Need some quick advice--purchasing Neo Geo Cabinet

Hey everyone--I'm going to look at that Neo Geo cabinet someone posted about earlier in the week in the regional deals thread and was wondering what advice people could give me as to what things I should be looking for to see if it is worth the purchase. Anything, no matter how obvious it seems would be greatly appreciated. Also, I'm going to taking this back (it's only a 10 minute drive) in my mom's minivan with the back seats out. There's plenty of room, but any advice on how to position it, secure it, and protect it would be helpful as well. Thanks!
 
I've heard that it's not a good idea to store or move the unit laying down, unless you open up the console and secure all the parts before hand. Good luck with the unit, though.
 
Is it a geniune Neo-Geo cab or one that has just the board?

If you're getting one of the bottom 2 for under $500, you're getting a fucking deal. I got a converted cab off of ebay 3 years ago for $103 dollars. :D Sold the neo-geo board (For $200 no less) and games and converted it to a mame cabinet.

It's a converted cabinet, I'm almost positive. Not sure if I'll end up converting it or not. Anyone know how easy it is to take out the important stuff before moving it?
 
With converted cabs especially, make sure to check the stick and buttons. Make sure they're properly placed, and that they feel comfortable to use. When people convert other cabinets to all-purpose Neo cabs, they will often screw up the button spacing.

Check the monitor for burn-in. This is normal (especially with heavy use), but you can use it to your advantage to lower the price.
 
I think you can probably lay it down in a truck. I would just check that everything is secure. Just remember to check that it powers up and check the condition of the buttons & joystick.

I would love to find a neo geo cab, even a converted cab.

I was about to buy a 90's game earlier this week, but given the fact that the mall arcade that was selling it was an hour a way from my house and it wouldn't get close to fitting in my CRV, I said fuck it, but they were in good price ranges from 150-500 bucks :)

I would say if you get it, secure it like its a $10,000 painting!!
