Alright Pikmin! Well at least they bothered to add some new things:

For me personally, Pikmin 2 is the best. I know a lot of people didn't like the cave/dungeon aspect. But I loved that you could take your time and methodically clear each section. It was charming how you would find and pick up household objects like ChapStick, soda caps, batteries, and even a Ragu Pasta Sauce lid (yes, there were real world product tie-ins). You could spend a good chunk of time just reading all of Olimar's funny descriptions of what he thought the items were.

Pikmin 3 just has you collecting... fruit. It still has the Pikmin formula though and it's a very nice looking game. All 3 of them are worth a play thru.

I posted this in the Japanese thread by mistake, so here is the proper placement:

Well, round two of JC repair/replacement is coming to a close, so back to report on the turnaround for this order, as the first one took 18 days from start to finish. Well, this time, 16 days seems to be the turnaround, as I contacted "N" on the morning of the 21st(July), and the set is due to arrive back tomorrow. 

So after the the first contact, they responded in about 24 hours with the shipping label and return instructions, which was 1-2 days faster than the first time around. Now this time, once it arrived to the repair location, it took them over 9 days to actually "take it in" to their system, which was much faster the last time. But then the actual repair or replacement time was shorter, as within a day or so, they were on the way back.

Same as before I lost 1 day in shipping it back, as they sent the label early one morning, and I didn't ship it back until the next day, so it may have made 15 days if I had. Haven't receive these back yet, so can't report on quality, but the first time they were packaged well and both seemed to be "new" and not refurbished or fixed condition. Overall, no real issues, outside of the fact this needed to be done at all, so thumbs up on customer service, and HUGE thumbs down for "N" not addressing the core issues of this problem years after the fact!

Yeah I would love an n64 mini. But I really want a GameCube mini since they have awesome titles on there I never got. Skies of Arcadia, baten kaitos, etcetera.

64 I would enjoy for the party games. Mario party, Pokemon stadiums, puzzle league, Tetris world's.

Damn shame Nintendo dropped most of those. I would love to play titles like those with online.

I like the Pikmin series, but haven't gotten around to playing 3 yet. It's not that I'm not interested in it. I also still own my WiiU and have a spare because it's a system with a great library of games. The fact Nintendo keeps re-releasing them on switch seems to support my argument.

The graphical upgrades to the switch versions aren't really mind blowing, and tapping the WiiU catalog repeatedly to port to switch is good because it introduces those that were on the WiiU-hate bandwagon to it's great games, but it's annoying to me as I own so many of these games already. I know it's far less work to port/remaster these games so I know that it's not like a new game would be, so I wouldn't dare make that "just make new games!" argument. That's silly.

When it comes to these remasters, I think I'd much rather see graphical updates and re-releases of some original Wii games (which I also still have an play semi regularly). Those do look kind of bad at this point and are old enough that it would be new to a larger audience.

Mario Galaxy, a mix of whatever Wii Sports+Resort games that would work with the joycons, Metroid... There are great titles in that catalog.

And for goodness sake, if you're re-releasing/remaking WiiU games just release SMB 3D World already!

I think it runs great. I had it on ps4 first, then pc (With a ton of mods), then switch. My switch version has a lot more hours on it then the others. Runs great and portability is key.

He's based on a real guy, Jonathan Brandstetter. Presumably, this explains his less than supermanly physique.

(He's also in Crystal Crisis as a bonus character, sort of the game's answer to Dan Hibiki from Super Puzzle Fighter.)

I can vouch for this one! It's everything I hoped Crimson Shroud for the 3DS would be, with a competent combat system, slick graphics, and an engaging, constantly evolving story. Imagine a really good game of Dungeons and Dragons without all that pesky number crunching, and that's Hand of Fate 2. If you play with a Switch Lite, connect it to a headset or a good pair of speakers... you're going to want to hear everything.

I still have an old EGM magazine with one of the Johnny Turbo Comics in them. It's only a few pages and is blatant marketing against the Sega CD. I have no idea why the company that bought up all the Data East arcade games decided to use Johnny Turbo as their mascot. He never seemed that big of a character other than a few ads for TG16.

I'm pretty sure that Jonathan Brandstetter, the real life Johnny Turbo, works for the Data East rights holder or the company porting these games.

Something weird is going on with those games... I was trying to contact the publisher to ask (fruitlessly) if there might ever be an update allowing us to disable the awful filter...

As best as I can tell, the original company was disbanded and a UK based corporation now owns the rights. This also makes it rather unlikely we'll see any updates or new releases.

man most compilations haven't been that cheap for a while, SNK was $40, Sega Genesis, which has like a million releases and resold 1000 times since PS2 still retails for $30.

While I agree that most of the Data East games aren't worth that much, I guess the nice thing is that A; at $2 each you can just buy the 3-5 good games you want, and B; you aren't saddled with a bunch of shitty games to get the 3-4 good games at that $20 to $40 price.

I miss the days of good Namco Museums and retro/arcade collections, companies have just started charging a lot more for these nostalgia/catalog compilations, and people seem to be fine with it.

Interesting. Still not a memorable or interesting mascot in my opinion. They should have just stuck with the "Flying Tiger" which is definitely much better. I also dislike the intro audio they have saying "Johnny Turbo presents...." for each of the games. It seems so low budget and out of place.

 
I never thought I'd say this, but, Nintendo NEEDS some kind of quality control. Some of the "indie" games they have out on their system are worse then some of the things I used to see on Xbox Live Indie/Community games on 360... back when that was a thing.

It still is a thing on Xbox One, and they are way more expensive. The shop has them under a tab called "Creator's Collection".
 
I think it’s just that the eShop differentiates the least between these very low-tier indies and the rest of the store. Unless you are a Chosen One that gets to be in the Featured or Coming Soon tabs, you get the same placement as everything else.

I can tell you that Playstation also obfuscates the hell out of itself so you usually don’t find that stuff.

Bought it on 8/5 and I just finished it today. Very fun and game is like metroidvania so you have to constantly re-trace your steps as you explore areas and locate shortcuts. Also the maps are auto-generated and very well done. You might get a lost for a bit but the maps are not that large with many exits. Enemies and bosses are not to difficult and definitely worth a play through. Buy it when it's on sale again.

On the Chasm note, definitely agree its become a much better game, initial release was not as well made. I am slow rolling it but enjoying it, I think you can end up spending a lot of time if you search for everything.

So on an eshop note, I saw that Nintendo added the ability to add stuff to you wishlist on the web store, but did you know you can see your wishlist now in the browser?
