Damn...I shouldn’t have impulse bought Taiko off of the Japanese Amazon store last year. That’s a great deal on Taiko. Wish I held off of Katamari too.

I would prefer physical but that’s a tempting sale on Tales of Vesperia.

I like Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon. I'm a big fan of rogue type games though and it's a fun one for sure. Story is a bit not so great IMHO (put me to sleep once or twice), but it has good game play.

I bought Taiko and Tales of Vesperia. I used to get all the wacky controllers for the Dreamcast when that was the rage. Trying to decide if I want to import the drum controllers.

Well, I bought Taiko for the PS4 and found it very unsatisfying to play with a controller, pressing buttons. I eventually caved and bought a Taiko Drum controller off of Ebay. It's MUCH better to play it that way, but it was nearly $100, so I guess it depends how much you want to play it. I imagine playing with the Joy Cons as drumsticks (I assume you do that) would be pretty satisfactory and way cheaper. Didn't have an option like that with the PS4.

Anybody interested in an arcade racing game should check out Asphalt 9: Legends since it's a free-to-play game. It has some of the mobile BS in it, but so far, the career mode offers enough bonuses to ignore them.

I made a club for CAGs in there for people here to join, so do a search for "CAG" and it should show up to request an invite.

 
You guys are really making it difficult for me to ignore GameStop's current sale where they are offering a $25 GameStop gift card with the purchase of a new Switch.  The prices for some of these Switch games are bananas, and I already have lots of coins on my account from my 3DS eShop purchases.  Trying to hold out for at least one more day although I expect to cave by Sunday afternoon.

The irony is that I have absolutely too many games already. But it would be nice if Nintendo would let you purchase Switch games on your Nintendo account without actually owning a Switch. I purchased PS4 and Xbox One games on their online stores before I owned either of those systems. I suppose Nintendo is trying to combat piracy, but it's still dumb.

Frisky, I found your club but there isn't an option to request an invite. I don't know if it is because it is private or not. My username on there is Lostmind76.
 
Apparently, Target will have the Switch with free $25 Target gift card deal from Sunday, October 13th through Saturday, October 19th if you don't want to buy it at Amazon or GameStop.  However, Target gift cards cannot be used to buy other gift cards since the POS keeps it from working.

Got to Target, and I just couldn't pull the trigger.  As TheLegendofTyler suggested, I will wait until Black Friday to see what Switch bundles or deals will be coming.  I assume that most of the eShop games that are on sale for 99 cents will be 99 cents again at some point.

I recommend this as well for anyone that likes picross and has not played it, since it's basically free. Especially because of the Micross puzzle which I really liked a lot. I'd play a whole game of those to be honest.

 
Yeah I've seen a few cheap ones repeat. The discounts you never want to miss out on are Picross games, which once in a blue moon go on sale and usually only once or twice or 1st party games heavily discounted (this is likely more for physical versions).

 
I also hope some of those Picross titles go on sale, the Kemono Friends one was literally the first thing I played on my Switch and I’ve kept going back to it over and over.

Also on 3DS is Pokemon Picross, but its free-to-play trappings are likely to piss you off enormously. You literally can clear everything the game has to offer and not have earned enough in-game currency to unlock the other modes.

The puzzles in Pokemon Picross are pretty bad since most of them are just faces, which doesn't make for interesting art to uncover.

You’re right. That is also an issue in the Kemono Friends one, where (micross puzzles aside) that’s mostly what you’re doing, but I don’t recall minding it as much there.

Now I’m just thinking Pokemon Picross makes the process so infuriating it makes you see the flaws of these games...

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll wait on Mummy but maybe not on the Picross games. I've played the Zelda one, which is pretty good, but yeah the Pokemon one is infuriatingly locked behind paywalls. I've played all the Picross games on the 3ds, including both 3D ones, so I've been jonesing for some more quality titles!
 
Finally caved and ordered a new switch light for each of my two kids... had the wii-u but was gonna skip the switch cause I hate no BC with Wii/U games and no game sharing etc. But then i'm thinking ahead to Christmas and eh this is something they will both like, esp with Pokémon Sword & Shield coming out soon.

For now i'm mostly gonna grab physical games so I am hoping you guys can suggest best games to pick up for a 7 & 13 year old. With the systems I got Mario Odyssey, Link's Awakening, Yoshi's Crafted World, Astral Chain, Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

Soon i'll be getting Luigi Mansion 3 and both Pokémon Sword and Shield. Might pick up Mario Kart if I can find it cheap.

Anything else I should be looking at? I don't know if we will ever get the standard model Switch FYI.

Also, what is the best carry case for these and car charger/accessories etc?

You can do game sharing to a degree, one of the systems must be connected to the internet though, so once you get out of the house it becomes impractical.

It’s extremely sturdy and has plenty of space. On the model I have you can fit both the massive charger and a Joycon grip with a little fiddling.

Invest in decently-sized SD cards, the case has plenty of space for carts, but you don’t really want your kids to have to juggle around too many of those. On the other hand, you might want to buy physical when the games have bigger file sizes.

Edit: For games, Katamari Damacy is on sale until the 20th, that’s an evergreen ball of fun in my opinion (and has a demo). There’s a trio of Naruto games bundled for $20 right now too, if that’s within their interest. You could have them try the Dragon Quest XI demo and see how they like it, it’s mostly family friendly (a 7 year old is probably not going to like the “everyone hates you and your nice hometown is destroyed” twist early on) and I personally found it immediately charming and engaging. Cuphead is as objectionable as an old Tom & Jerry short, but it’s fun, also HARD.

If you ever get some standalone Joycons I’d recommend Super Mario Party and Heave Ho, which are a genuine blast to play with other people.

Actually coming up with stuff to recommend to kids is hard, huh?

PixelPuzzle is a fun picross style game from konami that is on android and iOS. I started playing it last week when i heard it mentioned on the giant bombcast and have been enjoying it.

Really liking this as a dungeon crawling rogue-lite action-RPG with some interesting story that progresses between runs to give you a bit more meat to why you're trying to get through these different dungeons. This was delayed on Switch to 11/20.
