First thing; I've been messing with monitors and pictures and tv's hooking up to my computer for awhile. I've built a few of my own computers(not that amazing a feat anyway) and troubleshooted tons of little hardware and software problems. But I feel like an idiot when it comes to sound!

I need a 5.1 system(cheap, 50-100$) that can both work on my tv(for any games/dvds/etc I use) AND my computer. The problem is that I don't know what the hell port/wire is used for what.

Tv ports: Rca audio out(red/white ports)
Optical audio out
PC audio in

PC ports:black surround sound connector
orange center/subwoofer connector
gray side surround sound connector
s/pdif connector(*and none of the above I've ever used before)
regular headphone & speaker 3.5mm connection

Everything on the pc is obviously audio OUT.

I listed PC audio in on the tv because I'm wondering if I can get speakers setup on my TV, input the audio from my pc, and have it play coming out of the speakers that way?(No need to switch any wires then?) In any case, I'd like to know just what to look for as connections. Obviously I want true 5.1 surround sound capabilities, not just some speakers mirroring what the front ones are playing.

An example set or some knowledge would be extremely helpful here, thanks.
