I am a huge fan of PoP, but PoP2 was really bad IMO. It just didn't feel as fleshed out as part 1. For $10, it might be worth it I guess ;)

I'm kind of with you on this one. I only really wanted Baten Kaitos and POP2. I picked up POP already and I'm gonna try to get BK to price adjust later today but, if I don't...eh, no big deal. Not as good as last years CC sale. Not even as good as last year's BB $5 sale. And I don't mean prices aren't as good...that's obvious. Quality of titles aren't as good as well.

Agreed. This kind of has to be the case though as they clearanced so much out during the last sale. I'm really only excited to pick up Project: Snowblind at this price (I already went and bought one). There's a couple others that I might pick up, but I'm thinking a lot of these are still going to be sitting on the shelf at $10. CC is probably going to have to drop a lot of these to $5 in the future. I guess it is a pretty good sale though if you're somebody who didn't get all the good games on the list in past deals, though.
 
Anyone noticed in TSD's post for this coming weekend's sale, he's listed it as "Sunday And Monday only"?

That seems to be a bit contradictory compared to what's been posted by demomanTNA about this being from the 3rd onwards.

First you must know that Baten Kaitos is a card-battling game. The card-battling gets a tad in-depth but the game is so incredibly easy that even if you just grasp the rudimentary aspects of it you will never die. You are like god in that game. It is still fun.

The question is...What kind of RPG do you like. Because there are three great RPG's for the Gamecube featuring three completely different kind of battle systems. Skies of Arcadia is a great RPG and that is turn-based. As previously mentioned Baten Kaitos is card-battling.

But in this humble posters opinion you should take your $10 and just put it towards Tales of Symphonia which retails for a $20 at most places nowadays. The battle system is real-time, you touch a monster you go into the battle you are fighting on a pseudo 3D plane fighting and casting spells in real time. It was my favorite RPG this generation...

Worse comes to worse though you could always buy Baten Kaitos and if you didnt like it sell it on EBAY or trade it in at EB or Gamestop for more than what you paid for it.....
 
I'm not getting anything for this deal. I've got several sealed CC games from last year that I haven't been able to get rid of...

how does the Pricegrabber rebates work though? you just write a review and get 5 dollars back... well can't you just do that without purchasing the game and get 5 bucks?

I also am a huge fan of PoP and was looking forward to the sequel... when it came down in price. I finally did pick it up, only to be disappointed. IMO, it is not even in the same league as the original PoP. I promptly traded it in, at a loss. I rarely get burned like this, but all the reviews I read praised the game. I don't think these reviewers played the original. At $10, at least you can get your money back when you trade it in. I was not so fortunate.

I'm with javery . . . I still have games from last year . . . but I did dump a bunch of my the lesser quality CC games (most I had tried) . . . turned a number of them (non POX) from $5 into $13.33 in EB credit (about 10 games total) during the 3 for a PSP game deal :) Last year's CC sale just keeps giving and giving.

This year looks like a bust (hopefully there will be some surprises).

I picked up one game of each that I wanted, which were the following:

Baten Kaitos
Transformers
Project Snowblind - Xbox
Robotech Invasion - Xbox
SNK vs. Capcom Svc Chaos
Eye Toy Groove

Tried to find, unsuccessfully:
Shadow Ops: Red Mercury
Nanobreaker

Picked up a couple other games, from CAGs who asked me to pick 'em up while I was out for my stuff.

I know at the stores I went to, which were three, there were plenty of the games on the shelf at the time I was there, multiple copies of numerous titles. Hopefully picked up by other CAGs or pulled into the back for the sale.

Though, I don't expect much to be left after Sunday.
 
At last year's sale, I was much more tempted to give less highly-regarded games a try for a mere $5 new, but at a higher $10 asking price, I'd only consider purchasing things I really wanted going in.

Unfortunately, it appears the widespread news of the coming sale has already alerted everyone within earshot of the sale, and my local store was already empty of sale titles yesterday afternoon. I'll probably still stop by the store Sunday morning just to see what a smaller version of Black Friday is like, but at this point, I'm not planning on getting any games this year.

I can't imagine them going to the trouble of pulling and re-stickering the games for a 2 day sale.

This is Circuit City, they usually don't resticker their game at all it seems. Usually when they have sales they have a little shelf tag that lets you know the sale price.

If someone could pick up Capcom vs. SNK SVC Chaos, Project Snowblind, King of Fighters or Psi-Ops for me, I'd be a happy cat. All PS2 except Capcom vs. SNK, of course.
 
Still lots of copies of games left at one of the Circuit City's around here.

Those lazy fuckers will probably leave them all on the shelf the day of the sale. At any event, I decided to hide a few titles just in case.

Didn't realize Project Snowblind was a halfway decent game, I might go back for that.

I'll throw this back out there, in case Shrike can't find me a copy: I'll pay cost + shipping for The Suffering for playstation 2, I'm really striking out in finding this game.
 
Well hell, if the sale last for only 2 days that really ruins my plans to stroll into the store after all of the craziness to do my PM's. I was gonna wait a week before I went, but now I guess I have to go in the middle of all the hubub.

I just got back from my CC (Rockford, IL) and the shelves had tons of gaps. I figured that they had pulled all of the sale games and put them in the back for the 3rd. I took a look around and saw several titles that were on the list but still on the shelf, specifically Project: Snowblind for Xbox. A worker asked if I needed help and I flat out asked him if they had pulled all the clearence games. He seemed stunned that I knew about the sale but said yes, all the clearence titles were in the back. Other info that I could get out of him was that all the games were going in a modified bin in the center of the game area with no real order to the titles other than by system. If they have time they try to go semi-alphabetical but no way perfect, if at all. He also said they were going to limit the number of titles to three. Does that mean three of each title or three titles total? He said both. Apparently, the store manager is annoyed with resellers coming in and cleaning out GH, PH titles for cheap and then turning around and selling them for $20 online. Fine by me, I only want two titles and a good deal is a good deal no matter how many games you get at that price.
 
I am having doubts about this years sale. There are really only two games that I want, but I doubt my CC will have them. I will end up with nothing this year :(. Last year was amazing though. As many have already said, $5 makes a huge difference.

Yeah, but I think people earlier in the thread mentioning that employees at some Circuit Citys were pulling the games listed for restickering.

a) the games on sale/clearance: are some buying them now & will have CC price match their sale once the sale begins?

Theoretically, yes.

We won't know for 100% certainty until the 3rd.
 
As a CAG, I feel obligated to do my due diligence and check it out first thing Sunday morning but I almost hope that I end up not getting anything since I have such a huge backlog already.

I am going to wait until the 3rd. Let's face it from the stories I hear CC has some problems and I would rather not deal with it.

Just so you know.....I have Samurai Warriors and Baten Kaitos up for trade, both new and sealed. If you can't get them Sunday, let me know and maybe we can work something out.
 
After further review of the list of $10 games I can honestly say.... Worst. Summer sale. EVER! :) There's only a couple of games worth owning on the list and $10 sure as hell isn't $5. What's the fuss?
 
I'm not about to fight a crowd of kids and soccer moms Sun morning. I went today to get what I wanted. There were really only two that interested me enough to pay $10 for, Prince of Persia 2 (GCN) and Madden 2005 (GCN). Actually, I called before hand to make sure they had them in stock knowing they probably had already pulled them. The guy on the phone just checked the computer and confirmed they had them.

When I went, sure enough they were nowhere to be found on the shelves. I told the cashier that somebody had told me those two games were in stock. He said okay and went to the back. Around 10 minutes later he came back with both games. They already had the $9.99 price tags on them but they still rang up $29.99. I wasn't going to argue as I'll just bring the receipt back next week to get the difference. In case they don't give me the difference, I'm not opening them until I get my money back. Otherwise, I'll just return them.

Yeah, it's not that great. I wouldn't say it's bad though. Compared to last year, this one is no good. I still was able to grab a handful of games that interested me like Project Snowblind, Robotech Invasion, and some others. I likely would have picked these up at BB with a GGC so this is a bit better.

Check with your local store. Do not check the website for store hours as they are often wrong. Some CC open at 10:00AM on Sunday and some open at 11:00AM. Call your local store and ask just to be sure.

Exactly. After looking over the list, there's nothing that even looks appealing to me.
 
STop Picky about $10 games. all of them still cheap compare to Sears, Kmart, Target and Bestbuy. Esspecially, Gamestop & Ebgames they still sell Pre-owned copy over $10 each.
