By the way, can anybody here comment on any differences between playing Smash Wii U off a disc versus digital (probably off an external drive in my case since the internal memory on mine is pretty full already)? Like, any quality differences or anything? I'm waffling a bit on whether I really want to bite on that sale price just to convert or not.

Should be the same, just without the disc required to play it.

Sucks that the new Rhythm Heaven is not getting a physical release.  Would have totally picked it up if it was.  I guess, like the new Fatal Frame, it will have to go without purchase for now.

EU is getting it physically, but as per the norm, NoA sucks ass!

Why would NoA make a physical version? Both Rhythm Heaven for the DS and Fever for the Wii sold terribly. Fever apparently sold only 13,000 units. Best Buy, Amazon, TRU, and Walmart were practically giving them away and nobody kept taking. There is no way in hell Rhythm Heaven Megamix would sell enough to justify a physical copy.

So why is EU getting it? How much did it sale there?

Yes, yes, it is, but keep in mind, this game isn't NEARLY as easy as your average Kirby game, especially if you want to get all the collectibles, it's actually difficult if you include getting all the collectibles.

Thinking about getting smash WiiU, I'm curious about something.

Is the 10% extra already on the price, or does that reflect afterwards???

Kinda confused with the extra percentage.

Really? That's a shame. I loved the DS version. Was having such a good time playing the Rhythm Heaven demo last night.

What's the verdict on both Streets Of Rage? I played the heck out of 2 back in the day but never got the chance to play 1

Are they well handled ports?

It is fun but VERY straightforward. All three characters are basically clones of each other, their attacks may look different, but function exactly the same. But again, it is fun. The music is fantastic, too.

It was big back in the day because it could have a ton of enemies on screen, and two player with no slowdown. Final Fight was direct competition at the time and was only one player on the SNES (although it was a better game otherwise).

2 is fantastic. There's no reason to play 1 unless you're a huge fan. 2 is better in every way.

Every Sega 3D game is a well handled port. Literally every single one.

Agree, SEGA went above and beyond for every one of these games. The only short coming being Altered Beast, as it is the Genesis game, instead of the coin-op version.

You want Fairune.

I can't see anyone disliking it.
I played the demo last night to the end in one go and immediately went to the store and bought it, downloaded it, and ported my save over. That was pretty excellent stuff and unlike a lot of games these days, it had me (in a good way) scratching my head several times and what to do to make progress. I really like the way this company handles demos. It's not a waste of time at all to enjoy the demo and it's not some gimped side thing or so little content that you can't get a feel for if you'll like the full game or not.

I've got a few more demos to try out. Also for anyone going for the gold coins for Super Mario Land 2, that offer expires at the end of the month.

No one bought either versions when they were released her physically. Yeah, NoA, you suck for not wanting to lose money on overstocked games.

We should be lucky they even bothered putting it up digitally. Gees.

You do know games sitting on store shelf's is money in "N" pockets right? If it's at retail, it has already been bought by the retail store, so the worst case is the game not getting ordered to begin with, but that isn't really what you describe. Overstock at retail means sales prices for consumers, and more games sold overall.

At the end of the day, yes, it's great to get a game digitally than not at all, but when you release a physical game in a region that normally sales less games on the whole than NA, it really doesn't look that great to the US market.

The same argument could be made for the base model N3DS, the US bought more of the small OG 3DS than the other regions, but yet everyplace else got it, except for the location that would have probably sold the most based on past sales. They wouldn't have released it here at all if not for the public outcry.

I'm sorry I don't see the "logic" in what they appear to be up to, as you seem to be an expert on their business model. If I have any further issues or problems, I'll be sure to run them past you first, and make sure I have a valid complaint before I post here in a public forum.

Regardless, NoA was most likely universally told by retailers that they would not order it or not in the quantities they wanted to justify a physical release.

Yeah, overstocked games are great for CAGs, but are probably not great for future retailer orders. This seems to elude most people.

Given the number of retail copies of the Rhythm Heaven games that sit on store shelves even still today (talking even the 7 year old DS game)... I can't imagine any retailer would want another one.  I'm glad for the fans that at least digital is an option.  To me this is where digital shines best... to get a game out there that just may not sell enough at retail to justify the production expense but in digital form wouldn't be that costly.  It takes nearly all the gamble out of publishing and it often leads to some pretty interesting games that wouldn't exist otherwise.  Kind of reminds me too of Steel Diver.  I still see copies of that new and ready to be bought and it's not because they restocked.

Question on that...if I bought it on my wii and pay the upgrading charge on Wii U...can I still keep the Wii version on my Wii? (kinda like cross buy) *hope that makes sense.
I may not be remembering correctly, as it's been a while since I did this, but I'm pretty sure that when you transfer data from a Wii to a Wii U, it wipes the data on the Wii.

I noticed that Wii games like Super Paper Mario are "Gamepad compatible." How is this possible when there's a Wiimote required to play? Is there a sensor bar of sorts on the gamepad itself, and if so, how the hell is that at all practical?

Main reason I'm asking is because I'm hoping for the tiny chance that they changed the controls to not need a Wiimote.

You need to system transfer the Wii copy from the Wii to the Wii U in order for the upgrade charge to show up. So, no.

On the other hand, that Wii copy stays exactly the same on the Wii U even after you get the Wii U upgrade, so it's kind of like having two copies at once. Which is especially useful for games with limited save files.

If the game could be played with a sideways remote or classic controller, you can play it with the game pad controls. If it requires motion sensing or pointer controls, you'll need a Wiimote and yes the camera serves as the sensor bar.

You do realize you are talking about a videogame right? Stop using something so miniscule to make yourself seem tougher than you really are.

WTF are you talking about? I posted an example that was opposite of the one given, how is that being tough? You can neither follow his logic, mine, or ignore both. I would say your trying to be tough by calling out my post, was that your intent?

You do know this is a video game forum right, what should be discussed here instead?

We could talk about the current deals?

...

Anyway finally tried out Adventure Bar Story... it seemed good so I bought that, then contemplated another purchase for far too long... ended up getting 3D Gunstar Heroes.  I loved the GBA game and the GBA Astro Boy (very similar... same devs)... so it got my purchase.  It ended up pushing me over what I needed in gold coins to get Super Mario Land 2... so I redeemed the coins and downloaded that as well.  Overall, I'm set for the month for my 3DS.  It's good to get back to playing games again.   Right now my goals are to finish BoxBoy! and Fairune.

The longer a game sits on store shelves the less likely the company is to order more stock.......

Which means less sales overall for NoA

Thanks. I still don't see how Wiimote+ gamepad (presumably on the couch, away from the stand) is the least bit feasible.

Waggly games aren't great for that but as mentioned games that use the classic controller are a good fit for that if you want to watch TV or something at the same time. I also have a plastic shell on mine that has a kickstand on it.

Well, I would guess no retailer should buy anymore Amiibo's then, especially considering how much space those things take over a game, and the fact that most retailers have current inventory priced at $5-10 on a regular basis.

Yes, they sold very well for a time, but considering how limited qty's where for a very long time, and all the extra hassle retailers had to endure for what probably amounted to very little profits, and now considering how many clutter the shelves at every location, I would say having a few copies of Rhythm Heaven sitting on store shelves would be far from the end of the world.

Same here. End up bought Paper Mario N64. Screw Nintendo 10% off wasted my 30 minutes
I just set up a "My Nintendo" account this morning, and BoxBoy shows as discounted for me, but nothing else. I already own that title as well, so I don't know if that has an effect or not. There's only one game I'm interested in that has the extra discount, so I'll wait a few days and see what happens.
