Well wish me luck friends, I'm going to attempt to get a splatoon 2 switch bundle Thursday at midnight. Hoping Walmart doesn't let me down. But I'm not holding my breath.

I redeemed the Picross Round 2 and Pocket Card Jockey rewards before they expired. Thanks to the PCGameSupply offers, I got enough balance to use the discounts this week. I tried the demo for Round 2 last month, and it was a good puzzle game to play while waiting to unlock more areas in Pokemon Picross. I did not expect to enjoy Pocket Card Jockey so much though. I bet it's because I didn't realize that I'm a sucker for Solitaire and this game really scratches that itch. So happy I picked this up!

when is  NBA 2k  18 coming for switch

nintendo webpage says 9 15    everyone else shows   10 17

The only thing that I have seen so far is that there is a button on the touch screen with the Miiverse symbol. I have yet to use it, but the manual indicates that pressing it launches the Miiverse page for the game, so no big loss if that is the extent of the Miiverse features for the series. None of the BOXBOY! games are detailed under the major game-play feature question either.

...
Thanks for that. Didn't think there was much to it but I do have the BOXBOY! games (well the first 2) and they seemed to be odd games to have Miiverse support when not that many 3DS games do. But this did remind me that I have them. Looking forward to play as my next puzzle type game on the 3DS (after finishing off Picross e).

It's a really good game. Maybe the title makes it sound too much like a kid's game.
I was going to buy it at launch, until I saw the price, and I decided to wait for a discount. While the game seemed to be one of the better e-shop titles, it also looks like a lot of other games already there, that are priced in the $5 and below category.

Jools seems to have this same problem more often than not, but yet each game continues to be priced the same. If there is an issue each time with low sales, that should tell any sane person, something needs to change. Maybe the design, price, intended audience, etc.

I wish him well, as I really do like most of his titles, but he needs to start looking at what he's doing in a new light, and make some changes if he want's to see some different results.

I feel spoiled from the capcom sale last week..  maybe pick up severed and/or mercenaries saga 2 this week on 3DS?

He probably should have also released a limited physical copy of the game to recoup a bunch of the costs. People eat that shit up nowadays.

Just picked up a Switch, how often the digital games on it go on sale? I just see a single "sale" right now and want to know if that's normal.

Sure, but what if I want Snipperclips, Sonic, and Shovel Knight? Is it full price or nothing?

Because those are on my list.

I offset the cost by selecting no rush shipping on Amazon orders when I can get digital credits. I then buy eshop cards with that digital credit.

The last month had I am Setsuna, TumbleSeed, and GEM on sale the last month or so. I am Setsuna will probably be $24 Black Friday.

Sega does very occasional eshop sales, but don't expect deep discounts like you see on other digital platforms.
I can't speak to all their titles, but their 3D Classic games have been 50% several times in the past, which was a pretty sweet deal for already well priced games.

The Classic Sonic titles on the Game Gear have also gone on sale a few times over the years.

Also, Shovel Knight (not a Sega title but in reference to the original sales post) has been on sale a few times on the 3DS but I'm sure it will be a little while before the Switch version goes on sale. It'll happen eventually though.

We've maybe had four or five games on sale in the last few months. They're not at that point where it's a weekly thing like on Wii U, 3DS, PS4, etc.

Jools posted his big review of Chicken Waggle's sales and such post launch. It'll go on sale for two weeks at $9.99 for 3DS on 9/14. An interesting bit from the post:

Sadly, I believe the Nintendo 3DS eShop is dead for “Nindies”. The audience that buys indie titles on Nintendo platforms has moved on to the Switch. I expected the Switch would impact the success of Chicken Wiggle on 3DS, but not to the extent that it has. I would be amiss if I did not mention the fact that Chicken Wiggle was nowhere to be seen on the main 3DS eShop shelf in North America for the first two weeks. It could be found inside the New Releases folder, and the Newest Videos folder. That was all. Whereas in Europe, Chicken Wiggle scored the premium landing slot. It literally couldn’t have been positioned better in Europe. I am extremely thankful of NOE for supporting my game this way. The crazy thing is that the breakdown of day one sales is 75% in North America, and 25% in Europe. Go figure!

Anyone elses Delivery Day Monster Hunter Stories delayed by Amazon?

Just curious.  Thought I had something to play during the hurricane.  Apparently not.  Stupid USPS.  Hurricane ain't even here yet.

The last Hurricane (Harvey) threw off a lot of shipping. I ended up with a 1 to 2 day delivery delay notice on an item I ordered yesterday and even though it shipped out on time the same day, it left Fort Worth... which explains why they couldn't guarantee two days. What does your tracking say?

Wednesday. Thing is.. I can literally drive less than an hour and hit the Amazon warehouse it shipped from. I got the whole story. Basically Amazon delivered it to USPS. USPS never bothered to unpack their deliveries. It's sitting in back of the facility wrapped in ceran wrap. Wife stopped at Gamestop and got me a copy to get me through.

So does Atlus not do major sales anymore? I made the mistake of purchasing a bunch of eshop points early this year thinking I'd get some cheap Atlus games. Now I regret not having bought the physicals instead when they were $23.99.

They do, but not as often as they used to do them. People around here got mad that they were on sale more often than most other publishers' games.

I will always buy the 3DS version of a "Nindie" over any other version as long as it is reasonably priced and uses 3D. To me 3D is a huge selling point I will support the uniqueness of those titles that use it on the 3DS. I have seen a lot of 2D-only games being sold on the 3DS and to me this is a huge wasted opportunity. In cases where a 2D title is sold on multiple systems I will likely not buy it on 3DS and go for the Switch or PS4 version instead.

Chicken Wiggle may or may not be in 3D - I don't know since at it's price I had no interest in it - but my statement was in general to Jools' post about the 3DS eshop being dead to "Nindies." I also think if he eventually sells a $20 to $25 physical version of the game he will get a lot more sales. I know I would be in for a physical copy at that price.

I'd never heard of the guy or the game before now (although I like Mutant Mudds), but I looked at the Nintendolife review of the game and it seems very good. I might just get it.

I was going to get it at launch until I saw the price, then I opted to wait. The game looks really good, so that was never an issue, but some of these indie digital only titles are way overpriced. I haven't played this one, so I can't say that's the case here, but when you see a game like this graphically, it fits in with a ton of cheap mobile games on the e-shop. Once that is the perception of the buying public, it's all but over.

I guess NoA really didn't do much to help support it either, where it looks like NoE did. For some one who has been working pretty long term on a "N" device, that seems rather poor treatment, so I would also suggest in the future, he looks at other platforms, as I agree his game more often seem a good fit for "N" platforms, but when they can't even get their own **** right 95% of the time, I would take my creations elsewhere, where it can be supported and appreciated.

Jools knows how to make a decent game but they come off as generic. Chicken Wiggle sounds like a shovelware title. No amount of promotion on the NOA eshop will fix that issue. Now I haven't followed video game development nearly as much as I have in the past so not hearing anything about this title doesn't bold well for whatever marketing plan you had to reach the masses. I wonder just how dead the eshop has been for the rest of studios new releases.

Well, considering there are what? Like 60+ million 3DS's out in the wild VS. maybe 5 million NS, I would say if things are no longer selling for the 3DS, something is way wrong someplace, as that's makes no logical sense.

I do agree it gives off the shovelware vibe, and that is where the price was an issue, as there are so many games that look generic like CW, but are only a few dollars, and probably make really good money for someone.

My son comes to me each week looking for something to spend his $5 dollar allowance on, and almost each week he gets some crap title, because there cheap, and quality isn't a big concern for an 11 year old. A $15 title, or even $10 for that matter, are often passed by for cheaper titles.

So yeah, if he wants to sell better than a poorly made mobile title, he needs to make sure people know that's not what it is, and when the e-shop where it is being offered is over flowing with titles like that, I'm really not surprised it sold poorly. As it was guilty by association, so I would suggest selling it someplace where it can shine, and not be drowned in a sea of mediocrity.

I'm guilty of that too. I was trying to think of how many $15+ eshop games I have and I'll need to check, but I believe I only have two, which are 1st party Nintendo games. Maybe if the game had a demo but that's a pretty steep price $15 blind buy. Maybe even at $10.

$5 allowance? What is this 1990?

That's what i got at that age in the early 00's. But i was the kid who would save up for months/years to buy a big Lego set or robot
I got less at that age - maybe $2 to $3 per week, but that was during the 1980's. I also had siblings that got allowances too and my family didn't have the most free money to go around.

Honestly, thinking back, the last times I remember actually getting an allowance, it was probably $10 a week(back in the mid 80's I guess), but I did tons of chores in the process(daily). My son doesn't do jack **** 95% of the time, so $5 is his starting point.

When he does more, he'll earn more. At this point, $5 is his minimum wage, and honestly he really only gets that because he's a good student, and when he doesn't get in trouble at school, he earns the $5. If and when he does some work around the house to my satisfaction of doing it, I'm happy to up the rate. But for now he doesn't want to do much, so he doesn't earn much.

I'm not rewarding laziness, and if others want to pay $20 a more a week, for getting talk back and paying for cell phones, or whatever else, that's great. I was raised to understand you get what you work for in life, and I'm not paying a "breathing tax" to anyone. Even now, my son want's an NS before Christmas, and he's not willing to work harder to get it through earning it, so he's opted to have me sell his Wii U games, and his NES Classic, which is awesome, as at least he's learning about "sacrifice" to get what he want's, so "working" won't be to far behind.
