I'd imagine the Onn version is made by some decent company. Just like most generic foods are manufactured by the same people that make the name brand ones. What I'd be interested in knowing is what is the write speed. That can cause issues if it's too low even if the read is plenty high enough.

The main issue you might have with it is how many writes it'll allow as to how long it'll work, so as long as you don't expect it to be a long term solution and make preparations for that, it'll be fine.

Doesn't the Switch default to internal memory for save games? That would make the bulk of write operations, unless the user is in the habit of frequently deleting and downloading again, which seems to contradict the usefulness of a high capacity card.

 
I was checking to see if I already had 'A hole New World' on another platform, as it seems very familiar. When I checked PSN, it was free on both PS4 and Vita. I don;t know if this is recent or not but if you have either of those machines you might as well add it to your library.

What I read online is that if there is an SD card present, it is used as the default storage device. On my Switch Lite that seems to be the case as my internal storage has the same amount free as when I bought it and the used space is on my microSD. I did nothing to configure it that way other than insert the card and format it.

I don't know what to tell you. Do you have a PS Plus subscription active? That is the only variable that seems likely to have an effect. If I already owned the game the box would read 'Download to your PS4'. It isn't in the 'Free To Play' category, which would be very strange when it isn't like that on any other platform. For example, looking at XBL showed it at $9.99.

Doesn't the Switch default to internal memory for save games? That would make the bulk of write operations, unless the user is in the habit of frequently deleting and downloading again, which seems to contradict the usefulness of a high capacity card.

You two are both right. Game Data, if there is an SD card, will default to that as its primary storage. Save data however, is always saved in the internal memory.

 
I'm gong to hold out for 75% off toki tori 2, then I'll bite, not play it, then get pissed when it drops to 80% off a few months later

  • Agent A: A puzzle in disguise - If you like puzzle/detective/graphic adventure games, this is for you!
  • Celeste - No need to explain this jewel.
  • MagiCat - If you like the Celeste type of game (hard platforming) this is a no brainer. Cute and fun as well.
  • Super One More Jump - Easy going, one button platforming. Just jump away in this easy pick-up game for spare times.
  • Ultra Space Battle Brawl - Pong/Arkanoid meets Street Fighter. I loved it. And with friends; better yet.

Check them out, as I believe some of theme even have Demos available, so you can play and see if they are of your liking before buying, but for their current discount price, I would not even think about it.

Reminds me more of the Toy Soldiers series. If you have an X1 or PS you should check it out if this was up your alley. Looks like you can buy the disc version for X1 for under $7 from walmart right now.

I'd 2nd Super One More Jump. Best budget game I've bought on the Switch so far and sunk a lot of time into it.

 
Finished Gato Roboto tonight. It’s a very well done Metroid style game. It’s short, it took about 4hrs to beat, and I wasn’t in a rush to beat it. But if you love Metroid I highly recommended it. Just wait for a sale since it’s a short game.
 
Enjoying Evoland so far. The "evolution of gaming" part of the homage got soft-sold a little. They highlight the monochromatic start in the blurb, and that lasts...30 seconds? Still, it's been a pretty cool send-up. The introduction of loading times after 3D environments got introduced made me giggle.
 
Finally ended up buying Celeste. Just couldn't resist at that price, considering all the great things people say about it.

Played ~30 mins last night and yeah - it's pretty fun, lol.

I preordered at GS just to have one locked in, but it apparently doesn’t come with the game which sucks. From what I remember, the Diablo 3 and Let’s Go editions came with the respective games...

Those retailed for more than $299 though so you can essentially still get the same deal by buying the game separately
