You have to remember that Diablo 3 does not have a continuing source of income like WoW or Overwatch. Buy it, the expansions and you are done. The RMAH is gone. They don't have loot boxes (well they kind do with the vendor, but different). Of course they are working on Diablo 4, and it will definitely have some form of ongoing revenue, either a persistent world with a monthly fee, loot boxes or microtransactions (or all of that). Immortal is important to them beyond China because it is likely their way of testing the western market for this.

Actually, that's exactly why Diablo Immortal makes sense, and not Diablo 4.

One of the rumors, backed by insider comments, is that Diablo 4 is a MMO. (like WoW, so monthly sub..)

They hired someone to work "in the Diablo universe" with a background in MMO games... thats right from their job postings.

IMO since immortal is being made by someone else, just licensed, it was an easy cash grab.. which is going to backfire hard.

*shrug* I would have just assumed it'd be like a Diablo spinoff, like Fallout 76. WoW also isn't Warcraft 4 in that sense.

I think you are right. If this was the next Diablo, they would have made it themselves, no way they want to share revenue worldwide on a flagship game (though they will partner in markets where it is necessary). They used NetEase because it gives them easier access to the notoriously difficult to enter China market. This kind of game is tailored to that market, but I think Blizzard was stuck with nothing big to show and wanted to test out the microtransaction driven model on the US so they went with it. This looks like a decision that came down from Activision marketing.

 
To further add to the craziness that is Blizzcon 2018...  :beer:

Kotaku claims they have info that a Diablo 4 announcement video was pulled from Blizzcon 2018 at the last minute. (seems like the writer had seen a version of the video, provided by his "sources")

Blizzard now denies it, but as the video points out.. Blizzard doesn't comment on rumors like this. So more oddities.

It's a quality game if you enjoy Kirby games. A little easy and a tad short, but an enjoyable experience, my 9 yr old son loved it. But he was able to 100% it fairly quickly. If you are an older skilled, seasoned gamer keep that in mind. $30 is a reasonable price for it.

I don't think we really know. No games have left so far, but it would not surprise me if anything not first party eventually were to leave and that's because you don't "purchase" them like you do on PSN. There's nothing, at the moment, that really ties them to your account.

It's more like PlayStation Now, where you get the app and can play all of the games in it as much as you want as long as you have an active sub. They've said that they're only adding to it rather than a monthly suite of games:

Always open to "sales pitches" for underground eshop goodies (few and far between, buried in the huge dumpster of steam greenlight-quality shovelware, I know). Like Pool Panic - that any good?
 
For those interested, I would give Elena Temple a shot and 1979 Revolution.  Elena Temple was something I put 3 hours into and it was very much a pick up and play title that I did a little at a time.  It's very much a original Gameboy type platformer with the light puzzle elements so a little janky.  I will not say it's mind blowing but it was a fun time waster game while I was watching the baseball playoffs and football.  It didn't require a lot of focus.  Revolution isn't for everyone but I thought it had a good story to tell.  Very Telltale like in terms of presentation and gameplay.  I like history so this was right up my alley as I'm not that familiar with the Iranian revolution.  It's something I liked but you may want to wait until it's cheaper yet.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I really want the 40th Anniversary SNK Collection, and I know it comes out on the 13th. Does that mean that at midnight it will suddenly be on the eShop, or does that mean it will be released at some point tomorrow during the day? Also, if it is released at midnight, would it be midnight Eastern time, or midnight Pacific time, or some other time zone? Thanks.

It tends to vary by game, and they are usually tied to Pacific time.

Most games seem to come out at noon eastern (9am pacific). Besides first party games only a small handful come out at midnight Eastern (9pm pacific).

If it's not available for pre-order, it'll be out at Noon ET like any other release.
