New PS2 with FFXI

Does anyone know if its possible to hook up an external hard drive, via usb ports, onto the new slim PS2's to play FFXI?

nope. Only Offical HDD works with FFXI

You have to do some modding to have the HDD work with the slim models. Google it and it can be done, but is it really worth the time, cash and effort?
