Is VC recommended for someone who's not into SRPG games?
I read great reviews and watched some gameplay video. Still not sure whether to pick it up or not.

VC is one of the best games I've played on the system.

My only complaint would be that certain levels can be ridiculously hard...

Yes! I was originally very skeptical that I would like this game because I thought it would be boring, hard to learn, and very difficult. None of those things were true about this game. Since you actually control the characters it doesn't feel boring. The game teaches you at a steady pace and as a newcomer I had very little trouble learning the rules of the game. The difficulty in this game is perfect, not too hard not too easy.

I'd recommend having about 3 different save files. That way if you mess up a turn you can just load a previous save instead of having to restart the map. I highly recommend getting this game, $16 is a steal for 30+ hours of content.

This game is great because it respect your intelligence and it respects your time. The gameplay is simple, and revolves around creative strategies and keeping in mind your enemies and your weakness. It doesn't explicity tell you how to accomplish your task like many games do today, it simply gives you suggestions that you're not required to follow. The length and pacing is about perfect. It never really feels like you're not making progress in the story mode, and there's no forced fluff it's all cut scenes and gameplay. There's plenty of side stories, missions, etc. but they're not forced on you, the side stuff is pretty good too.

Hi KornKid,

Thanks for your input, greatly appreciate it.
The only SRPG series I like were Front Mission.

Think I'll pick this up then. Another game in the backlog.

the Kinect version of Child of Eden is awesome! by far the most fun way to play, especially with vibrating controllers in your pockets!

here's me playing it... 720P videos. sorry for the heavy youtube compression. no matter what settings I set, Youtube just crushes it.

It's not often I'm straight up sold on appearance alone, but VC did just that. Forked over MSRP on its release date and made it probably not even halfway into the game. I'm just that bad at strategy games. But I don't regret it, in fact I even did the same thing when the sequel was released. I'm slightly relieved the third game was never released here, otherwise I'd buy that one and give up too.
