Reminder, I set up a CAG club in the game for those playing, so search for "CAG" and it should come up. The full name is "The CAG Burnouts" to be sure you found the right one.
I ended up playing Asphalt 9 for about 3 hours last night. Overall, it's solid fun. At no point did I hit a pay wall but I did get close only to level up and get a free refill of gas. After unlocking a few cars that makes it much easier since one car can be refueling while another one is being used and it only takes a couple races before a favorite is back usable. I've spend none of the blue tokens earned thus far. I'm going to see how far I can make it without spending them or any actual cash.

Anyway, yeah that was me that requested in the group. Thanks. I'm not sure I'll do much to help, but I will at least try to get the group the 50 rep points the days I do play for the daily challenge.

Finally caved and ordered a new switch light for each of my two kids...

For now i'm mostly gonna grab physical games so I am hoping you guys can suggest best games to pick up for a 7 & 13 year old. With the systems I got Mario Odyssey, Link's Awakening, Yoshi's Crafted World, Astral Chain, Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

Soon i'll be getting Luigi Mansion 3 and both Pokémon Sword and Shield. Might pick up Mario Kart if I can find it cheap.
It would probably make more sense to get a Switch + Switch Lite for multiplayer reasons. They'd be able to play Yoshi's Crafted World, Smash, Mario Kart, etc. multiplayer more easily. Mario Odyssey technically has multiplayer, but it's more of an afterthought. Luigi's Mansion too.

Link's Awakening is also really short.

Astral Chain sort of stands out in your list as something for a different audience than everything else you got.

Toki Retrollector Edition is $9.97 new at Gamestop.

This is the collectors edition that comes with stickers, 2 numbered art prints, a comic book, and an awesome wooden arcade cabinet replica thing you can assemble and place the switch console in :hot: Find an unboxing video or scroll down to the Gamestop reviews to see a picture of it.

However, the game is short. Once you learn how the enemies attack you can navigate through the 6 levels in about an hour. It must've tanked since it's in stock at a ton of Gamestops near me (still in stock at my local store even after placing my order). But the hand-drawn graphics and all the physical goodies you get are a steal for $10.

Finally caved and ordered a new switch light for each of my two kids... had the wii-u but was gonna skip the switch cause I hate no BC with Wii/U games and no game sharing etc. But then i'm thinking ahead to Christmas and eh this is something they will both like, esp with Pokémon Sword & Shield coming out soon.

Anything else I should be looking at? I don't know if we will ever get the standard model Switch FYI.

Also, what is the best carry case for these and car charger/accessories etc?

You can do game sharing to a degree, one of the systems must be connected to the internet though, so once you get out of the house it becomes impractical.

As for cases, I use the regular Switch equivalent of this one: https://www.amazon.com/ButterFox-Carrying-Nintendo-Accessories-Joy-Cons/dp/B07V3Q9GZM/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?keywords=butterfox+switch+lite&qid=1571013462&sr=8-7
It’s extremely sturdy and has plenty of space. On the model I have you can fit both the massive charger and a Joycon grip with a little fiddling.

Invest in decently-sized SD cards, the case has plenty of space for carts, but you don’t really want your kids to have to juggle around too many of those. On the other hand, you might want to buy physical when the games have bigger file sizes.

Edit: For games, Katamari Damacy is on sale until the 20th, that’s an evergreen ball of fun in my opinion (and has a demo). There’s a trio of Naruto games bundled for $20 right now too, if that’s within their interest. You could have them try the Dragon Quest XI demo and see how they like it, it’s mostly family friendly (a 7 year old is probably not going to like the “everyone hates you and your nice hometown is destroyed” twist early on) and I personally found it immediately charming and engaging. Cuphead is as objectionable as an old Tom & Jerry short, but it’s fun, also HARD.

If you ever get some standalone Joycons I’d recommend Super Mario Party and Heave Ho, which are a genuine blast to play with other people.

Actually coming up with stuff to recommend to kids is hard, huh?
Just to be clear, Switch has game sharing exactly the same as it works on PS4 / Xbox, the only issue is that the switch is a portable platform and will need to be in range of wifi to check home, the PS4 checks back often for licenses, you just don't notice because how often are you walking around with a ps4 strapped to you etc etc.

I would have definitely gone Regular Switch and a Lite, but whatevs. All the Nintendo stuff is great for kids, your list is a great start. My kids play BOTW, DQ Builders 2 and all the mario stuff etc. Luigi's Mansion is next on the horizon.

I never got into Overwatch on the PC or consoles.  Was going to give it a spin on the Switch this week, but the Hong Kong stuff is disappointing.  I don't want to feel like a heel for disregarding what their own player base is doing with a boycott.

Wow thanks for the info, I didn't know that Sony had made this change on the PS4 side. But I guess it's partly my fault! I have a PS3 which hasn't connected to the internet in like six years, which is signed into a ton of accounts with games from the glory days of gameshares on CAG. I am guessing on the day I connect it to the internet, I'll lose access to most of those...

If you guys are interested in overwatch it's 33.88 at Walmart but not an actual cartridge. plus all the controversy and all that but I'm just informing on the discount.

I'm not saying you should or shouldn't buy it. But if you do buy it, don't pay full price.

In case anyone still cares to discuss Picross, I like Mario's Picross on the GB VC myself.  It's only $4.  Not a sale, but at least it's cheap.

I tried Pokemon Picross a few years back and got sick of it pretty quickly.  It's F2P and it shows.  Though I admit that having not played Picross before that, it did a good job of explaining the rules.

Wait what... really? I googled my butt off trying to find answers to this question but it seemed like Nintendo hadn't enabled true game sharing like MS or Sony still. So how would it work exactly? I have to make a secondary switch my primary account but purchase games on the main TV switch and then I can share games l on only one switch lite like ps4 and xbox? Also, I have two kids... both want the switch lite and if I only got one it wouldn't be fair to the other. Having two mobile only consoles would make it harder to share games digitally wouldn't it?

I'm honestly hoping that Nintendo does release a beefier TV only switch to compete w XBX2 and PS5.. maybe then I will buy a main TV switch. I realize that makes multiplayer on stuff like Mario Kart and Smash Bros impossible but eh i'm going to try and hold out for this scenario if I can.

Ermm Astral Chain is for me and i'll eventually get some others like Octopath for myself. If I can get one of my kids to lend me their switch to play that is haha (yeah right)

Fun fact, gold coins are rounded up, so if you're buying a game with coins you can spend 1 less coin, pay 1 cent, and get 1 gold coin back. It's basically a free $0.01 off everything.

I picked up RAD and have been playing off and on a few hours. It honestly is decently well made, even though it's a bit blurry in both handheld and I believe docked as well. I think the controls are OK enough though juggling powers and doing the fighting feels a bit lagged at times making dodging, jumping, attacking and just doing stuff a bit imprecise. I'm not feeling the loop honestly. You feel like you get a bit more stronger and enemies keep getting faster and harder a bit too quickly every level. I'm likely dropping this one though it's somewhat fun. Just feels really cheap and you will die a lot. The music is excellent though. Not recommended unless there is a heavier discount.

I've been enjoying Asphalt 9 Legends so far.  I'm getting close to wrapping up the initial first area of the campaign.  I haven't spent a single blue coin thing yet (and have 564 of them) as I'm trying to see how far I can go just on the winnings from racing in the various modes.   The soundtrack is solid and reminds me a lot of past classic arcade racers.    Most tracks have multiple branching paths that criss-cross that I need to better memorize.  That's my main issue so far and I know I just need to purposefully tank a bunch of races to explore and really get to know each area better rather than relying on stumbling on them by following the AI.

I think this just hit at the right time.  I haven't had a good run with racers in a while and I am a fan of Asphalt from the days of the first two games on DS as well as some of the followups on DSi, iOS, 3DS, & Vita.

Are there any better ARCADE car racers on Switch?   I'm talking a nice career mode and a lot to do with some fun mechanics in cars (not ships flying).  Not sim racing but more arcade (Ridge Racer / Burnout / Asphalt) racing.

To anyone who had a regular switch and got a switch lite: Have you noticed a massive difference in quality? I was debating getting one around christmas, partially for the battery life, but also because my current switch is scuffed up a bit (it's worth noting I NEVER play docked, so that's not a concern).

If the lite could be docked I’d never use the regular switch again. It’s way better in handheld mode.

In terms of quality they’re both the same. Not being made of three parts does make the lite feel sturdier, and it’s a lot lighter and more comfortable to hold.

The only things better about the regular switch in handheld is the battery lasts longer (new model) and the screen is bigger. The small screen of the lite does make games look crisper though.

So basically comfort vs battery life.

I primarily play RPGs, and thanks to old man eyes Super Neptunia RPG and Xenonblade Chronicles are just about unreadable because the text in a lot of areas is too small on the Lite.

Aside from that though, I prefer it over the regular switch. I also never play docked.

Picked one up. I use to like this on NES & Genesis. Can't go wrong for $10

I'm a very big fan of Horizon Chase Turbo, but it's more of an old-school arcade racer than even Asphalt 9. It's basically like the Top Gear games on SNES (including the same composer). I had a lengthy campaign, and lots of stuff/challenges to work on too than just getting 1st place in races. Plus the devs have been continuing to support the game with new content.

Appreciated. I'll have to take a closer look at it. Have they fixed the bug that when not connected to the internet it stops the game before a race with a popup box on Switch? I see a lot of reviews mention it and comments as recent as the last two months. It was free on PS+ not long ago, I should probably just play it on PS4 whenever I get around to playing PS4 stuff.

Reminder, I set up a CAG club in the game for those playing, so search for "CAG" and it should come up. The full name is "The CAG Burnouts" to be sure you found the right one.
Finally fired up Asphalt 9 this afternoon, got far enough to unlock Club so I sent an invite to it! (I'm madmatt213 on there)

Not sure about the offline bug, I always have played it at home on wifi, so I never encountered that issue. I forgot to mention it was free on PS+, definitely try it there to see if you like it.

Switch Game sharing works just like the PS4, have a Primary and Secondary account, buy everything on the Primary and make one Switch that Accounts main switch, but only the Secondary account plays on that Switch.

On your other Switch you can log in with the Primary account and download and play any game as long as it can verify on the internet that you have a license. I think the only restriction is that you can't play the exact same game at the same time. Otherwise the same.

Like others have said that always connected stuff sucks, but it exists for the other systems you just don't notice because they're not portable.

The restriction you mentioned is a huge one and a deal breaker. So it is not just like PS4 at all.

It really isn't though. On Sony, you can play games on two Vitas at the same time, or two PS4s at the same time. If you don't have a connection, it still works for much longer than the next time you sleep your Switch.

Edit: I haven't confirmed, since I only got my second Switch Monday. But from what I remember reading, you can't even have both Switches playing different games from the same account, I think. Like I said, I haven't tried.

I have my daughter's PS4 set as my primary and the last I checked if I don't have an Internet connection when I login on my system it locks me out of my downloaded games.

Thats not true, its only the same game, which is somewhat different from ps4, for some a deal breaker for others its not as important.

Good read, thanks! I didn't fully grasp how difficult it was to achieve visibility on the eShop. I don't blame devs for having to rely on this, though the concern that it will flood the eShop with cheap garbage is worrying.

In any case, I'll be less likely to impulse buy these games knowing that this is a growing trend rather than a one-off oddity.

Anything else I should be looking at? I don't know if we will ever get the standard model Switch FYI.

Also, what is the best carry case for these and car charger/accessories etc?
Check your local Target's Switch aisle if looking for cases/accessories. Bunch of stuff on clearance right now, got a nice Zelda case for $12.

I also picked this up on a whim since store pick-up is now a thing. Ditto the $9 Deadpool monopoly game that was on sale yesterday. Physical Switch games that are $10 or under are already pretty rare, even rarer when it is one I'd like to play so I figured why not. The whole arcade stand thing is just a neat bonus.

Another game for pennies on the dollar. Is this some kind of trend?

Also open to opinions on whether this one is any good or not.
I have it from when it was like $0.49 but haven't played it yet. Indie Gamer Chick was playing it on Twitter the other night and I believe her short take was, "Kinda crappy but doubt anyone is going to feel like they didn't get $0.09 worth out of it."

The race to the bottom happening with eShop pricing is (mostly) great for consumers initially - as some pretty solid indie titles are going up for dirt cheap to get noticed - but I have to imagine at some point Nintendo is going to step in from a quality control perspective. Been wondering lately if they might even go so far as to limit discounts in some form (i.e. limiting how often a publisher can put their game for 90%+ off or limiting lowest price to $0.99, etc.).

Coffee Crises (Qubic Games) hit a new lowest price ever today at $0.99.  That's been on my list for a while (love me some 90's brawler action).

Thanks for the game impression, I'll probably pass on this one.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye on sales in case anything good gets dirt cheap (cmon, Marble It Up), but now I know that I don't need to be buying anything and everything that goes below a dollar.

It's been happening for about a year or so now. Usually at least a few dozen games at $0.99 or less. When I get a few minutes here in the near future, I'm planning on starting a new Youtube series to do quick reviews on games at a dollar or less.

So the first paragraph of this review is making me think I should get Ring Fit Adventure. If this game can actually get me to work out my core, it's probably worth the money.

EDIT: I just ordered it after reading some other reviews.

Anyone tried those Calculation Castle games? Son is 7 and having a little trouble with math. Willing to try something like this if it seems decent.

Gamexplain on youtube had a a really good and meaty preview video a few weeks ago (about half an hour long) and they were pretty impressed with the game as people who actually go to the gym and work out daily. Honestly I was sold on the game the moment the trailer with the creepy smiling people came out but seeing the good buzz it's getting has made me feel even better about buying it.

My apologies, as this is a repost of sorts.  I asked this question the last time (I think it was) Batman: The Telltale series was on sale, but I didn't get a reply.  I figure it got lost in the deluge when some other topic sort of took over...maybe the Argentina thing, I don't know.  Anywho...

...question for all:  to your knowledge, has this game's freezing issues ever been resolved?

We had the the ps3 Telltale Batman, and I liked what I saw of it, but now I'm a little skittish to try it again because it froze something fierce in part 5 -- it was a consistent, catastrophic failure.

I had the disc version, with part 1 on-disc, and downloaded the rest of the chapters.  I allowed the game to update, as per Telltale's instructions, since they said something definitive like "this is a known issue, and this patch will fix it! (insert thumbs up here)"  Well...it didn't.  Not for me.  In my travels, some said they had no issues, some had freezing/glitching in other areas, some had what I had, and other said that that's how Telltale games are.

Anywho, any info/experiences here would be helpful.  Thanks, folks, for all you do to your bodies.

Quick QUESTION

Should I buy over watch now and get 3 months of online added or should I wait for an upcoming Black Friday sale ??? Or it’s too soon for a sale on over watch?
