Might pick up Harvest Moon A Tale of Two Towns and A New Beginning. Not sure if any of the GBC ones are also worth getting. I think I'll avoid the newer Harvest Moons that aren't by the original devs.

So is everyone here boycotting NBA 2k18? I noticed none of the normal Youtube channels had a review and didn't know if the microtransaction debacle had killed the hype for another next gen game getting what looked like a fully featured and comparable port.

Is SWD2 coming out for the 3DS? I'm not seeing it on my store it if already is.

Also thoughts on the river City games? Been eyeballing them for a while now. I still can't tell if the medieval one plays like a brawler or ATB based RPG ...

Anyone else remap the controls for Steamworld? There's something slightly "off" about the default controls to me that I can't quite figure out. Maybe it's because I've been playing so much Metroid.

I did not boycott, I was really hoping for a physical copy but canceled my pre-order and went digital after the delay. It runs really really well even in portable mode. I am the type of person to just ignore microtransaction options so idgaf about the fact that I only have like 5 haircut options available in mycareer mode.

I was interested in both River City games, but my research turned up that there is no multiplayer in the main games so that just killed my interest in either. Not sure if that matters to you.

The 3DS themes they'e giving away with Pokemon Silver/Gold are pretty nice, even if the process for redeeming them is needlessly complicated (the Nintendo way!)

I got bored of Steamworld Dig very quickly. The core game loop of digging just to upgrade your digging gear to dig more felt grindy to me. Is there a chance 2 is enough of a change to catch my interest?

Does anyone know if Snipperclips Plus digital version is also going to be $29.99? Just wondering so I can know whether I should preorder a physical copy.

It's no longer procedurally generated - the world is pretty carefully created and is quite a bit more Metroidvania-like with more story/exploration. But I loved the first one so I can't really say one way or the other whether this is different in the grind-y regard.

You do start above ground and dig down and upgrade your gear. But there's a ton of different gear to upgrade now, and none are really mandatory. It's more upgrading to suit your play style.

Ah, I will probably pick it up then. If there's some sense of progression and not just digging a little deeper every run then I would probably enjoy it.

I stopped playing the original pretty early on as well, for the reasons you mentioned. I still plan to go back to it at some point, but it didn't grab and pull me in like I thought it would.

I don't know that SWD2 is that much different than the first. You're still digging down towards whatever the quest is at that moment (room with an unlock or depth goal) and when you're full with ores, you go back up to sell them and buy upgrades to let you get further down. If you didn't enjoy that core loop from the first game, I'm not sure this one will change that much for you.

Yeah, I don't plan to buy part 2 until if and when I finish the first, and end up liking it more than I did.

I tried the original Rayman Origins demo on the Vita when it was first offered, and didn't care for it either. After seeing tons of positive comments over time, I had a chance to buy it cheap, and I opted to give it another go. It ended up being my first Platinum Trophy, not because I was seeking it out, but just because I wanted to get 100% in the game, and the trophy came along for the ride. LOL

I ended up loving it, so just because a game doesn't grab on my first go round, I'm more than open to trying a game again, as maybe I wasn't in the right state of mind at the time, or just wanted to play other games more.

Just my two cents after beating SteamWorld Dig 2 yesterday. I liked the first game but didn't love it as it was repetitive and running out of room and having to climb back to town was a bit tiresome.

SWD2 took that basic loop and made it into a full game. The upgrades happen a lot faster and there are a lot to choose from. There are also a generous amount of travel points so it's really easy to go back to town, sell your stuff and get back to where you left off without wasting time. And it honestly was a lot of fun exploring the world and finding all the secrets. The digging is there but I never got tired of it. One of my favorite indie games this year.

Spelunker for Switch is being localized for NA/EU! What a day to be alive!

REALLY enjoying the Japanese demo since it first released and have been considering for months importing a cart, but now that an english version is coming, I'll wait for that!

for $30 digital AND online multiplayer, day one purchase! October 19th, btw.

On 2k18, I haven't run into the bug yet and have really enjoyed my experience. It's not as graphically polished as the xbox and ps4 versions but runs smoothly and loads alot faster.

On death squared, I highly recommend getting it while it's on sale. This game has a strong portal 2 co-op mode vibe but you can control the bots by yourself or in co-op. A lot of challenge but a very satisfying game to beat. Good humor throughout too.

So far, Picross S is pretty good, though it definitely suffers for the Switch not being a stylus-based device. I'll probably only play on TV, but it's a shame that the Switch is not a great device for Picross. As for the puzzles, they've been good so far and I like that something they're playing with early on is making the subject of the puzzle not what you're marking on the grid, which is a nice use of the negative space for the puzzle itself.

It probably should have leaderboards to see how your completion times compare to friends, but that's not a big deal. I wish they had mirrored the options from Picross e7 so you could turn off all hint features for an added challenge. The thing that is forced here is the numbers on the axis change to a light gray color when you're technically marked one of them, which was able to be turned off in e7. That was a part of the difficulty options, as you'd get a medal on that puzzle's icon in the menus to denote that you beat it with no hints. Again, it's not a big deal, but this should've been a continuation of the great stuff they added over the course of the Picross e games. No Micross is a big deal, however.

I don't play Picross games with the stylus (except for Picross 3D, of course), so for me it's been pretty much the same as the 3DS for portable play.

Do you guys have any thoughts on the river city games that are on sale? How often do they ever go on sale/is it possible for them to go cheaper in the future?

One of the games only came out a few months ago, so this would be its first sale and the other was a 2016 game with one other sale previously. Natsume has sales a few times a year, but as far as I can see, 50% is the max discount they've had on any of their games so far. There's always a chance of them breaking that barrier, but this seems like the most likely lowest price they'll offer for the foreseeable future.

I love using a stylus for picross because i can fill squares in faster.
Also i picked up a picross/nonogram book and using a pencil reinforces my use of a stylus

Do you guys prefer playing GBA and DS Virtual Games on Wii U or the original consoles? I'm trying to decide if I should get Zelda Phantom Hourglass (which I used to own), the Golden Sun games which I've never fully played through and maybe the Fire Emblem GBA titles. I looked on ebay for the actual carts, and it seems like the originals may be hard to obtain with all the reproduction carts out there (I'm surprised they're even allowed on ebay, because aren't they piracy?)

I was also recently wanting to play Star Fox 64 again, but I don't really want to pay more than $20 for the 3DS version, so I think I'll wait until it's inevitably included as part of a Nintendo 64 Classic. I also wonder if they'll ever start doing classic portable game systems even though there are already a ton of Game Boy games on 3DS Virtual Console. Was thinking about picking up Mole Mania now since that probably would never be included.

I picked up mystic knights. Having a blast with it so far. I had to remap the buttons because the default settings were causing me to throw my weapons on accident... Whenever you finish a battle you get no time to pick anything up. So you're boned if you dont have it in your hand or inventory.

Right now I'd give it a 7.5. It's def a Kunio-Kun game. Love the humor and old school style brawling.

I played Picross for the first time on any platform yesterday by buying the Switch version. I played the first “sheet” of puzzles, and the last puzzle required using no assists.

After I solved, there was a “No Assists” badge on that puzzle completion record. So I think there is a complete, no assist reward.

With the last game (Picross e7), "no assist" included turning off the faded numbers, so Picross S doesn't allow it to be as assist-free as before.

Wow amazon sent my culdcept revolt collectors edition in a bubble mailer and it wasn’t crushed or dented!!
Someone just mentioned recently how solid the game packaging was, and how if it was shipped in a bubble mailer, it might not get damaged. I guess they where right. Now if only everyone could make a bullet proof CE/SE that could survive these ass clowns and their less than ZERO level of proper packaging, we could all rest easy. LOL
