I got a Switch about 6 months ago. My first new system in over 10 years (the Wii was my last one). Besides the big triple A games, what drew me in to the Switch was all the indie and retro titles on the eShop. I've literally purchased dozens of amazing games because of Frisky and his posts.

Depends totally on your specific needs. In my house the switch is the primary because it allows my family members play my purchases and I'm the only one who uses the Lite and I only use it at home where I have internet. My switch lite is the "book" I keep by my bed side.

Provided you use that primary account on the non primary console. Another user on the non-primary console cannot use any of the games or DLC.

Yes, but have to be online, and unlike Xbox or PS4, you can't play the same game on different accounts at the same time. When I launch something on my girlfriend's Switch, it pauses to check in online that my other system isn't logged in. Not a big deal but there's no game sharing when it comes to multiplayer.

The bigger annoyance is save game transfers. They work fine when supported but they aren't automatic, so if you switch between systems frequently you'll just want to be careful. My Lite is my primary system but we put it on her docked system for Smash when some friends were over, and I almost continued on an old save a week later.

This is on a game by game basis. I gameshare Pokemon Shield and Animal Crossing with my brother with no problem. We can play simultaneously and in Animal Crossing we can even visit each other's islands. Pokemon is more restrictive, we can't dynamax battle together.

Yea, I've mentioned Animal Crossing working 2-3 times at least in this thread. Torchlight also works, for what it's worth.

As someone who only was really into Civ Revolution on the 360/PS3 (pretty much a very streamlined strategy) it took me a bit to get the various systems of CIV 6. Once you start nuances of the game though it becomes very fun and addicting. I would say it’s a bit of a learning curve, but not too steep.

I bought so many Data East games that I think I took the company out of bankruptcy. I think Hamster handles these old games better, but you know, for two dollars I can accept the flaws. (Well, not the crash that happened after the first stage in Heavy Barrel. I hadn't even built the super gun yet!)

Please tell me that Animal Crossing New Horizons gets better? I honestly hate it so far, and I am a huge Animal Crossing fan. I really don't like the mandatory crafting system, and the easily breakable tools. Also, my starting villagers are garbage. And, the fact that I'm locked out of online play with friends until I can convince K.K. Slider to come to my island, and he only shows up on Saturdays. This really is bad. I do enjoy the miles system, as it gives me something to work for, and the 24 hour nature of the store is good for people like me that like to play games late at night, and I know that I am 52 days behind everybody else that got it on release day. So, I am hoping that somebody can reassure me that it gets more fun eventually. Because, I honestly feel like I wasted $60.
 
At this point, Animal Crossing plays pretty much the same for me as ever, it just had a slow start. Granted, I never felt like the 3DS version was an MMO experience. But the crafting gets less grindy as you unlock stronger tools and put a couple crafting stations around the island. Plus now you can create matching furniture sets rather than just hope the store randomly has them. So I like it better overall but I might play it differently.

Not sure I understand this part. In what way are you locked out of online play?

Also I may be remembering incorrectly, but I thought KK was always a once a week thing.

So far I love this AC. New Leaf was my previous favorite. I never played much of Wild World or City Life.

Got some time into Piczle Cross Adventure and it's been pretty good so far. You walk around environments looking for missing items that require solving a puzzle to bring them back. You get XP for each puzzle solved and can level up, which is mostly for the items that require high levels as gatekeeping for getting to new areas or there are tools you need to find to get around other obstacles. They do a good job with the options to let you turn off help that makes it easier for those that need it. I'd put the Piczle games in a tier below the Jupiter Picross games, but above the other series out there for having good puzzles, good options, and a good amount of content. I'll report back when I get an idea of how long this one is.p
 
Just want to update everyone on streets of rogue. After disabling blood and friendly fire, it's become a really fun game to play with my kid. Yes, it feels insane to tell him to drink his whisky to recover some health, but sometimes out of context quotes are almost downright parental, "don't use that syringe, we don't know what's in it!"

It's also doing what rogue's do best: teaching the player to be a little more cautious because getting killed stinks.

That said, I've yet to feel attached to any of my characters in any of our runs yet. Compared to shattered pixel dungeon on Android (possibly my favorite rogue-lite) where I really feel invested in my character, in Streets of Rogue I mostly feel invested in not losing my inventory. Maybe that will change over time, too.

Anyway it's totally worth the $10.

-You can play online before KK Slider part of the story
-KK Slider was always just Saturday nights in the Gamecube version
-You will get better tool recipes that last longer
-the store will not always be 24 hours so enjoy that while it lasts

Overall I think it's the best animal crossing. Things will really start to open up later and you'll have more control over who lives on your island. Definitely drip feeds you slowly in the first week or two though.

Just for a little extra clarity on KK--the first time he comes does not have to be a Saturday. I don't want to spoil what requirement to get him is (it's not a difficult task), but after his first visit, it's only Saturdays.

It's also doing what rogue's do best: teaching the player to be a little more cautious because getting killed stinks.

That said, I've yet to feel attached to any of my characters in any of our runs yet. Compared to shattered pixel dungeon on Android (possibly my favorite rogue-lite) where I really feel invested in my character, in Streets of Rogue I mostly feel invested in not losing my inventory. Maybe that will change over time, too.

Anyway it's totally worth the $10.

Glad you are enjoying it. I've bought it on PC, Switch, and Xbox One. Considering a purchase on PS4 as well. And the PC version has a new DLC that unlocks four new character classes that I hope will come to consoles one day. Fingers crossed.

I'd buy the new Animal Crossing game if it was more like Streets of Rogue. But it's not. So I won't.

Anyone have any must have recommendations for the Johnny Turbo Data East games on sale? I already got Night Slashers and am probably going to get Bad Dudes and maybe Wizard Fire. Any others to pick up for $1.99?

 
Speaking of ACNH QoL improvements:
-More control over the villagers. They no longer leave randomly over time; you have to approve their leaving. Mystery islands, campground, and amiibo give you a better chance at getting villagers you want. You can reset their clothes or talking habits whenever you want.
-More control over the island/city. Move buildings after they've been built, place furniture outside, and literally change the whole landscape once you've unlocked terrain editor.
-Customization. Building on the custom pattern maker, the customization option at the workbench is a much welcome addition to make furniture fit your style better.

I've put in at least 150 hours by now.

lol, that would be an interesting mashup. I'll probably pick up Streets of Rogue before the sale ends (which is soon, May 11).

Nice find crackadon! From those games I only know Tardy, so I might get Dead Dungeon just to get Tardy at a good price. I will check the other games and see trailers/gameplay/reviews, maybe there are some hidden gems in there.

 
Is the Nintendo web shop screwed for anyone else? I don't see a way to sign in right now...and it is slow and feels broken. I better not touch it haha.

Grabbed Dark Burial, and if you want a Trials-like for cheap, Gravity Rider Zero is a buck and change new if you have another Qubic game. Otherwise, it's a bit under $5 new.

Sly Spy is a solid pickup if you ever wanted a 2D sidescrolling Bond game only without the Bond license.

Starting to like Animal Crossing a little more, but the constant grind for miles so I can go to a new island for things like weeds is wearing me down.

I just reviewed eight of these games on my blog. Definitely get Nitro Ball! It's Smash TV meets pinball! Heavy Barrel is a military combat game, similar to Ikari Warriors but with better weapons. Sly Spy is hilarious in its shameless theft of elements from the James Bond movies. Night Slashers you already have. The others I could take or leave.
