Does anyone know if the download cards sold at stores net you gold coins on My Nintendo? Now that there are some free games up, I could actually use them, but I also have a gift card to Best Buy I could use for the Zelda expansion pass.
I don't believe redeeming eShop cash codes gets you My Nintendo points. You have to buy actual games to get the points.

If it's a code for an actual game it should, whenever I've redeemed a game code since the change over I've gotten the appropriate amount of coins same as buying it digital.

I do hope it's an actual Mega Man X collection, but they almost went out of their way to avoid using the word "collection". They just said "All the Mega Man X games will be available."

Didn't a few of you say that on your birthday, mynintendo gives you a 10% off coupon? I got 300 platinum points :bomb:
I got a "30% off these selected titles" last month. Of course it was all garbage in my opinion, except for Bravely Default. I already own it physical so I didnt bother using my birthday discount.

This same thing happened to me. What a gyp!

My guess is that either they didn't want to offer this discount alongside holiday deals, or they've now stopped offering birthday discounts. :(

It's an extension of being born near Xmas and having your presents split between the two holidays instead of a proper amount of gifts for each.

Actually I just got a email about 30% off games as well. I can't see what the list of games are (site blocked at work) but it sounds like a bad selection. Oh well

I just got the birthday email today (mine’s the 14th). 30% off select Wii U or 3ds titles. Thought about Planet Robobot, but $28 is still too high for a Kirby game. Especially on an older system.

Seems like Nintendo is either just promoting their games that are up for awards or they might have an announcement to make suring the show:

Got mine as well. I wish Paper Mario: Color Splash was a bit cheaper, but I'm considering it anyway.

I got the 2nd MK8 DLC, I got the 1st one for free earlier this year. The family loves this game! Now if they'd only offer some SSB DLC for free...

Yeah, mine did end up happening at the end of the day, so I spoke too soon! Hooray! Unfortunately, I own 11 of the 13, and the last two are 3DS games that will probably be a part of Best Buy's sale next week.

I'm thinking they are going to split it into 2 collections, like regular Mega Man. I'm mostly okay with this, since I'd really want 1-4 anyway. Maybe I'd want 5, but not past that.

I read that they bought out a bunch of tickets to give to fans as well. Definitely something going on.

I realize this might be a "controversial" opinion to some - but now that more people want to bring their games to Nintendo consoles, maybe Nintendo should be more discretionary on who gets in. Just looking at tomorrow's releases alone, it's a hot mess of really bad looking games with no discerning spotlight featuring notable titles, or any sort of sorting between them whatsoever to distinguish them from one another.

One of these 20 indie games could be a great game, but I'll probably never know. It's cool that developers get to put their game on the platform, but it's just gonna turn into Steam-lite soon if Nintendo doesn't pump the breaks a bit or figure out a way to give games a spotlight beyond the "Games on Sale" section.

I have Zelda botw for both wii u and switch.  If I buy the 20 dollar zelda expansion pass card in a store and redeem it on the eshop, is that functionally the same as just buying it directly from the eshop?  Will I have access to the content on both versions, or only one?

I have Zelda botw for both wii u and switch. If I buy the 20 dollar zelda expansion pass card in a store and redeem it on the eshop, is that functionally the same as just buying it directly from the eshop? Will I have access to the content on both versions, or only one?
It's the same as buying it in the eshop, but only works on one version. You'd have to buy it individually for both games, as it just works as DLC.

I don't believe there's Cross Buy support for the game or the expansion pass, so you'd have to either buy it for both versions or pick where you want the extra content.

Or maybe Nintendo should overhaul the eShop so that it's more than a barebones marketplace with no user reviews, ways to feature noteworthy games, or to sort games by various methods. You could also google search the games on the list to find out more since there's no reason to blind buy anything.

I'm thinking they are going to split it into 2 collections, like regular Mega Man. I'm mostly okay with this, since I'd really want 1-4 anyway. Maybe I'd want 5, but not past that.
Doubt that, but it would be cool. Mainly because everyone would buy 1-4 in a collection and skip volume 2. The series is definitely front loaded. They have to find some way to get people to buy a collection with 7, maybe odd games then even? 1 & 3 in the same package would make 7 ... tolerable.

I read that they bought out a bunch of tickets to give to fans as well. Definitely something going on.
BotW second DLC available now? That would be amazing. They have been playing coy with the release date, but Reggie insisted 2017 still.

Yeah, I'm all for lack of clutter, but I was even surprised how bare bones the NS shop is. That for sure needs some improvements ASAP!

I dunno, lots of people wanted to bring games to the DS/3DS and they didn't seem to be discretionary at all. They still have a Nintendo Seal, not a seal of quality, so I assume there's still some hoops to jump through to make sure their games are functional on the system, though that doesn't really explain how WWE 2K18 was released...

Yeah, I don't think overall game quality is a big concern for anyone either. At the end of the day, those crap games get discounted pretty quickly and make for cheap smaller kid entertainment.

In this day and age, if you can't look a game up in 2 seconds to see if it's worth your time, then a person deserves to get crap. The NS shelf space is also pretty bare at retail, and while having it filled in with junk isn't ideal, it's probably better than not having much overall.

Lost Sphear has a demo on the Switch that is out now. The easiest way to get it might be to go to the Coming Soon section in the eShop and the game is the very last item.

Are you new to Nintendo? Never expect anything that would make sense to be on sale to actually go on sale, you'll be disappointed.

Man, Floor Kids looks great. I just don't know if it'll be one of those games I need touch again after a great first impression (see: Sound Shapes, Guacamelee!, etc.).

Spoiler: They're not. ;)

Maybe there will be a TGA sale on the eShop tomorrow, but there are no guarantees on the eShop.

How did Bayonetta 2 do on the WiiU?  I was a little surprised Nintendo went for it again.  I mean, I'm happy, but surprised.

So tempted by Disgaea but the fact that BB had it on sale for physical for sooo much cheaper bums me out, even if it was all but impossible to actually obtain.

It did poorly, but the same could be said for most non "N" games on the Wii U, as well as any M rated title on any of their systems ever. From day one, I saw paying for Bayonetta as a bad idea, as it wasn't going to bring any great numbers to the U, and it didn't. It made the small user base happy, but that was about it. Hell, the original sold poorly on the major consoles of the time, and that's why part 2 was left for dead.

The NS is definitely looked at as less of a toy or kids system as past consoles have, as a lot of games are selling better on the NS than on other consoles currently. So going for it again with B3 is a much more solid bet this go around. And offering the first two games before hand is a great way to introduce others who may have missed out in to the awesomeness that is Bayonetta.
