A MESSAGE FROM TRENT ABOUT THE SOUNDTRACK

This is what Atticus and I have been working on for the last few months. We had a great time working with David Fincher on this and the film turned out excellent - something we're very proud of. It opens in theatres Oct 1 and you should check it out.

Musically, this all came out of our secret laboratory - electronic in basis, but mostly organic sounding. Lots of experiments and emphasis on sound fraying around the edges while focusing on the proper emotional tone for the various scenes.

Regarding the purchase options, sorry about the "clunkiness" of not offering the full record digital download pre-sale (and having to visit Amazon). My agenda was to be able to offer this for the lowest possible price and this was the best way to achieve that. Amazon has been a great partner with past projects and I appreciate your understanding.
meh, I love NIN but this seems a little... off.
Really? Reminds me of The Fragile (which is a great thing)

Not bad... I definitely hear the Reznor in the music (at about 4:20 it almost sounds like previous NIN), but I really hope he lays down some vocals for the other songs on the EP... not saying she doesn't sound good, but Trent's vocals are much better than hers.

Oh and if you think that this sounds off, just be happy its not more like her old band's shit.

I think it's got potential, I just want to hear Trent behind the mic as well. I'm glad that he's putting out something new so quickly after the "Wave Goodbye"!

You know what, I kind of like it. Very NIN-esque, but with a female singer who's sort of soothing. Kind of refreshing, when you think about it, but I definitely love NIN and am already waiting for the next album/tour. Honestly, very solid track, especially for its length. I'm now quite eager to listen to the rest of the EP.

Funny, I was just coming here to post about this. I like it a lot. To me it feels like a cross between The Fragile and Year Zero with female vocals. I'm really looking forward to the rest of this EP. If it's half as good as this track, then it's going to be a fantastic EP. Trent can do no wrong. The band also features Atticus Ross apparently.

These are my thoughts exactly. Not bad but I'd rather hear Trent on vocals.... but then it would be NIN. There just aren't that many good female rock singers.

Yeah, I was definitely feeling Year Zero on this, which is awesome since I love that album from NIN.

I liked it. Not sure it came close to genre-defining hits such as Don't Trust Me by 3Oh!3 or Over by Drake. But it was still pretty good.

I like The Space in Between way more than A Drowning but both are very post-The Downward Spiral NIN-ny.

I'll definitely get the EP, most of my favorite bands/musicians are broken up or dead nowadays, I'm happy to see Trent still kicking around.
Wow, that Tetsuo track was really awesome! I can't wait for more new NIN and The Fragile re-release details!

Also, the How To Destroy Angels EP will be released July 6th. The preorder is already up on Amazon.

Yeah, I preordered it last night. With Amazon Prime/free 2 day shipping, they'll be delivering it on the release date.

Preorder options are up on http://howtodestroyangels.com

The digital version will be free. You can preorder now and get The Believers song right now for free.
Pay $2 and get a Hi-def update where you can download the EP in 24-bit WAV (44.1 kHz), FLAC, or Apple Lossless, plus 320 kbps MP3, and the music video for "The Space in Between" in a range of video formats up to 1080p

They have a limited edition t-shirt/digital bundle limited to 120 that costs $50
2 different style girls t-shirts/digital bundles for $25
3 different style mens t-shirts/digital bundles for $20
2 different poster/digital bundles for $25
And a sticker/digital bundle package for $5

Figures that the t-shirt I like most is in the $50 package.

Still tempted though.

EDIT - Thank god crazier NIN fans than me bought out my size. Saved me at least $30.

After wavering for a bit, I bit on poster #1, because I'm weak. I wish it looked like either the EP cover, or the similar sticker in the sticker pack, but oh well.

Thanks a lot OP. Sometimes I love the Reznor side projects even more than NIN stuff.

I went ahead and ordered the upgraded album which Ill test drive for a week and maybe come back for one of the EPs or shirts.
Yea, cant wait hope its good
Parasite will blow you away. Goddamn is that a sexy piece of glitchy noise.

Awesome EP, I love it. And spor is right, she said they would tour after their full length album. I can't wait for the tour, it's got to be awesome. I hope it's just them 3 on stage with guitars and equipment, no drummer. And you know they'll be doing some NIN stuff, most likely Year Zero or instrument light Ghosts tunes, stuff that doesn't require a drummer.

I wouldn't mind seeing them pull a modwheelmood and add a drummer to the live setup...only thing they have to do surround him with those noise barriers so he doesn't overpower the rest of the sound.

I was planning on taking some time off after the continual waves of touring that ended last fall and spend this year experimenting around with what would become How To Destroy Angels and some new NIN. Well, that plan didn't work out so well. David Fincher started inquiring about my interest in scoring his upcoming film, The Social Network. Yeah, the movie about the founding of Facebook. I've always loved David's work but quite honestly I wondered what would draw him to tell that story. When I actually read the script and realized what he was up to, I said goodbye to that free time I had planned. Atticus Ross and I have been on a creative roll so I asked him if he wanted to work on this with me and we signed on.

Months later, I'm happy to tell you we're nearing the completion of this and I couldn't be happier with how it's turned out. The level of excellence that David operates on is inspiring and the entire process has been challenging and truly enjoyable.

As Atticus and I near the end of the scoring process, we're looking forward to the next phase - distilling the large amount of music we've written for this down to a satisfying record (or two). The film opens Oct 1 in the US with the record likely available a couple of weeks ahead of that.

Speaking of the film... it's really fucking good. And dark!

Should be awesome.
