NEW CAG Club Nintendo U (I2B - WWHD; See 1st Post for New Info)

It seems the Deluxe buyers do get points for Nintendoland after all. Today, there was a Nintendoland post-play survey (worth 50 points) waiting for me. That + NSBMU + Sticker Star, and i'm officially Platinum for the 5th consecutive year :D

Well Nintendo has closed my account(s) and won't reinstate them even though I've not abused them in ages as I don't try to earn rewards anymore. I admit I had multiple accounts but the activity wasn't a lot. Let this be a warning to anyone with sub accounts / fake accounts.

I think with all the Gold Nunchuck noise I didn't see anyone mention the new WiiWare game available:

thruspace.jpg

Available until December 9th for 150 coins, and normally costs 800 wii points. I've played the demo and its a well polished action / puzzle game, though I'm sure no one will have enough coins / want to get it now...

According to Nintendo's Twitter account, the Golden Nunchuck will return after the New Year. Sweet maybe I can get 310 more coins before that happens.

How/why did that happen? Were you trying to get the nunchuk?

I had 7 accounts with plat status w/ thousands of points (maybe over/around 10k total). They closed all of them (including my oldest one - one I ordered the Kirby medal with) except one (the one with most points on it currently).

Still got a plat cards send notice on that one I have left. I've been able to get multiple gold nunchucks already and have not tried to reinstate them and I'm fine with it. I oly regret not using all of my points on the nunchucks when I had the chance the 1st time they were available and not getting plat when they had the mario hat and statue, would have wanted that.

No, I think CN got smart this time around when they were trying to figure out a way to ship this years plat prize and maybe that was why it took so long. They may needed the time to weed out the multiple same addresses. I noticed a mode on here that said one of his 2 accounts was closed also.

They always stated one way or another that the North American CN program was expensive to maintain b/c of shipping products and stuff (BS or not, that was their excuse) and they probably closed a bunch of accounts with the same addys to lessen the overhead cost for the yearly prizes.

Good.:applause:
So should everyone have gotten a Platinum gift shipping confirmation email by now? I still haven't got mine.
Ditto. But I'm in Canada so we usually get out shipping notices a bit later anyway.

On a somewhat related note, I might have to get you to send me a Wii Mini one day. Hopefully they'll bottom out on prices like the GB Micros did and I can get some. I have NO NEED for them. But I want one anyway, dammit.

I'd love to find out the hacking homebrew community finds a way to add in internet connectivity. That would be hilarious and awesome.

Sure, considering a Wii Remote + and nunchuk will run you roughly $50 anyway its a solid deal (plus its RED). The average person won't even miss the BC/Internet on it.

Just a thought, that means that there will be no further firmware updates on this thing. Unless they pop in a disc to update.

Not impossible, discs that require a certain version if Wii IOS will have it and offer to install if it it isnt already present, but it isnt likely at this point.

Just doesnt seem reasonable.

Just assuming, does anybody know if you can use the USB dongle to make the wii u mini internet accessible?

That is exactly what I am wondering too! If the wii mini has the same OS as the regular wii and a USB port then it should be able to get Internet. Of course it may be a gutted OS but I'm hoping it has the shop channel and all the other Internet apps. I guess we will find out on December 7th when some Canadian un boxes thier wii mini ;)

I read something that implied above and beyond the lack of WiFi that Internet connectivity was not supported. I can't remember where, but I was looking specifically for that info and it seemed like bad news to me.

I had already ordered one set of the nunchuk and actually wasn't doing anything with the accounts for the past year or so (other than redeeming for the plat reward on my main). I wasn't hoarding coins or anything even.

That is really concerning...
I finally got my Platinum gift shipping notice today. Still no word on my Kirby medal though.
Ugh. Nothing here and I was definitely platinum and ordered the cards...

io is basically right here - Nintendo has said they are wholesale cutting out the internet connectivity from the Wii Mini altogether. This suggests that the OS itself won't recognize any kind of connectivity, has no Wii Shop, none of the original system's apps, etc.

This makes me wonder what the homebrew crowd can do, since the Wii's OS is apparently swiss cheese to them. Assuming the Wii Mini still has USB ports - which it would HAVE to I would assume since certain games require them (EA Active) - then it's possible they can hack in an internet module. But this is EXTREMELY wishful/theoretical thinking on my part since I have absolutely zero idea about how they'd go about doing this.

Point being is that I'd love to find out a week after its out that the hacker doods rip it open and add that kind of stuff in, because I'd definitely pick one up for pure consumer whore status (though after a price drop, to ensure CAGitude).

Honestly, if the "new" OS is simply just a neutered version of the current Wii OS, I'd expect some sort of crack within weeks. If the existing groundwork is already there, more or less, I doubt any of the hack crowd would pass it up.

Out of curiosity, I looked at the order page today for the first time in months, and I noticed it says that my Gold reward calendar has shipped. There's no date or anything, so I don't know if it shipped ages ago or today, and I never received an email. Has anyone gotten either their calendar or a shipping notice for it yet?

This is my first experience with Club Nintendo so I'm just hoping nothing got messed up, heh.

My account now says "Preparing Order" for the Kirby Medal, I guess that means they'll be shipping those out soon.

Oh, and I got my platinum shipping confirmation on Monday (posters) but they still haven't arrived yet.

Got my cards the other day. They're made of strong plastic and are semi-transparent. Pretty sweet card set that I'll never use just because it's so good-looking:

Got my gold nunchuck in today, happy it came so fast. On a side note, I got Toad as my Club Nintendo Thank you card that came with the chuck, which is inferior (IMO) to the Mario, Luigi and Peach ones I've seen so far, oh well.

I ordered the posters as my reward. Still haven't shown up yet.

I figured it'd be easier to acquire the cards (and have them shipped to me) versus the posters. Hopefully they don't cost a ton on eBay/elsewhere.

Did either of you use the same names or emails with the accounts? If not, why wouldn't Nintendo think that it is possible for separate independent people in the same household to have Nintendo consoles?
That is really concerning...
Ditto! I have roommates who are also in the club. We all have our own games/consoles. I don't want my account to get cancelled because of this.

I got my cards in the mail yesterday. They're a lot thinner than I expected so I probably won't use them for play but they look awesome. Plus, my Kirby medallion order status is now listed as "Preparing". :D

Me too, the cards feel pretty good in the hands, plastic cards, who knew?

Variations on my name, different emails.

So I got my posters too, but I'm not really seeing the "special printing effects". I mean, the Luigi's Mansion one has a matte type finish with the ghosts looking glossy - so I guess that counts? But I'm failing to see anything special about the Zelda or Kid Icarus ones... Am I missing something?

Also, my Kirby Medal shipped.

Got my platinum card set. Box is all torn up, and the cards look okay. At this rate, I expect next year's platinum reward to be a set of stamps.

Got the cards, fortunately no issues on the box, but I really dont have a need for more stuff so I think I'll be putting mine on eBay. Unless any CAGers would like to make an offer.

I can't decide to sell mine or get a hardshell case for the cards so they will hold up over time. Mine also came undamaged.

I would like to make an offer, I'll send a PM.

(Rollobobo, I'm going to PM you today as well, I apologize for the slowness.)

(And uncle5555 as well. My apologies.)

Edit: YAY I responded to everyone.

As I've posted a number of times, I think this year was just TOO EASY to hit platinum and Nintendo dropped the quality because of it. You have to remember...

3DS (160) + Ambassador Pack (200) + syncing (I believe you got 40 for this) + Excitebike (10) + Pokedex (10) = 420 / 600. Since most people would buy a game with their 3DS, that year had Mario 3D Land, Zelda OoT, Starfox 64, Pokemon Rumble Blast and plenty of Wii / DS titles to buff it out. Since less people will probably hit it this year (even with the Wii U), we should see more quality than before.
