Nintendo E3 2010 Press Conference - 3DS, Kid Icarus, Zelda, DKC, Kirby!

Wow, the Nintendo Live feed kept skipping/cutting/etc and was really pissing me off. I missed most of the gameplay videos shown, and have only found the Zelda one so far. Hopefully the other ones are uploaded soon.
Did the site go down for everyone for a while?
Sure did

Yeah, CAG was struggling the whole time. GAF imploded when the 3DS stuff came out.

There's an Iwata Asks interview going on right now at Nintendo's site. Close-ups of 3DS, and they mentioned the Virtual Boy and Pilotwings in passing.

http://e3.nintendo.com/

EDIT: Now they're moving to Zelda.

I got what I wanted from Nintendo. A new Kirby and a new Donkey Kong. Although the Kirby doesn't really do it for me. I'll still play it,but they should have made it like it use to be instead of changing it and adding more motion controls.

Kid Icarus on the 3DS? I just jizzed in my pants.

Metal Gear Solid on the 3DS? Kojima talking about jungles? I just dry orgasmed in my pants.

Yeah, quite a few big names on that third-party rundown. Saints Row, Metal Gear, Resident Evil, Kingdom Hearts, Assassin's Creed.

Hmmmm. Not sure if want.

If there are no other colors then I am definitely out. After buying all 4 iterations of the DS I'm not sure if I should wait for the next version of this to come out. I guess we'll see what happens when the demo stations and software demos come out.

As for Wii? Nothing for me except Zelda and Wii Party.

Hats off to Nintendo for finally going back to giving gamers what they want: games. Glad they kept the casual shit to a minimum.

Sony is not gonna have an easy too topping this.

I like how Microsoft can have the worst E3 ever while Nintendo does almost the same things with sequels to key franchises and people get what they want.

Not that I'm complaining. I want to play Kid Icarus and Zelda :D

Zelda: Skyword Sword
Metroid Other M
Mario Sports Mix
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Kirby's Epic Yarn
Kid Icarus Uprising
Disney Epic Mickey
Golden Sun Dark Dawn

ALL WILL BE MINE. Lock this up, Nintendo won. They killed every site on the net with pure epicness

This may have been the best E3 Press Conference ever. No lame celebrities, no fake enthusiasm and very little chest pumping. From Epic Mickey to Kid Icarus 3DS to the actual 3DS itself, I'm excited. I especially can't wait for the new Donkey Kong Country. They kicked some major ass today. They have won this E3 hands-down.

A+

Geez. I sleep late and Nintendo goes fucking nuts! I'm happy about pretty much all of this news. I hope Sony can give a decent follow-up.

I think I'm getting old. I really look forward to a new Zelda and Metroid but that's about it. I'll reserve judgment on the 3DS until I see it in person - it sounds really cool but I don't think you can fully understand it without actually playing it. I hope they don't screw up Kid Icarus.
And not a single mention of the Vitality Sensor.
Yeah, that's pretty interesting that it was a no show. Maybe never to be seen again? Or maybe they figure they've got to wait until they actually have something to show that explains its existence.

The show was great. Started off slow, but then lots of great stuff to look forward to, and I'll be perhaps alone in saying that I really liked how Kirby game looked. I wish they'd found a way to show us the 3DS, but there was no way to do that. I presume they'll have kiosks in stores showing it off like they do the DS Lite now. Only other thing - no mention of a release date nor a price. I think I owe somebody a taco.

+1 on the no fake enthusiasm and such. Well Reggae a little bit, but there's no way around that to some extent. It was a huge improvement over their past efforts.

They have won E3 hands down. It seems they are finally able to strike a sense of balance between who they are talking to and what they need to show. :p

I'm extremely happy! Nintendo 3DS can't come sooner! And I'm very surprised that Retro seems to have brought Donkey Kong out of the dead! Finally someone competent to revive it!

I do wish they would confirm that Xenoblade and The Last Story are coming Stateside though, hopefully a press sheet will show that.

I could see it just fine since I do not plan to use the 3D at all. While I am not very interested in Kid Icarus, the game itself looked really badass, so that raises my expectations for the 3DS. However, I definitely want to see how more games look on it plus some info about the list of games that Cao Cao posted.
BTW, Paper Mario got confirmed for 3DS, as did Super Street Fighter IV.
Do you have a link to the article or some details on if Paper Mario is a remake/new game/etc?
Am I the only one that thought that the Zelda game was dumb?
No. Based on what they've shown so far I agree. The graphics looked like the middle point between Wind Waker and Twilight Princess and were just OK, nothing thrilling. The play mechanics aren't what needed to be changed. It's the pacing and structure of the entire game that needs to be overhauled. I'm already guessing that the game is going to feel just like another Zelda but with tactical waggle and I am in no rush to play it.

This event was so good that even CheapyD must have been impressed, nevermind he doesn't like stuff unless its a shooter. But even he has to realize that the event was infinitely superior to the MS one.

We didn't see much information about the 3DS because its not going to launch till fall 2011 in the US, we'll have more info closer to the japanese early 2011 launch.

as far as Zelda, Epic Mickey also had interference, Google had the same problem a few weeks ago and Apple a week ago. With so many bluetooth devices at the same place it causes interference.

best E3 conference ever. loved it. also that 3DS game list is simply mindblowing. it may be my first day buy for me. i already want all Shin Megami Tensei games, Super Street Fighter 4, DJ Hero, Professor Layton, Blood Rayne(HELL YEAH, i loved this series), Boy and His Blob, Ridge Racer, Mario Kart, Kid Icarus, Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden, Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, de Blob 2, Saints Row. my head explodes. they better release it next year cuz i need to start collect money for all those games.
Do you have a link to the article or some details on if Paper Mario is a remake/new game/etc?
Well, SSF4 was on one of the screens, everything else people are mentioning.

I'm with ya, I didn't really feel all that excited about the games that were announced except for Goldeneye. I have to say though, for gamers, no doubt the Nintendo presser was much better then the MS one so far.

That list is likely real. Nintendo confirmed alot of things with this press release (Also from GAF).

Nintendo changed the world of video games with touch-screen gaming on the Nintendo DS™ in 2004. Nintendo then pioneered the motion-controlled gaming revolution with the Wii™ console and the Wii Remote™ controller back in 2006. Today the company unveils an even more immersive gaming experience: Nintendo 3DS™.

At the E3 Expo today, Nintendo gave the world the first look at a portable system that lets people view games in 3D, without the need for special glasses. Nintendo also announced a substantial list of upcoming games for Nintendo 3DS, the Wii console and the Nintendo DS family of systems – a lineup that reads like a who’s who of some of the greatest franchises in video game history with a completely new look and feel.

“The additional dimension of depth in 3D makes it easier for players to judge distances while giving developers a new tool to create games and experiences that play with both height and depth,” said Nintendo video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, who pioneered the fully rendered 3D video game world with Super Mario 64™.

Nintendo 3DS comes with a 3.53-inch top screen and a 3.02-inch bottom touch screen. It has three cameras – one inner and two outer – to deliver the 3D effect and take 3D pictures. It includes a motion sensor, a gyro sensor and even a Slide Pad that allows 360-degree analog input. At the E3 Expo, Nintendo showed attendees a range of games and applications for Nintendo 3DS that reinvent some of the industry’s most beloved franchises. These include:

•Kid Icarus™: Uprising, the long-awaited franchise follow-up to the NES™ classic.
•Mario Kart™, which shows off the potential of driving and tossing bananas in 3D.
•nintendogs™ + cats, a new version of the best-selling nintendogs franchise that lets players interact even more with their virtual puppies – and kittens!

•StarFox 64™ 3D, a game that demonstrates the true distance and depth of outer space using Nintendo’s well-known franchise.
•Steel Diver™, a new submarine-navigation game from Nintendo.
•Paper Mario™, which brings paper-based 2D environments to life.
Nintendo 3DS also comes to market with the strongest third-party support of any video game system in Nintendo history. Games on display at the Nintendo booth at the E3 Expo include:

Additional games are in development by Atlus, AQ Interactive, Disney Interactive Studios, Harmonix, Hudson Soft, Majesco, Marvelous Entertainment, Rocket, SEGA, Takara Tommy and Take-Two Interactive.

Nintendo also announced a substantial slate of games on the way for its Wii console and Nintendo DS family of systems, with a list of characters and franchises that appeal to all types of gamers.

”If the video game industry had an All-Star team, Nintendo’s games would fill the starting lineup,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “The combination of advanced interface and engaging game play broadens our appeal to all audiences. This is evidenced perfectly at the E3 Expo this year by the incredible new experience and controls that Wii MotionPlus brings to The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.”

Wii:

•The Legend of Zelda™: Skyward Sword: The game marks a turning point for the franchise, as the introduction of full motion controls enabled by the Wii MotionPlus™ accessory synchronizes player movements with Link’s actions while offering the most intuitive play control of any Legend of Zelda game to date. I honestly have no idea what Sony could possibly show that would top any of that. I think this year's E3 can easily go to Nintendo at this point, especially if the 3DS plays well on the floor.

I think the biggest contrast between this and Microsoft's presentation was the element of surprise. Yes, both companies showed sequels/revamps, but a lot of the Nintendo stuff was out of nowhere. Kirby, Donkey Kong, Kid Icarus (!)... all things that may have been rumored, but never 'real', as it were. Microsoft showed a lot of things that were already announced, which just makes it less exciting.

Also, I'm really glad that the success of NSMBWii has sort of opened the floodgates for more old school-type games. Side-scrolling Kirby and DK? Yes, please. :D

EDIT - Jesus, that 3DS game list is INCREDIBLE. That's the only possible word for it.

OH SHITx100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

OH

SHIT

Well, I guess that gives me some time to continue to complete my DS collection. College was a bitch and I missed out on a world of titles that spanned two years.

I just got a hold of Gambare Goemon DS that came out years ago, and I have so much more, not to mention the new ones coming out too. Damn!

HOLY SHIT.

As of this moment, I'm preparing myself for two things:
My wallet emptying itself in the future
Rarely leaving my house because of all these new games being played

And Nintendo...goddamn...Kid Icarus. I'm really tempted to buy a handheld again.
