I think it's funny that on the Nintendo Switch news section they have a Mario Golf picture for the Sports Games, yet they don't even have Mario Golf available. Disappointing. They need Mario Gold on Switch. :(

Punch Out would be nice as well.

Now to play the waiting game again for information on the gold coins rewards and reviews on rbi 18. I really hope that it has improved. A decent baseball game on the switch would be great.

FYI: Less than two months before the Wii Shop Channel stops letting you add money to your account to buy stuff. Full shutdown is Jan 2019.

If you can, get a Japanese Wii to pick up some games that never got released outside Japan.

I'm planning on getting:

Legend of Valkyrie (Arcade)

Metal Max Returns (Super Famicom)

Devil World (Famicom)

Zoids: Mokushiroku (Famicom)

Custom Robo V2 (N64)

Front Mission Series: Gun Hazard (Super Famicom)

Metal Gear (MSX Computer)
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (MSX Computer)

Star fox zero is $5 new converted to used at Gamestop. And you can get 4 for $10. Reposting this from the Gamestop thread since I don't usually read it as it can get too long with all the trade discussion. Next time other Nintendo games are on sale at Gamestop please post it here as well.

Frisky, I'm confused by a few things in the 2nd post on the 1st page.

1tp4rst.gif
 Super Mario 64 - 90 Gold Points - Ends 8/1

3ds120.gif
 WarioWare: Touched! - 1000 Platinum Points - Ends 7/1

I don't remember seeing these last year (unless I REALLY wasn't paying attention).

However, the reason I ask is, if they're available through July/August why aren't they available anymore?  (or was that 2017?)

Edit: ****, I just saw the 2016 expiration dates looking at that page.... :???:  Might be worthwhile add they're long dead to that post to save fools like me asking about something long and dead for years now. lol

I appreciate them mixing things up and putting more things to get sooner, but I seem to be missing plenty of things while bleeding gold/platinum points like mad because I don't check the mynintendo page once a week.

Any clarification would be appreciated and maybe an update on that post if it's not too much trouble.  Thanks.

Online only, so there's shipping to consider

Most stores have multiple copies. I was able to pick some up locally and they were still sealed with Star Gix Guard and the outer box included.

Tempted to double-dip on Rocket League, but only if I can play 2-player split screen in tabletop mode, with one Joy-Con for each player (wanna be able to play w/my daughter on the go!). Seeing a lot of conflicting info as to whether or not this is currently possible, can anyone confirm?

I can confirm that used copies of Star Fox Zero are $5 in store at Gamestop, as I picked one up on Wednesday.

It might be that the 4 for $10 is only valid online - I didn't see any signage in store other than for PS3 gamaes.

Yeah, you're probably right. All I'm hoping for still is the Snipperclips DLC. I'll use every last gold coin to my name.

In a separate but related question, what's the stupidest thing you all have gotten from My Nintendo since your rewards were just expiring anyway? I spent 30 on the full e-guide to Animal Crossing: New Leaf, a game I do not have and likely never will. But ya know... maybe I'll need it

Also purchased the discount for a game I forgot I already owned for both systems. So that's a thing you can do
I honestly don't think I have ever used My Nintendo Rewards. I have a ton of coins though, I've just been accumulating them since Club Nintendo ended. There has not been a single thing that I've wanted from My Nintendo Rewards so far.

I'm expecting LRG is going to release Golf Story since they hinted at it a while back... that's why I'm holding off on it as well. I'd rather have physical games because I know at some point (likely after Pokemon releases) my kids will start wanting their own switch systems.
I am hoping/expecting LRG to announce Golf Story within the next couple of months.

You can't.

How long does your raids in other games take? Cant be that shorter than a qiest in MH.
My raids last 0 hours as I don't play MMOs. Too many great games to play and too little time in life to be grinding/raiding.

I was reading a couple of articles on Forbes and it reaffirmed my disinterest in the series.

This is why I can't believe critics or even peer pressure popular opinion sometimes (GOTY or not). We all have our individual gaming preferences. I like a straightforward gaming experience, complete with an ending and credits to make me feel like I can move on to the next game. This is why I avoid RPGs (40+ hours) for the most part, there isn't enough time to put in all the effort required, and my backlog (and lifespan) isn't getting any shorter.

Right now I'm playing Don't Starve, and I hate it. It's way too grindy and permadeath is a bitch. After putting in so much effort and losing all my progress, why do I even bother trying. I play games for fun, not work.
After reading those articles and checking out some gameplay footage, yeah it looks like a pass for me as well. I'm totally with you regarding structured experiences that have a defined beginning and end. It's why MMOs, MOBAs and online multiplayer games are my least favorite genres.. they never really end. Well, maybe once you've sunk 1,000+ hours and are bored to death of them. Wish I had that kind of free time, must be nice.

And can I just say fuck games with permadeath? Only Lucifer himself could have come up with a gameplay mechanic that diabolical.

I don't understand the dislike for MH.  For me, it's the perfect game.  I sit down, play a quest or two (20-40 minutes), save game, move on to other things.  The crafting of the items is what gets you going.  I knew I needed to hunt another Rathian for a drop to make my weapon a bit better, so I went out my way to do that.  Thereby making me stronger against the next "main" quest.  And you've got tons of options.

Coming from the 3DS/Vita versions, the freedom this game gives you is great.  I wish it were on the switch for portability.  I'll likely double dip when it comes out on Steam.

I keep seeing SNES classics refurbish on the front page of CAG.

If you live in Michigan the John R Best Buy has 11 brand new SNES Classic in stock as of 2/8/2018 yesterday just sitting within the back.
Toys R Us on John R has two in stock currently, maybe this will help someone still looking for one.

Found my answer: you can, in fact, play local split screen multiplayer undocked. News stories went back and forth on this point after the Switch port was unveiled last July, but I was finally able to find an old dev tweet that confirmed a maximum of 2-player split screen undocked, 4-player split screen docked. Bought the game, and I can confirm that this is indeed the case, after enjoying a few rounds with my 6-yr-old :)

If anyone else is also on the fence about the Switch port's multiplayer options, I hope this helps clear it up.

Welp, I just found a support page for My Nintendo, and it spells out the points to money ratio for North America My Nintendo. 1 Gold point equal $0.01. http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16541/p/855
So with that being the case, it seems it's a better value to redeem your Gold points for game discounts instead. I just redeemed 50 Gold points for 40% off Zelda Skyward Sword for Wii U VC, which saved about $8.00. Otherwise those 50 points would be just equal to $0.50 off a Switch game purchase. When the March change does happen, you'll be getting more gold points than before for buying digital and registering physical games (5% and 1%), but they might be better spent on other things in My Nintendo. :/

My raids last 0 hours as I don't play MMOs. Too many great games to play and too little time in life to be grinding/raiding.

You might want to respond to posts from the PSN thread in the PSN thread.

Nice find nabor! After reading though all of the FAQ, it does seem like it will be a straight 5% cash back to be used on anything:

Beginning in early March 2018, whenever you purchase eligible digital Nintendo Switch content (on Nintendo eShop or www.nintendo.com), you will have the option to use your My Nintendo Gold Points towards the cost of the purchase. You can choose how many Gold Points you want to use, and pay for the remaining balance with Nintendo eShop funds or any other payment method available in Nintendo eShop.
What's not awesome is the terrible conversion rate to the new system. All of the gold points earned up to now are pretty much worth squat:

The number of Gold Points in your balance will remain the same, and the value of the points will be $0.01 USD per Gold Point if redeemed for eligible Nintendo Switch purchases made through Nintendo eShop and www.nintendo.com.
So I basically only have $5+ sitting in my account, but would have probably $30 or so under the new system. Bought $70 worth of stuff in the past 2 weeks, too. Lame. Guess I just won't be buying anything else until this new system rolls out.

Yeah I wish I hadn't registered my early Switch carts already at the original lower rate, but at least I've got a few more left to register under the higher-value program next month. I had held off registering to wait until getting closer to each game's post-release 1-year anniversary to register them, so I could stretch out the time the gold coins will expire after another year. But like I said above, it seems the Gold points will have more worth being used for game discounts on My Nintendo compared to being traded in as monetary values for Switch eShop purchases. Watch it end up being only Wii U and 3DS games get My Nintendo discounts still, no Switch games :p

I disagree. True, you lose either a lot or everything when you die, but most games that feature permadeath are designed put more emphasis on player skill than items/equipment. In roguelikes, with every run you get smarter, you learn how to handle each enemy, and you learn how to minimize the chances of running into a bad situation (since it's usually impossible to completely avoid).

And you'll still die, a lot. But it feels more rewarding the further you get, and winning all the more so. Just reaching the end of the game is one thing. But surviving until the end is another.

Oooph yeah I have 1052 Gold Points and was assuming they would become a pretty penny.... $10 is not a great reflection on the fact that I have purchased over 40 freaking Switch games in the past 4 months. Pretty upset.

Would definitely recommend the $60 Pro Controller on Newegg (free shipping and Newegg doesn't charge you sales tax make it an excellent deal, not a lot of good deals on it yet). I hope they eventually come out with a revision that restores Nintendo's patented ball-fulcrum d-pad though ...

They may charge tax, as that is normally done based on your location. If you live in a state where they operate, you may get charged tax.

I've actually read around the web on a few occasions, that the newer Pro Controllers(Xenoblade version) have much better d-pads. I don't know how true that is, or if it applies to the Splatoon one or not, but something to look in to for those having issues with their d-pads.

The new black ones are the same, so it's just all newer controllers.

Yeah I was going to respond with 8bitdo's similar contraption, which is $5 cheaper and decidedly less ugly. I've always been extremely happy with my 8bitdo products, for what it's worth.

Although I do have the 8bitdo adapter to use my DS4s on my Switch, I personally still picked up a pro controller since I just wanted the official thing, with no dongles, and HD rumble and everything. Obviously whether that's worth the extra $50 is up to individual determination. For me it's definitely been worth it.

In addition, I love my 8bitdo SF30 Pro, and my GameCube controller adapter. I pretty much have more ways to connect controllers to my Switch than I know what to do with.

+1 on Golf Story.
Also, I have some parts on order that I'm going to use to mod my Switch Pro Controller with Microsoft's Elite controller sticks and D-pad. You can Google it for images, but I will upload my own images once I do it. Parts should be here tomorrow, so I'll probably do it tomorrow night.

Is the Bayonetta preorder deal available if you preorder on the console itself? I looked last night but didn't see any info when I went to the purchase screen. I know someone said you had to purchase one first but just wanted to make sure it's valid on the console shop.

I didn't want to chance it, because I haven't linked my switch to my online eshop login.

It's definitely mentioned on the eShop pages for each game:
