I'm thinking of getting it and selling my physical copy.

I know they added the ability to sign in on a non-primary switch console and play your digital games.. but does this work even if you aren't subscribed to the online service? I've read conflicting things when researching this, thanks.

You can also buy eShop credit directly from Amazon. No discount (well I guess the $10 code for $9.99 is technically like 0.1 percent off). But you can use it for games that Amazon doesn't have codes for, and you definitely get gold coins buying on the eShop.

Also Target has eShop codes which are 5% off if you have a Redcard.

I am currently playing it. I love it. I tried getting into it on PC but I couldn't. I think I value gaming on the go more than better graphics, prices etc. Maybe all of this is because I have a young kid and playing on the go is primarily my gaming time.

The messenger and dead cells are soo tempting. How do you all like these two?

The Messenger is an exceptionally well-made Metroidvania that I personally just found a little soulless. Really good, really tight platforming, and a very cool time-travel gimmick that swaps the graphics between 8- and 16-bit art styles... I just didn't fall in love with it the way I did, say, Hollow Knight.
Playing Dead Cells now, and it's great. Like a more polished version of Rogue Legacy (which I loved) with a bigger focus on combat. Great game to scratch that roguelike itch.

So now that smash is out, what controllers are you using to play it?

Got the game in the mail Thursday so already played it a bunch. I preordered a GC adapter so had that ready at launch. My kids and I have used the GC Wavebird, OG GC wired controller, Switch Pro, and Switch Joycons in the controller shell. Everything works so well. Haven't tried single joycons... shouldn't have to do that with my fleet of GC wavebirds.

It's typically the first controller that pops into my head a split second after someone asks, "What's your favorite controller?". I loved it so much I bought four of them for my GC and then another GC a friend was selling that came with a couple of them.

I misplaced my Wavebirds somehow, but did find my regular GC controllers.

Played tonight using the cons in handheld and my new Pro while docked. It feels fine either way and I'm still getting used to the Pro, but boy am I rusty. Haven't played Smash since Brawl, and even then I didn't play that one too long after the launch window.

Bought a Switch for Smash and so far so good but my TV turned black for some reason. I could still hear the sound but no image. I powered on and powered on my TV then there was no HDMI signal. I had to undock and dock the Switch but it would happen again. I don't have any other games but it didn't happened while browsing the eshop or playing NES games. I re-set my dock and it helped, the game lasted longer before the TV would go black eventually.

How long is your HDMI cord? How old is it?

This sounds like signal dropping from either an overly long (10' or more) or a potentially degraded cable.

Is the light on the dock flashing? I had that issue when I first got mine and it turned out to be the order I plugged everything in.

Unplug everything and then either plug the AC adapter in first or the hdmi first. Sorry I can't remember which but try one then the other. That seemed to fix it for me. Haven't had the issue since.
