not at max settings. I would recommend finding minimum and recommended specs for those games, and checking it against those cards. Hope this helps.
